A list of puns related to "South Indian Film Industry"
I don't know of a single female south superstar who are worshipped as Vijay , Dulquer Salmaan , Allu , Prabhas and last but not the least Rajnikant.
It's like every actress who gets rejected by Bwood does really well in South india.
Also now South Indians have also stopped making movies on Hindu puranas.
Dulquer Salman, Vijay Sethupathi and Mahesh Babu are among my favorite actors in their respective industries. Does anyone have any trivia/anectode related to these actors that isnt available in wikipedia?
Bhardwaj Rangan has said that Vijay and Ajith are Kamal Hassan and Rajnikanth of this day, do you concur? (Rajnikanth is Rajnikanth of this day, but still...)
What are some popular south indian movies that are not that great? What are some good movies that you think are underrated?
My understanding is that there are many good Tamil and Malayalam movies than Telegu and Kannada movies.
A silly question, can you guys compare south indian actors with bollywood actors in terms of their movies and their personality?
What are some of your questions to the south indian members here?
I had posted this in the weekly discussion thread but didnt get answers. Report if you think this doesnt belong here.
These days i rarely watch movies from either film industry. My room-mate who is from Andhra passionately argues that South Indian movies are far better that Bollywood ones. On asking for the evidence he compares best of the Southern movies to average Bollywood movies.
What do you think guys?
Do you think at least South Indian super stars make better movies than Bollywood super stars?
Will Brahmastra get as much love as a Baahubali?
When Patel broke into stardom, afterΒ Slumdog, he expected to land bigger, stiller parts, but none came. Often he had to βwait for an Indian role to come by, where I could put on a thick accent,β because βthere wasnβt anything else, it was literally the clichΓ©s: goofy sidekick, taxi driver.β For a while he didnβt work. βI was dating my co-star at the time, Freida [Pinto], and she went on to do all of these amazing things. But in a way, she, too, was being type-cast, as this exotic beauty next to all these Caucasian leading men.β
Recently, he has discovered directors β including Lowery and Armando Iannucci, who cast Patel inΒ The Personal History of David CopperfieldΒ β who are unconcerned by the colour of his skin.
But throughout his career, people have also asked why Patel, a British Asian man, has played so many Indian characters. This bothers him. βYouβre kind of like, Where am I allowed to exist? How specific are we going to get with this? What does it mean to be an actor β to just be yourself? Am I only allowed to play a guy whoβs 31 years old? Are you going to check my blood type?β Heβs incredulous. βThe very essence of acting, it asks for you to perform, transform, change, thatβs the allure of the jobβ¦ And sometimes I feel stuck in this cultural no-manβs land. Iβm not British enough to be fully British, not Indian enough to be fully Indian.β

Thanks in advance!
TLDR: sorry, can't summarise it, the thoughts are just too random and haywire.
bollywood takes inspirations, it's not a hidden fact. And not just inspiration for a story or a scene, but mannerism and styles. Shammi kapoor is well known for high energetic dance moves, he was known as the indian Elvis Presley of he copied/took inspiration for his dance moves from the king of Rock & Roll. Not to mention the rock & roll infuence on songs starring Shammi. then comes the angry young man - Amitabh Bachhan; his stoic and no-nonsense characters and cowboy mannerism in certain movies like sholay gives vibes of western cowboy genre. Take one of his popular style of firing the pistol with one hand crossing over the other, that's the classic cowboy style of firing a pistol (ref. the good the bad and the ugly).
Moving from mannerism to music, the 80s showed the advent of pop (dance-pop, disco pop etc) in india. Credit goes to Bappi Lahiri for that. But it would be crime not to mention ( and give credit) to the emerging indie pop scene with singers like Nadia hassan and producers like Biddu.Biddu tasted global success with his first global hit 'Everybody was kung fu fighting' that topped the billboards of many countries in the 70s. We got songs like 'i am a disco dancer', 'jimmy jimmy','Tarzan my tarzan', 'Pyar bina chain kaha re' from Bappi da and 'boom boom', 'disco deewane', 'Aap jaisa koi mere zindagi aaye' from Nadia hassan which signalled the glorious start of the pop era and 80s music overall, not only india but in the subcontinent. Nadia and his brother's album 'young tarang' still holds the record of the second highest selling album till date, in the entire subcontinent. So which one is the first ? we'll come that later. The 80s paved the way for the 90s. The 90s was the phase where indie pop reached its zenith. We got solo singers like alisha chinai, Daler mehndi, Lucky ali, Subha mudgal, sonu nigam, phalguni pathak ( i am sure you can a name few of your fav as well). And boy bands! yeah, we had our own boy bands back then, can you name any today?.Back then there was Strings, Junoon, Silk route, Aryan, Euphoria, Bombay vikings, ( i will include 'A band of Boys' as well even though they appeared after 2000). We got the taste of pop rock in the 90s with bands like Euphoria and Silk Route. Yeah!
I can write paragraphs on each of these signers and bands and their music but that would make it too long to read. Just a few lines on some o
... keep reading on reddit β‘Just any actor or actress you felt showed so much potential and really liked and then they were kind of screwed over with the films they kept getting or not being utilised enough.
