A list of puns related to "Stan Wawrinka"
Hello everyone!
It's the second week of this series, Replaying the Classics, and I thought I'd start this week off with a BANGER of a match.
This was the match that got me back into tennis after a 10 year hiatus. Stan is literally the reason that I have a single-handed backhand today.
Seriously, if you have not seen this match I recommend throwing it on in the background while you work today because you will be missing out on a performance of epic measures. This was the beginning of the Stan Era. I hope you all enjoy!

It is absolutely criminal in my opinion that they only won 3 Grand Slams each. Two phenomenal players who in another era would have won 10 slams at least. Thoughts?
I suppose it is a testament to the absolute brilliance of Djokovic, Federer and Nadal.
Edit: As u/Arctic_Summer rightly mentions, Murray had an excellent career. Winning a Davis Cup, 2 Olympic golds and 22 slam Semi-Finals. But you can't help feel those numbers could be better. Injury couldn't have come at a worse time for Murray.
Edit 2: Perhaps another era was the wrong phrasing. Without Fedalovic would have been better. Also I understand what you guys are saying about Stan but if he could have sustained his peak, there's no reason he doesnt win more slams
Edit 3: Thanks for the aware stranger. Not sure this post deserves it but thanks anyway!
Hi Everyone!
To kick off this off-season, I've decided to post a link to a "classic" tennis match for us to watch every day. This first one holds a special place in my heart: It's the battle of the one-handers.

If you haven't seen it, you're in for a wild ride!
He is turning 37 next year and I don't see any chances for him to win Wimbledon anymore.
So as you surely know the vast majority of NFTs project are scams with value nowhere but in cupid influencersβs promoting it eyes, but at least Stanβs one (5555 ballmans jpgs) had some utility like participating in a weird tournament with huge cash prizes or having US Open Tickets for the rest of your life.
However, Stan probably saw peopleβs innocence too high as he launched the mint in a Dutch Auction system that eventually fell down to from 3 to 0.3 eth, which still is *6 compared to the average price you see in this kind of project. This resulted in a massive flop with only, as of now, a bit more than 200 balls minted whereas a way too important amount of project sell out in minutes.
What are your thoughts ?
We know Ferrer and Wawrinka are both phenomenal tennis players. When I watch Ferrer vs Wawrinka their matches are mainly just a coin toss. As their head to head is 7-7 which suggests that.
Ferrer won 27 titles compared to Wawrinka's 16 titles but Wawrinka won 3 slams and Ferrer won none. Ferrer played in 1 GS final and Wawrinka 4 GS finals. Both won 1 M1000.
While Wawrinka is better at slams, Ferrer is better outside of the slams. Why can't Ferrer step it up in the slams?
We know Wawrinka lack consistency on tour compared to Ferrer.
But what did Ferrer lack compared to Wawrinka? To win slams.
Remember, this assumes that both players are at 100%.
How does either player get it done, tactically?
Wawrinka has 3 grand slams while facing the big 3. Iβm a massive Murray fan but it has me wondering why stan has 3 majors as well as a Olympic final and yet his name is never mentioned in the βwhat ifβs of potential goats. Especially considering the opponents that he faced.
Brutal match and brutal loss for Stan
Stan Wawrinka won three Grand Slam titles against prime Nadal (AO 2014) and prime Djokovic (2015 RG & 2016 USO). Give Stan The Man some appreciation. With the passage of time, his achievements grow extremely impressive.
Next time you nephews want to discredit his credentials, maybe take a gander at that damning bit of information.
What a tie!
Wow. First title in more than two years. Heβs back!
...including his 2016 USO title run. Are there any similar H2Hs out there involving match point shenanigans?
FEDAL IS HERE!!
Great game by the 2 Swiss players in 3h35m! Federer looked shaky at times but he got there in the end! Credit to Wawrinka though he played very well and was a tough challenge until the end.
I'll preface this saying that I don't expect Stefanos to get past Medvedev however, his run this year has similar parallels to Stan Wawrinka especially if he wins his maiden title like Stan did.
First Round
Wawrinka d Golubev 6-4 4-1(retired). Tsitsipas d Simon 6-1 6-2 6-1
Second Round
Wawrinka d Falla 6-3 7-6 7-6.
Tsitsipas d Kokkinakis 6-7 6-4 6-1 6-7 6-4
Third Round
Wawrinka d Pospisil (walkover). Tsitsipas d Ymer 6-4 6-1 6-1
Fourth Round
Wawrinka d Robredo 6-3 6-3 6-7 6-4. Tsitsipas d Berrettini (walkover)
Quarter Finals
Wawrinka d Djokovic 2-6 6-4 6-2 3-6 9-7. Tsitsipas d Nadal 3-6 2-6 7-6 6-4 7-5
Semi Finals
Wawrinka d Berdych 6-3 6-7 7-6 7-6
Final
Wawrinka d Nadal 6-3 6-2 3-6 6-3
Now we know the rest is yet to be written but on his was to the title Stan had some easy matches and a walkover so was likely able to stay fresh for his long games against Djokovic and Berdych. Stan also had to go through high seeds on this legendary run. How Tsitsipas will fair remains to be seen. But I thought it interesting the parallels that can be seen here. Also if he does somehow win I'll be looked at as a genius. If he loses next round oh well, I hope the bullshit Russian can take the title.
