I love Star Wars but I honestly wish that the Sequel Trilogy never happened. I’m happy with the anthology films such as Rogue One, however the sequel trilogies do nothing except retcon and ruin George Lucas’ brilliant story told in the first six films.

Since there is a lot of uncertainty with a lot of upcoming Star Wars projects and a massive drought in much needed sequel trilogy content, what would be the best way to convince Lucasfilm to actually push out those projects and actually expand upon the ST characters/stories?

I'm not denying that there is still a lot we've got to look forward to with Season 3 of The Mandalorian, the Kenobi show, and other upcoming projects. And there's still lots to love from last year, like The Bad Batch, Visions, and The Book of Boba Fett. But there's still much we have yet to learn or hear about regarding some of the projects that have yet to officially debut or have an official trailer released. Some projects, like the Rogue Squadron show, have been "delayed indefinitely." And to top it all off, there has been little expansion or mention of the sequel trilogy in the past two years. The only real things we seem to have gotten are LEGO specials, but no actual animated or live-action series to truly expand upon the worlds and characters that were introduced or brought to life in the films. It feels like sequel fans are being left to sit in the dust with how there is almost no content to cater to them or expand upon the stories for Finn, Rey, Poe, and the rest of the Resistance crew.

Thus, I had been wondering if there was some way to somehow convince the current team at Lucasfilm to actually get some of these projects going or have some more information put out so we can get some actual news to look forward to. This had originally been possible with a hashtag to bring forth Season 7 of The Clone Wars, so maybe we could use something like this to galvanize positive support for other Star Wars projects. Especially for the sequel trilogy, if we could somehow convince enough general Star Wars fans or sequel fans to show support, we could show Lucasfilm that there is enough demand out there for them to push out sequel trilogy content that we are desparately lacking. My only concern is that such action might not be done in good faith, and that there might be more rage or anger behind the collective push for more content. I would like to let the creative team for Star Wars know that a lot of fans are clamoring for more transparency or news on upcoming content and for more expansion on the sequels, but I'd want it to be from a place of positivity and forward-thinking.

Ben Solo's name. (Star Wars sequel trilogy; spoilers)

This is not a theory as much as it is a realisation of something.

Ben Solo quite literally means lonely son.

I'm a writer and was talking with a friend this week, and explaining the name Benoni to them, how it means "son of my sorrow/pain" (directly contrasting with the character's father's name, Benjamin, which means son of the right hand, indicating value). The prefix "Ben" in Hebrew names means "Son" (edit: It is also a name alone, just BenΒ (Χ‘ΧŸβ€Ž))

And then I remembered Ben Solo.

Solo has an obvious meaning, it is synonymous with alone, lonely even.

Ben Solo. Lonely son.

It is quite the insight into his story when you consider his past and his end. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but it is a name that makes a lot of sense.

(P.s.: I would like to politely ask people to refrain from commenting on how they hated the new trilogy and anything like that. This is just something I wanted to share with people. I know a lot of people didn't like it but this is not the point right now. Thank you.)

The Last Jedi was the best of the Star Wars sequel trilogy.

Don’t get me wrong, Last Jedi wasn’t good. But it was trying to be ambitious unlike Force Awakens which I really appreciated. It also tried to move away from the idea that the Star Wars franchise always has to revolve around the Skywalker family. I really appreciated this too. The Star Wars universe is massive. Why exactly does it have to revolve around the Skywalkers? The skywalker saga really didn’t have to continue after episode 6. The new movies didn’t have to be about them. That’s what Rian Johnson was trying to do which I welcomed. This obviously conflicted with Jj’s vision where he said Star Wars is about β€œfamily” obviously meaning the Skywalkers.

The cinematography was also the best the series offered. Acting was good. So yeah, overall it was trying to be creative and ambitious. It just wasn’t executed well. Also, it obviously has some dumb scenes though

Some of the stuff they make, like one-off movies, or TV shows are pretty good, but the "sequel" trilogy was such an abomination. They had a golden opportunity to make three amazing films, and instead we just got a bunch of trash. They said they wanted to make something for the fans.... So us fans don't want the big three all together in these movies? and don't want weird things invented about the force that have no basis in fact in Star Wars lore? or to completely change the character of Luke Skywalker? Or have dumb poorly rehashed plot-lines? And Mark Hamill was right. He had to pretend he was playing a different person, because it wasn't Luke.

