A list of puns related to "Songs That Have"
Itโs a master peas.
Of course you haven't, it hasn't come out yet!
Me: "No but if you listen to it enough you start to like it."
A high schooler wants to ask his best female friend to prom. Because theyโve been friends for so long, he really wants to make his โpromposalโ special. He talks to his friends, he talks to her friends, and spends days planning the perfect moment. Happily, she says yes!
Over the next couple of months, she sends him different styles and colors of ideas for her dress. He tells honestly that sheโs always been beautiful to him, and privately to himself, he is now realizing he has strong feelings for her. He knows he needs to tell her.
The night of the prom, heโs extremely anxious. What if he says something stupid? What if she laughs at him or doesnโt return his feelings? What if she thinks heโs a terrible dancer? All of these thoughts are swirling around in his mind as both their parents fuss over them and make them pose for a million photos.
They get to the prom and heโs even more anxious. Itโs dark, itโs loud, itโs crowded. They have to shout to be heard. But she grabs his hand, leads him to the dance floor, and they forget everything and everyone around them. A while later, as the songs have gotten slower, he can feel his heart pounding. He thinks itโs finally the right time. He leans down and whispers the truth in her ear, the truth about having loved her since they met in second grade. She starts to cry happy tears, saying sheโs always loved him too, and they kiss. As the song ends and changes to something fast again, he asks her if sheโd like to sit and have a drink. She says yes, could he please get her some punch?
He feels like heโs walking on clouds as he goes over to where the drinks and food are laid out. He wants to get back to her right away and hopes he doesnโt have to wait too long at the refreshments table.
He makes his way through the crowd, and is able to get their drinks and return to his waiting love within just a couple of minutes. Because, would you believe it?
There was no punch line.
Me: You got the goods?
Dealer: I have an alloy of iron and carbon for only $1.
Me: My, what a steel!
Guy: Hey, wanna hear my joke?
Boxer: I dunno, man. People always say I ruin their punchline.
Teacher: What are the four components of DNA?
Student: Actually, there are five: Adenine, cytosine, guanine, thymine--
Teacher: Oh? And the fifth one?
Student: I got I got I got I got...
Me (metric): Why does America use the imperial system? It's stupid.
Friend (imperial): Actually, other places use the imperial system.
Me: Which other places?
Friend: The Galactic Empire.
Guy: I hate spam.
Me: I like sushi.
Me: I like sushi.
Me: I like sushi.
...
Someone: Son of a gun...
Someone Else: Now you've just pistoled me off!
Okay, I know these are not the greatest puns ever, but this is my first post in this subreddit. Anyway, now here are the explanations:
Joke 1 - An alloy of carbon and iron is popularly referred to as steel, and stainless steel costs $2.41, in which the item receives a 58.51% reduction in cost, which is a mighty bargain, also known as a steal.
Joke 2 - Boxing is a sport in which your only goal is to knock your opponent out through a series of punches. The ending or twist of a joke is commonly referred to as the punchline of said joke.
Joke 3 - Check out Kendrick Lamar's DNA song.
Joke 4 - Troops and personnel of the Galactic Empire from Star Wars are commonly referred to as the Imperials.
Joke 5 - Spam musubi, or just spam, is a type of sushi. On the internet, spam is referred to as the repetition of a specific message, especially when emailing, to annoy or advertise a product/website to someone.
Joke 6 - The phrase, "Son of a gun", is a friendlier alternative to the phrase, "Son of a bitch!" Also, when you annoy someone, that means that you pissed them off, which sounds a bit like "pistoled".
The last song on Joni Mitchell's 1969 album "Clouds", is "Both Sides Now". If you listen to that album on vinyl, by the time she sings the lyrics "I've looked at clouds from both sides now", you too, will have looked at "Clouds" from both sides now.
I had a little mishap with a pruning saw in the yard and asked my wife to patch my finger up. She's a nurse, so I figured she'd dress my wound better than I could. She started off with cleaning up the cut with a betadine swab.
Wife: "This might sting a little bit."
Me: Yup. Yup that stings.
Wife: Sing a song. It'll take your mind off of it.
Me: "Roooooxanne, you don't have to put on the red light,
Those days are over you don't have to sell your body to the night..."
Wife: sideways look
Me: "Roooooxanne, you don't have to wear that dress tonight,
Walk the streets for money you don't care if it's wrong or if it's right..."
Wife: sideways look
Me: "You know who sings that, right?"
Wife: "Yeah, the Police."
Me: "Who and the Police?"
Wife: "Sting?"
Me: "Yes it does."
