A list of puns related to "Southern And Northern Dynasties"
The Northern and Southern Dynasties brought many significant changes toward Chinese civilization with influences from Xianbei/Xiongnu mixture with Sicinization. Buddhism as well flourished in this period along with Daoism and influences of Zoroastrianism from the Sogdians that began to encroach into China which had a huge population by the Tang period. It can also expand the map to the Western Regions and add in The Rourans and Gokturks who were a huge threat to Northern Wei and its successor states of Norther Zhou and Northern Qi. A possible Saga Title by CA in that in either period they chose, there was a plethora of fantastic people such as Emperor Taiwu of Northern Wei and decisive battles that would be perfect for a Saga title and be more enjoyable than Thrones of Brittania. And possible CA can move forward several hundred years to do the pivotal Imjin War which saw numerous extraordinary naval and land battles. The great admiral Yi of Josean was legendary in his own right.
Northem Wei state with Liu Song ruling from the south. Rouran Khanate in North
I know the Japanese also have a particular interest in this era as that's when their recorded history really starts picking up, and with the Chinese, well, you know it was their age of chivalry.
The English sources are woefully bare, and though I know to read some Chinese and Japanese, I have no idea where to start, not being plugged into the East Asian academic community, nor do I know the rigorousness of the particular histories and academia. For example, would Japanese/Taiwanese be more superior to mainland China histories?
After the fall of the Northern Song, did the Jurchen Jin Dynasty that replaced them in the north become more Sinicized overtime (like the examples of the Qing and Yuan Dynasty)? In terms of state policies, how much did they differ at all economically, culturally and administratively from the Northern Song and Southern Song Dynasties?
Been reading history of Chinese capitals and watching this 7minute summary of Chinese dynasties: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFNzX3tYTXU
It would be awesome to have a follow up of the Eight Princes Jin Dynasty with a Northern and Southern dynasties timeframe of China... I donβt think theyβve ever had a two superpower setting of Total War ever before.. plus it would be interesting to see more developed technologies and units with another 100-200 years in the future. What do you think?
Well, in the north, they say "Once upon a time...and so on". A southern fairy tale starts if like this. "You Ain't Gonna Believe This Shit!!!!"
This is the right sub-reddit, right?
The other site is based in Northumberland near the border hence why Leeds is the southern site. My company uses compass directions as a way to distinguish sites on the project. Done that for years and everyone was fine with it until you say somewhere in Yorkshire is southern and then all hell breaks loose.
Everybody (rightfully) denounces the slavery that existed in the southern United States. But in order to understand why and how slavery came to be, we have to look outside of the south.
First off, the slaves that were brought to the United States weren't kidnapped by Americans or Europeans. Africans enslaved other Africans, and sold them all around the world; not just to America. Slavery has been happening in Africa, including their slave trade, since at least 500 BC; and slavery is STILL HAPPENING in parts of Africa. For some reason, this always seems to be overlooked when slavery is discussed. When cops catch a drug dealer selling drugs to a buyer, both of them go to jail. Africa should share the blame.
Even though the slaves were primarily in the southern states, the northern states benefited from the slavery. The northern states had a demand for cotton, tobacco, sugar, and other goods that were produced by slaves. Not only the demand, but wanted it cheap. Cotton was the primary resource, and the raw materials were then sold to the more industrialized northern states where the cotton would be transformed into fabrics and sold for profit. The north denounced slavery while simultaneously getting rich off of the fruits of slave labor.
I am in no way trying to diminish how awful slavery was, or to say that the south is innocent - far from it. The south was wrong for having slaves. But Africa was wrong to sell slaves in the first place. And the north was wrong to benefit from it, even if they were "anti-slavery". I think that people often coddle all Africans as being victims when that's clearly not the case. And people tend to praise the northern states for being anti-slavery while ignoring that the north was built with profits gained from slave labor.
I know how it goes. I do fine in the sun normally too. I'd work outside all day without sunscreen in Michigan or NY (That's not recommended either). BUT, believe me: You NEED sun protection in Florida. The UV is so extreme that you can be burned in shade. A personal anecdote I have is that I once worked on a film in Orlando on an overcast winter day with plenty of tents around and I got the worst sunburn of my life without ever feeling heat. It was years ago and my skin still shows a slight outline of the shirt I was wearing that day.
Basic message: DON'T think like me (I'll be fine, who cares...) DO look up UV indexes and prepare properly.
