A list of puns related to "Software Guard Extensions"
So Intel's "fix" for plundervolt which has been released by Lenovo supposedly locks the CPU voltage to default settings. What I can assume that means is that undervolting for us X1 Extreme owners is not really an option anymore, especially new machines with the update from the facotory.
It sounds like a legitimate protection, but a quick Google search turns up nothing but exploits. The Wikipedia page briefly describes what it does, and then goes on to list the various attacks that have been demonstrated against it.
My question is, given all of these exploits (and some more likely yet to be discovered), is my Windows PC safest with SGX enabled, disabled, or software controlled?
> The Minnesota Timberwolves and guard Patrick Beverley have reportedly discussed a contract extension.
> Jon Krawczynskiย of The Athletic said the team views re-signing Beverley as a "priority" this season.
Full Quote:
> The Cavaliers remain interested in a long-term deal with guard Collin Sexton next summer after failing to agree on a rookie extension prior to the season. Sources said Sexton sought a four-year deal in the $100 million range, but the Cavaliers wanted a fifth year on any agreement. Cleveland has revamped its roster, adding Evan Mobley, Ricky Rubio and Markkanen, and currently is in the midst of a strong 7-3 start in the Eastern Conference. Sextonโs role has changed with additional talent around him, and the lack of an extension provides both sides with the opportunity to evaluate the situation. Sexton is averaging 16 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists so far this season.
After clean install some update kept failing to install with the following error code:
> Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070103: Intel Corporation - System - 7/3/2017 12:00:00 AM - 1.9.100.39278.
After doing a bit of research it turns out that this is the "Intel Software Guard Extensions" driver. Device Manager confirmed that there is an unrecognized device. I assumed that this is some hardware specific bug and proceeded to debug it.
Reinstalled the OS - Didn't help. Reflashed the bios - same result. After losing hope and getting through pages 3, 4 of Google ๐ฎ I found some recent posts in MS and Intel forums that suggested a fix that works.
I decided to share it here since many people seem to be affected without even knowing.
What was suggested and resolved my issue is downloading the missing driver directly from the official Microsoft update catalog. This is the link to the exact driver.
The installation is standard. After reboot "Intel Software Guard Extensions" should be in Device Manager under the "Software components" category.
I'm using Dell XPS 15 9560.
Edit: If you have no errors in Device Manager after enabling View > Show hidden devices or your hardware doesn't support Intel SGX you are good, no need to do anything.

The ESPboy gadget I made myself about 1 year ago, based on the well-known ESP8266 80/160Mhz, 4/8Mb microcontroller with a 128x128 TFT color display, HQ speaker, RGB LED, battery with charging module, and WiFi onboard.
The result is a handheld, portable, modular multifunctional platform that can be made in a couple of hours from parts, costing about $12 and carried in your pocket or bought ready to action on tindie.com.

There is also a simpler option - the ESPboy breadboard version, which requires just 6 inexpensive parts from Aliexpress. You can find the assembly manual at Instructables.com.

ESPboy1 is a fully open-hardware and open-software project, so schematics and PCBs can be found at easyeda.com, and software at GitHub. All components are standard, not expensive, and readily available from reputable suppliers.

ESPboy can be used as a platform for learning STEM, rapid prototyping, a retro gaming console, neo-retro games developing platform, IoT, and offensive security tests multi-gadget.
There is an extension connector with all interfaces pins(SPI, I2C, UART, I2S, etc.).
You can connect native extension modules to this connector, as well as make your own upgrades

ESPboy is programmed easily using Arduino IDE or PlatformIO, as the ESP8266 is almost completely compatible with the Arduino ecosystem and its libraries.
For advanced users, there is a native Espressif Systems SDK-IDF. Various additional programmi

Due to some corporate device limitations, I need to do some work within Google Sheets rather than Excel. Sheets' built-in shortcuts are very different than Excel's. Anyone have a clever workaround to learning all of these new shortcuts?
