A list of puns related to "Software Magazine"
I stumbled upon this site when I was looking for a Borland C++ version that compiles natively in DOS. I found PDFs of the complete set plus thousands of other subjects for old hardware of all sorts.
There are a bunch of PDFs for IBM service/reference manuals/catalogs as well.
I thought you guys might find something of interest there.
When I did mostly web development, online magazines like Smashing Magazine or CSS Tricks, helped me a great deal to learn and stay up to date in this ever-moving industry.
Now I'm doing a lot in infrastructure, microservice architectures, systems programming, etc. and I miss resources of similar quality in this area. Or let's say: I can't find some. It's either all over Medium, in personal blogs, or somewhere lost in the DZone jungle (DZone actually comes close to what I look for, but I see e.g. Smashing putting a lot more care in curating and editing).
Do you have any recommendations?

you can either access it using ftp which shows you all files and mostly has english folder names: ftp://ftp.hs-niederrhein.de/pub/
or you can use the web interface which is fully german but includes descriptions for each file. however it doesn't list all folders:
http://ftp.hs-niederrhein.de/~ftp/
using google translate for the web interface also works pretty well. (probably the most useful link) (you will need to right click and save instead of just left clicking when running the site through google translator it seems) https://translate.google.de/translate?hl=de&tab=wT&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fftp.hs-niederrhein.de%2F~ftp%2Findex.htm
direct link to the games folder (imo the best part) including english descriptions: https://translate.google.de/translate?sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fftp.hs-niederrhein.de%2F~ftp%2Fpcw9ga.htm
From what Iβve seen, the home-made springs for DIY magazines are wound somewhat arbitrarily. That canβt possibly be good for reliability. We could probably improve the reliability of home-made magazines by taking a careful, scientific approach to spring design. Iβm thinking about creating a piece of free software similar to βFED17β (a software product produced by Hexagon, a German company, Google it) to achieve this. Such a piece of software could eventually autogenerate 3D printable, notched spring jigs given design parameters. Unfortunately I have no background in spring design (or engineering in general), and I have many questions. I figure here is a good place to ask themβ¦
