On 20th of April 1827, 194 years ago Giorgios Karaiskakis gave this letter to Mehmed Pasha who was the then commander-in-chief of the Ottoman forces in Epirus during the Greek War of Independence.

One of the delegates to the 1878 Congress of Berlin was Marshal Mehmed Ali Pasha, a man who was born in Prussia in 1827 and ran away as a young man to the Ottoman Empire. How much were young men of that time exposed to and influenced by portrayals of the Ottoman Empire, both positive and negative?
Was Kavalalı Mehmed (Muhammed) Ali Pasha Albanian or Turk?
Non-Turkish writings always says he was Albanian. But two history Professors (different times, different programs) said he was Anatolian Turkish who migrated to Kavala. They said documents were found. If i remember correctly one of them said his family came from Erzincan, other said from Konya.

Why did Sultan Mehmed IV order the execution of Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pasha after losing the Battle of Vienna (aka Siege of Vienna) in 1683?
While I understand this sounds obvious, I kinda curious on why Mehmed IV order his execution, the procces, what happened with his body and if other Ottoman generals deal with the same consequences after losing battles.