Some observations of Star Wars sequel trilogy and new canon in general

Star Wars rebels had a lot of potential. It would have been better to keep it until Luke joined the party: At the beginning I didn't like the idea of Star Wars Rebels but I rescue some stuff like Kanan's point of view of order 66 and how the people was pissed off about the taxes that used to be charged by the Empire. When they mentioned that they were little rebel cells across the Galaxy it was good because it was escalating that little conflict into something massive. The size of the conflict of the Civil War has never been exposed in movies. Not like prequels did with their movies or Clone Wars so Rebels reaching those scales would have been interesting to see. Also it would have been interesting to see the PT planets under Empire rule. A good example would be Emperial Coruscant. Sadly it didn't reach to the point. Lets see if Disney revives that show as they did with The Clone Wars.

Kylo had potential. He could have been portrayed as a Darth Vader fanboy because he actually had a twisted vision of balance. Technically Anakin brought balance by equalizing the numbers of Siths and Jedis. This not only could have given a reason to Luke to surrender(to keep the balance brought by his father) but also a better motivation to Kylo(letΒ΄s say that his conclusion was to wipe out the Jedi order in order to keep a equal number of light and dark side users in the force) itself that turn the prequel trilogy more important to what was after the original trilogy.

Disney could have used Finn, Phasma and Hux to portray the other side of the empire: The First Order kidnapping kids was lame. It would have been better to give a credible motivation to those characters to restablish the Empire. Like the idea that many planets fell under local warlords and space pirates.

Using Darth Plagueis as the final boss. Sure that Disney retconned Anakin's origin or Anakin has never been created by Darth Plagueis. But Anakin as a failed experiment of Plagueis and Plagueis set as the fuel that started the drama of the Skywalker family make him the best final boss to finish a trilogy that was sold the end of the Skywalker saga. This could also explain how he managed to be hidden all these years. Being hidding from Darth Sidious. Now that he was dead he can operate in the shadows.

You may ask? Which is the relation between this thread and 1999-2012 era? Well. In my perspective the Lucasfilm era of 2012-2017 really wanted to wipe out a lot of stuff related to the 1999-2012 era. Maybe b

I just don't get it. Dislike what ever movie you want. I don't care. But it's weird that the fans turned against the sequels so then all of the sudden the prequels are suddenly underrated classics.

And episode 2 is one of the worst acted movies I've seen in my life. I'm sorry Hayden got the hate he did. He didn't deserve the harassment and trauma he got. Obviously. But that doesn't mean his acting wasn't absolute shit in that movie. Sorry

A brief idea about what the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy could have been - The Cold War and the Death Stars

What is interesting about the background of the Sequels is that for some reason the Republic never directly engaged in the battle against the First Order, rather they did it through the proxy war by supporting the Resistance--a paramilitary group formed by Leia Organa. However, it doesn't make much sense that the Republic wouldn't use its regular military.

The real-life Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union, which Lucasfilm has borrowed for their lore, was due to the nuclear weapons stopping them from escalating into open war. Nuclear wars kill leaders and VIPs. Every country is willy-nilly until its leaders are at risk of dying first. Everyone, including the leaders, has an incentive for de-escalation when the literal Earth is on the stakes. It is clearly the EU writers' attempt to band-aid the geopolitical status in The Force Awakens, which was more concerned with soft-rebooting A New Hope regardless of whether it makes for a natural continuation from the Original trilogy.

However, the "Cold War" concept still fascinates me. I believe this is the aspect the Sequels could have focused more on instead of another riff on the open war between another Rebellion and another Empire. I wonder if there is a good stand-in for the real-life nukes in the Star Wars universe...

Oh, yeah, it has one. It's a Death Star.

In The Force Awakens, the First Order develops the Starkiller Base that is basically another Death Star and uses it to conquer the galaxy again. Okay, it's A New Hope again. However, what if... the New Republic has one, too? Not just one, but dozens of Death Stars readying to travel to the First Order systems and fire their superlaser discs at their planets? Then we get a different story.

After the end of the Galactic Civil War, the First Order retreats into the Unknown Regions with all their techs, while some scientists and technicians defect or get captured by the New Republic (like Operation Paperclip). It is just logical. Such a powerful weapon like Death Star cannot go away. Both regimes persist and continue the research on the planet destruction tech, which results in an arms race followed by the cold war between the New Republic and the First Order. They engage in the fights through proxy wars around the Rim regions rather than another galactic-wide warfare.

That is until the First Order develops a miniature Death Star technology that can be carried on the Star Destroyers (as shown in The Rise of Skywalker), meaning the weapons o

The Sequel Trilogy Is My Favorite Star Wars Trilogy

Alright, I've gotta get this off my chest.

It’s been a long time coming, and I already know that some people are just going to read the title of this post and freak out, but here goes nothing: Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Star Wars.