Every year for the past few years, Iโve written music for a tuba ensemble for a summer band camp. Last yearโs music was titled โTubaChristmas in July,โ which had โHallelujahโ by Pentatonix, โCarol of the Bells,โ โYouโre a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,โ and โHave Yourself a Merry TubaChristmas.โ This year Iโm about 90% sure weโre doing rock/classic rock. So far I have โBohemian Rhapsodyโ by Queen, โPaint It, Blackโ by The Rolling Stones, โLivinโ on a Prayerโ by Bon Jovi, โDonโt Stop Believinโโ by Journey, and some fifth song I havenโt chosen yet (BTW Iโm open to song ideas).
I need a pun that mixes Tuba with Rock or with Classic Rock. Similar to how TubaChristmas in July doesnโt include song names, but you know itโs Christmas music on tubas.
And thatโs why we have a song called โLight my Friarโ.

The "beginner" version, when I was younger, was when I would be talking about something, my dad would intentionally misinterpret it so that we could correct him. The objective being to keep up the misinterpretation in as long of a chain as possible.
Me: "Dad! Top Gun is on TV!"
Dad: "Doesn't that movie have that whiny folk singer on the radio in it?"
Me: "...No, dad, that's Tom Petty, not Tom Cruise."
Dad: "Oh, I thought he was Rosanne Barr's husband?"
Me: "No, dad, that's Tom Arnold, not Tom Petty."
Dad: "Oh. I thought he was that golfer..."
Later, once I figured it out, we moved to "advanced mode", where we skip the "correction" and just prove that you catch the reference by making another error in response.
Dad: "Oh. I thought he was that golfer..." (Arnold Palmer)
Me: "...wait, I thought that was the victim in Twin Peaks?" (Laura Palmer)
Dad: "...no, you're thinking of the lady who was the actress in Jurassic Park." (Laura Dern)
And so on. Did anyone else's dad's do something like this? Or any current dads? I currently play a version of this with my wife where she'll put on the radio and I'll intentionally misinterpret the artist. (Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody is playing, I comment to the effect of "God, I love Styx. Such a great song.")
"Baba O'Riley" by The Who begins to play.
Dad: Do you know who plays this song?
Me: Who?
Dad: Yep.
Me: Who plays this song?
Dad: That's right.
Every damn time. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
We started block scheduling today at school, and my friend has a teacher named Song. She said to me, "Ugh, I have two hours of Song."
I thought to myself, damn that's a long song.
So recently there's some news of a student taking food from the community fridge that doesn't belong to them. I'm in charge of making a parody of Iggy's Azeala's song "Fancy". I want to make a joke that uses both things.
The best I can come up with is What does your food in the community fridge and the parody video have in common? It's gonna be as cool as if you found your food in the fridge.
I'm sure there's something better.
Me: "You know what bothers me? We (Canadians) can't sing the "Canada In Our Pockets" song anymore because we can't say the lines "-A penny and a nickle and a quarter and a dime." We don't have pennies anymore :(
Him: Hmm, I guess your right. That just doesn't make any cents.
Years ago I used to use a LexisNexis database of companies that would give corporate information like name, address, and general business description. While most of them were pretty bland, there were a bunch of them with some really cheesy puns, and over a few years I built quite a collection.
Today I share with you "NEXIS IS RIDICULOUS.txt":
We were at my brother's show last night, and he was tuning his guitar in between songs. My dad turns to me and goes "Ah the great Chinese song Tu Ning."
My brother's and I have been playing shows since I can remember, this jokes probably comes out at least once a month. Dad's a persistent, that's for sure.
So, let's see that report card. Hmmm. Not so great this term, eh? Maybe you should have bought some tutor mice.
What are tutor mice? You never heard of tutor mice? No wonder. There's this elf, see, and he trains mice to teach kids different subjects. You buy one mouse for math, another for English, and so on. Each mouse you buy is a guaranteed A.
And the best thing is, this elf doesn't have a shop or anything. He comes to you. All you have to do is sing the song.
What do you mean what song. Everybody knows the song. You just have to sing it like you really mean it, and he'll pop up and sell you some mice. Like this:
โซI'LL BUY MICE, E-E-ELF...โซ
โซDON'T WANNA 'B'!โซ
โซI'LL BUY MICE, ELF!โซ
I was ordering pressure gauges and sent all the specifications to my vendor. Three inch face, 0-100psi, 1/4" npt thread......what do you have in stock? He replied back with no 1/4". So I replied, yeah that is my favorite Zeppelin song, what about the gauge.
