A list of puns related to "Stephen J. Dubner"
The back index is my fav part. It gives a list of names that shows the average years in school the parents completed.
For example... If a child is named βDestinyβ her parents may only have completed 10 years of schooling. But a child by the name of βZevβ the average years of schooling for the parents would be 14 years schooling. ***this example is just from my memory (I donβt have the book in front of me).
So if you've never read freakonomics, you definitely should. I listen to their podcasts too and I thought they should definitely cover dogecoin and cryptocurrencies. I googled to see if they had done anything which led me to this blogpost which basically asks if there is really a good interest in it. So I sent them this:
>"Hi there, > >I enjoy your show a lot and recently read your blog regarding bitcoin and your hesitancy to do a podcast on it, >which is perfectly reasonable. However, things have changed. > >Recently, the currency dogecoin, based on a 2013 internet meme has exploded in value. The community is >largely responsible by using such a popular internet sensation to advertise their digital currency and by doing >things such as donating money to the Jamaican Bobsleigh team. > >So the interesting questions I think are these: > >How does cryptocurrency challenge our views on ACTUAL currency? After all, our money is just a paper note >since we abandoned the gold standard. And what about gold? Is it simply the act of agreeing that something >has value, that makes it valuable? > >How does occupying processing time and power on our computer (what cryptocurrencies call mining) differ from >mining for gold? Is there a difference? Isn't the gold that we dig out and stick in bank vaults just as useless as >the processing power lost on computers around the world digging for digital coins?
>I hope you guys read this, dogecoin has been doing some weird and wonderful things lately, it seems hard to >believe you couldn't make a great show out of it!"
My father was talking about this book out of the blue one day, just casually mentioned that he wanted to read it. I was hoping one of you kind folks had one left over from a class that you took and didnt need it anymore or just had one that you read for fun and didnt want anymore! Thanks!!
When did you decide to write a general interest economics book?
Why do you think it's relevant/useful to find trends in seemingly unrelated sets of data?
Did any publishers turn down Freakonomics?
How can economists like you (perhaps unconventional?) make everyday life better for average citizens?
How has your success with the book changed your life?
NSQ has been my current obsession this past year. I love how itβs essentially about anything under the sun but can also get pretty philosophical and academic. The hosts have so much chemistry and I really appreciate how they come from different professional backgrounds. I learn a lot about the human psyche and it isnβt overwhelming at all because theyβre so natural at keeping their conversations light and easy. Looking for similar podcasts!

Hi there Reddit -- my hour is up and I've had a good time. Thanks for having me and for all the great Qs. Cheers, SJD
I write books (mostly "Freakonomics" related) and make podcasts ("Freakonomics Radio," and, soon, a new one with the N.Y. Times called "Tell Me Something I Don't Know." It's a game show where we get the audience to -- well, tell us stuff we don't know.

At the top of the pod, Adam tells Bryan and Gina about the rules for Hair and Makeup when you do TV appearances. They go on to discuss Adamβs thoughts on sunblock and showering, and then Adam takes a call from someone whoβs worked on the Murder Reduction Strategy for New Orleans. Later, Gina reads news stories about Trump tweeting that wearing masks is patriotic, Kanye West turning on his family during his latest βbi-polar episodeβ, and Coronavirus drones being used to sanitize large areas quickly. Later they discuss how the NFL is getting back to action, restaurants refusing to serve people who do wear masks, and another viral vid of someone going crazy over mask regulations. Before the break, Gina reports on Trader Joes renaming some of their products after cries of racism.
Adam is joined by both Stephen Dubner and Angela Duckworth at the start of Part 2 of todayβs podcast. He asks them about their new podcast, βNo Stupid Questionsβ, and they go on to chat about the importance of grit, and how to develop it. Later they discuss the differences between self-esteem, humility, and self-efficacy. Other topics of conversation include Adamβs experience growing up, and having a mental checklist of goals to accomplish in the future. As the interview wraps up, Adam asks Stephen and Angela to talk more about self-awareness and success. Stick around for todayβs Good Sports, with Adam and Dave Dameshek.
**My short bio: I'm mostly a writer, of the non-fiction sort. Best known for the "Freakonomics" books, including "Think Like a Freak" (published today!), all co-authored with my friend Steve Levitt. I also host Freakonomics Radio. (Note to self: need to diversify!) I tend to write about things that interest me rather than things that a lot of people necessarily care about; occasionally, those two intersect. In the new book we share everything we've learned about solving problems, coming up with ideas, and staying one step ahead of the pitchfork mobs. As for the horse/duck dilemma: this video (http://kottke.org/14/05/all-for-one-and-one-for-all) has persuaded me to try the ducks.

Update: I am leaving now since the 4:00 patient has surely arrived. Thanks a million for having me. Can't wait 'til Reddit breaks my website again!
My short bio: I'm mostly a writer, of the non-fiction sort. Best known for the "Freakonomics" books, all co-authored with my friend Steve Levitt. I also host Freakonomics Radio β and, as of this week, a new podcast, Question of the Day, with my friend James Altucher. I tend to write about things that interest me rather than things that a lot of people necessarily care about; occasionally, those two intersect. Since the new podcast is about asking and answering questions, I figured another AMA was in order. So, reddit, ask me anything!