And I’m one of the rare few people out there that actually loves every single installment in the series (including Rogue One and Solo).

I don’t really see the point in people arguing so much over movies, so although there’s Star Wars movies that I like more than others, I don’t see a point in trying to tell someone that the Star Wars movies I like the most are β€œbetter” than the ones they like. That’s just pretty immature and kind of counterproductive when talking about anything, really.

Star Wars’ biggest strength as a franchise is also its greatest weakness: it’s a story that spans generations, in universe and in reality.

So it’s kinda inevitable that some 60 year old out there who saw A New Hope on opening day in 1977 is gonna think that their Star Wars is better than some 20 something that grew up with The Prequels. And I feel like in 10 years people are gonna stop complaining about The Sequels and go on complaining about whatever’s new in the franchise.

But at the risk of turning everyone away in this video, this is what I want to talk about: The Sequels are actually my favorite Star Wars trilogy.

I understand how someone could hate these movies, hell, I can understand how anyone could any movie. It’s all subjective. I really love how these films are all about *mostly* the grandchildren of these iconic characters we grew up knowing, learning how to carry on the legacy of what those characters established 30 years ago in-universe. I love the concept of the dyad in the force (Rey and Ben), how larger than life heroes can still make (and learn from) mistakes (Luke), how your family name doesn't necessarily determine who YOU are as a person (Rey), and saving the ones we love, rather than fighting what we hate (Rose). Way more stuff too.

BUT even beyond the plot of the trilogy itself, I also just have a lot of great memories from these movies being released. The Force Awakens came out when I was a senior in high school, and The Rise of Skywalker came out when I was a senior in college. So yeah, although a lot of my childhood was dedicated to The Prequels and The Originals…The Sequels came out at a point in my life when, I was nervous about graduating from high school, and su

Imagine being a Star Wars fan just prior to the Sequel Trilogy

Imagine discovering Star Wars at around the time Disney bought the franchise and being a complete fan of the franchise. You are even excited about Disney buying SW. You think Disney can give so much budget and attention to the movies and they will end up making One of the Best Trilogy of all time.

You waited a long time for the Trilogy and then TFA hits theatres and it’s amazing good. You are overwhelmed that it’s only the first movie of the Trilogy and you know that it will just get better from here on. You only have to wait for 2 more movies.

2 more years passed. TLJ is released. You are so excited to see the movie. You have waited so long to continue that huge cliffhanger from TFA.
After seeing the movie, you are just… disappointed. All that wait, for this? Almost all the hope is lost

Over 1 year has passed. You saw the trailer of TROS. Palpatine is back! You get a new hope. You get excited again for SW in a long, long time. But then, slowly you start to wonder how that would work and soon realise it’s just a cheap move by Disney. You see the movie and you can’t fathom what you have seen.
You ask yourself, How did you get here? All the wait, all the promise, all the excitement, all the hope, is just… gone.

Star Wars: The Sidious Curse Trilogy (Dank Empire)--Being a Major Restructuring of the Sequel Trilogy

To directly cite from my Fanedit.org forum, originating since July:

"Greetings ye--unto any who do read this, I wish to bid thee a good day--or night--as well as express gratitude. ^^;Now, regarding my idea: some months prior, I was just completed my viewings of assorted "TLJ" reviews which fared actually objective. I placed down my cellular-phone to begin my journey-into-slumber, as my mind pondered much upon the insights bestowed by what I had watched thereof--ere a sudden epiphany struck my brain and sparked a great inspiration which consequently rendered myself restless. That epiphany being--"What if we take ["TLJ] and [place it after "TROS"]?"

\"What if we take [\"TLJ] and [place it after \"TROS\"]?\"

More specifically, how would such a project fare if the third-act of "TFA" was bestowed onto "TROS" while the the latter's third-act is omitted completely and dispersed wherever, along with re-contextualizing episode-nine's quest to be a further adventure to locate the First Jedi Temple and Luke Skywalker, while the Battle of Crait becomes the final defeat of the First-Order--no longer another empire, but rather a Talibanic, Cartel-like foreign-power (produced by the remaining Imperial Remnants) that is being closely monitored by the Republic's military division for security, surveillance, and espionage; this being the Resistance. Of course, a vast quantity of additional edit are necessary for such approach to be deemed feasible; I shall ask: what are thy premature opinions of such an idea? ^^;

[...]

Much visual-effects are required; such be the reason that I shall incessantly refer unto this project as a workprint or proof-of-concept, aside from the small sum of effects--and even a stop-motion-- which I actually incorporated from various other fan-produced sources. Lo, I have already completed the initial workprints...