So my dad was in a choir a long time ago and the sopranos were having trouble hitting a high a in one of the songs they were doing
The director says "alright i think we'll take a break and get back to that part"
Without a beat my dad responds "i guess that would be a Hiatus"
He still tells the story of the time he told the joke like 10 years later.
Me: "Have you heard that song called 'Christmas Cookies'?"
Dad: "No, who sings it?"
Me: "George Strait."
Dad: "Is he related to George Crooked?"
My 6th grade teacher had a reputation of being the meanest, strictest teacher on campus, but once I made it through his class, I realized he could be a jokester, too.
-In math class, he liked to tell a long, complicated story about a boy encountering a genie, eventually wishing for some odd things, just to end it with the punchline, "Gee, I'm a tree." (geometry)
-Another one of his long jokes consisted of a man being chased by a hearse. In a fit of desperation, he throws some Halls throat lozenges at it...."and the coffin went away."
-During study time, he would sometimes grab a balloon from his desk, blow it up, and proceed to slowly let air out of it, just to produce the squeaky noise.
-His favorite short joke: "Doctor, doctor, I broke my arm in three places!" "I advise you to stay out of those places."
-He was also probably the all-time leader of correcting, "Can I go to the bathroom?"
-He would also occasionally play opera music at the end of the day, not dismissing the class until we made it through an entire song without laughing.
-There were also a couple words that incited a specific reaction from him. Many of these words showed up often in history class, which is his favorite subject (probably because of all the jokes):
CARGO - "cargo beep beep".
RAY - Whenever the word or name "ray" was mentioned, he would always respond with "You can call me Ray, or you can call me Jay, but ya doesn't have to call me Johnson." Needless to say, we hated the math lesson about rays.
HUDSON - During mentions of the Hudson River in history, he would always sing back "HUDSON 3-2-700."
OKLAHOMA - Whenever Oklahoma came across, he would sing the famous line from Oklahoma! the musical. (with an especially long "ohhhhhhh!")
SURELY - "...and don't call me Shirley." (but of course, who doesn't respond with that?)
GERONIMOOOO!!!! - pretty self explanatory.
Sticking with these obscure quotes and references, his two favorite days of the year are November 5th and March 15th.
Anyway, it was a fun year with that teacher. I'll add more of his quirks if I think of any.
-Also,
... keep reading on reddit โกA while ago I was sat down to dinner with my family, a delicious meal as it always is, ta very much Mum. Throughout dinner and the usual post-dinner chatter Dad had been muttering "My my myyyy Delilah..." to himself. Usually you can ignore a bit of a quiet singsong someone outside of a conversation is having to themselves but every 10-15 minutes he'd go "My my myyyy Delilah...". A good 2 hours after starting our dinner my sister feels the need to ask "Dad, why do you keep singing my my my delilah? Was there a song on the radio or something?". Dad gives a confused little look and goes "Hmmm? What? Oh dear oh dear oh dear... It's actually a medical problem. I went to the doctor about it recently" then raises his head trying to conceal that grin that we all know and dread. "He said I had Tom Jones Syndrome. I asked if it was common. He just shrugged and said it's not unusual". I gave him two thumbs up and a look of respect, most of the table gave a horrified groan. 2 Hours! the dedication on that man!
We have the old-rock radio station playing in our office and I was mockingly humming along to the tunes of one of the songs.
Then my supervisor says, "Oh I know you are not making fun of Def Leppard."
"It's not like they would be able to hear me if I was." I replied.
No one laughed, but the manager walked out of his office to say, "Come on guys, you have to admit that one was good."
So she loves cooking and decided to make this spicy chicken soup that you put over rice. So I'm eating and she asks
Her "how do like it"
Me "its really good"
Her "I tried something different with the broth what do you think?"
Me "I like it, its just a good thing you didn't have anyone helping you"
Her "what why?
Me "because too many cooks could spoil the broth"
I then continued to sing it and she hates me and the song/video.
Sent my dad a text to wish him Happy Father's Day. ( My Dad loves texting so that's why I did it in a text ) He mentioned that he was part of the Elks Serving Club. I asked what he did in the club and here was the exchange.
Dad: No song singing here!! We raise money for small charities, etc... Have the odd drink!! lol
Me: The odd drink, eh?
Dad: Yep, don't touch the even ones.
Me: Ha ha
Dad: We have the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, etc...
Me: I get it. What do you do with the even ones?
Dad: Don't count them!!!
"He takes off her dress now..."
"Why was he wearing her dress?", My Dad
To the young innocent me, that was a puzzling question. (In case you have no idea, Mr. Brightside is a song by The Killers that was popular around 2004)
