>These things should just be basic common sense goals for any form of government, yet I'd say no major party would consider these to be noble ambitions at the moment.
I'm aware not all here are this Labour parliamentary group's biggest fans, however I thought I'd share that they are due to hold a public Zoom event on Wednesday evening. Link is here if anyone is interested:

In light of recent events, this may be an opportunity for us to put on some pressure as Labour members and supporters to get the SCG to do something serious about the current situation. Because let's be honest, Starmer should go, and we need to be more ruthless, and by that I mean us, the membership.
Remember, only 40 MPs are required to trigger a leadership contest. The SCG hold more than 30. There's a genuine possibility that we could put on a bit more pressure to make it happen.
I wouldn't worry about who the challenger is, so long as they are positioned to Starmer's left. The reason is simple: Sir Starmer has proven himself incapable of leading the party, if you can even call it leadership, so anyone else challenging him is worth a try.
Anyone up for a small "we did it reddit!" moment? I'd be up for trying.
Do they have one? If not, why the hell not?
Iβm not on the Labour left, but itβs easy to see that recent events have energised the left of the party. I think itβs a wasted opportunity if all this energy is being put into defending Corbyn, a busted flush, without enabling a member of the SCG to gain some momentum and become the face of the Labour left.
Jezza is done and now seems like the time for you guys to be putting the pieces into motion for an actual succession plan. Corbyn becoming leader without actually having serious intentions for winning it was a fluke, so relying on that kind of good fortune again is unwise in my opinion. Starmer had clearly been planning for years to one day become leader of the party, and it got him in a position to be liked by all wings of the party and subsequently dominate the leadership election. Iβm yet to see any similar movements from SCG members. Yes the next leadership election probably wonβt be until after the next General Election, but you donβt want a situation where your candidate gets comfortably beaten again like RLB did.
TL;DR - The SCG are missing the trick if they donβt use the energy from recent events to put forward a true successor to Corbyn.
We're four years away from a General Election, so if we're going to get rid of Starmer, we may as well start now.
