Why did Afroasiatic language speakers lose with the arrival of Iron Age, their previous Neolithic Age and Bronze Age dominance in SubSaharan East Africa to Nilotic speakers and Bantu speakers?

What kind of morphosyntax do Nilotic languages generally have?

In terms of analytic/synthetic, agglutinative/fusional, how are most Nilotic languages classified? I couldn't find any clear statement in the wikipedia articles of the languages I looked at. Based on the suffixing/prefixing I would say they are not analytic, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to recognize agglutinative vs. fusional

Edit:

actually I had the same problem finding information on Bantu or other west African languages if anybody knows

Looking for recent studies on Cushitic loan-words in East African Bantu and Nilotic languages.

I was reading African Archaeology by D.W. Phillipson, and in a section on early farming he wrote:

> Study of modern linguistic distributions and loanwords indicates that much of highland southern Kenya and northern Tanzania now settled by Nilotic- and Bantu- speakers was formerly occupied by people who spoke languages that may be classified as Southern Cushitic (Ehret 1974)

After some preliminary googling about this topic, I repeatedly find references citing Ehret's work from the 1970s and 1980s.

Has there been any recent work done on this topic within the last 10-15 years?

What are the markers which indicate 'click' sounds of consonants in Xhosa and other southern african languages ?

Ref video (this is what I am talking about) - https://youtu.be/WHHGOYu6Fl0

I know that ṁ and αΈ₯ are added at the end to denote ΰ€‚ and ΰ€ƒ, respectively (while translating sanskrit or bhrami derived text into roman) but I have never seen markers used to indicate where to use clicks while romanization of Xhosa/zulu etc. language.

Are there any historical writings from Southern India regarding the language and culture of Northern India?

There's been many travellers who visited India and wrote their impressions of the place. We know that Herodotus (~400 BC), Ghazni (1000 AD), and Marco Polo (~1350 AD) all wrote their accounts of India.

However, I was wondering if people from Dravidian speaking kingdoms visited other parts kingdoms within South Asia and commented their findings of the people, culture, and language.

Thanks in advance.

Can we talk about Brian Kingsland for a minute? Vile Nilotic Rites.

Well I just made a whole post about this and then like an idiot accidentally clicked a link and lost it. Fuck me. So, here's the short version:

When I first heard VNR I was bummed, missed Dallas's vocals. But I keep listening to it and I've come to realize it's one of their best albums to date. Brian's vocals aren't as brutal, but his delivery is impeccable. Plus, he wrote half of the album. So if Dallas were still in the band, we wouldn't have the masterstroke that is Vile Nilotic Rites. Some of my favorite songs on the album were written by Brian and it really shows how well he meshes with the rest of the band. It's a new chapter for Nile, for sure, but god damn they have it together and I am really looking forward to seeing what else they pull off.

So those are my thoughts. What are yours?

I am looking for a short I found on youtube which was in a Spanish or southern language and featured a man looking in his 30s-50s in a futuristic setting as he enters a room with an old recliner. I do not recall if he pays to enter the room or pays when he gets in the room though the use of a terminal/keypad on the wall. The room looks unclean with various electronics and lights on the wall, almost neon. The man tries to relax in the room in his chair and attempts to cover himself, wanting to sleep. A hologram of an attractive woman wearing very casual light clothing (like a very thin robe or a sheet) appears and tries to interact with the man, asking his name. I think she is an advanced AI program and this room is used for "self pleasure" as the room now seems like something for that use. The man wants to be left alone and to sleep. Through her persistence, she and the man have a very meaningful conversation about life and the great difficulties it can cause and be overall. It seems she is on a timer and starts to fade. The man goes back to the panel to summon her again and the short ends on a heartwarming note of the both of them smiling in response to the meaningful conversation they are having.

I was trying to reference it, but cannot find it! Any ideas?

Edit: After reading in the word cholo a bit more, I apologize if it offended anyone, I guess saying a Mexican accent would have been better all around
