Siona People Puns

Dont really understand why people are saying shes the worst skin in the pass... but when she was first released people were so excited to get her rofl. If you generally dont like the skin thats one thing, but to me people are treating her like its Zoey from season 4 where everyones hates her for no reason honestly. The worst skin in the pass is Jonsey because hes boring, with the mask hes kinda cool but still.

I just think everyone is hating on her just because. But like I said if you generally dont like her, thats another thing.

I genuinely want to know, no hate. She's not my favorite, but she's kinda cute. I might occasionally use her but she won't be my main. But why do people hate her? My brother hates her and it's not a sexist thing cause he actually likes to play as girl skins. Siona's emote is stupid but I don't get why she is hated so much. She's better than Scuba Jonesy, or any Jonesy. Also she's better than Fade for sure.

How is it that Leto II, who has access to nearly infinite human, technological, religious, genetic, and natural resources, cannot travel anywhere on Arrakis without getting shot at? Perhaps God Emperor is just a window into a rather volatile period on Arrakis after millennia of security. Perhaps Leto II wants to be a personal lightning rod for dissent in his empire and permits or even encourages these threats. Still, it is hard to imagine why a ruler with his immense knowledge, power, and vision would be in constant physical danger in his own capital.

So something interesting is that in children of Dune I got the impression that maybe Leto could be wrong. The first is when he is talking to Paul and Paul says he did NOT see extinction of mankind if the golden path isn't taken. Hence why he tells Leto not to do it. And Leto even says Paul's vision is as good if not better than his.

The second is at the very end of children Leto admits that he really is an abomination. That he let an old king who enjoyed being worshipped as a god dominate his psyche.

Could it be Leto is seeing what he wants to see? That he is biased and the golden path isn't necessary? Paul mentions Hitler in Messiah. Is Leto space hitler? Says that his torturing is for mankind when it isn't necessary? Hasn't every powerful leader believed they NEEDED to do it for the greater good? It reminds me of parents who often say they are doing something out of love and "for their children's sake" or "you will thank me for this later" when in actuality they are often just being biased, wrong, etc. Like when parents beat their children for not doing math all day (literally know someone who lived through this).

Then God Emperor Of Dune takes on a whole new perspective. Of a masochistic and sadistic madman who thinks he is a hero. A book written so well it makes you sympathize with Leto. But maybe FH is going "Hah, see! Mankind is as foolish as I said! They can be brainwashed into believing evil is okay by charisma and sympathy etc!" Afterall doesn't Siona kill Leto specifically because she believes his entire torturing was unnecessary and Leto was a madman?

Maybe there were other ways to ensure mankinds survival.

Anyway the fact it could be interpreted in different ways makes it a great book.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

No one truly cares about Leto and it’s so frustrating. Kinda disingenuous to say Hwi did, and sadly the only solace he was given was contaminated. He explicitly requested she not jump into bed with another man without his approval. And she agreed to marry him! WHY THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO CARE ABOUT A CUCKOLD ROMANCE THAT IGNORES ANY RAMIFICATIONS OF LETO CARRYING THE ENTIRE WEIGHT OF HUMAN SURVIVAL ON HIS BACK? It’s intellectually grating this even happened at all and how much the story continued to linger on it.

There’s no catharsis when Hwi shares Leto’s “soul” or calls him “Love.” It was probably a week in between since she was doting on Duncan and calling him “Love” too. Leto II out here sacrificed EVERYTHING in order to save the human species and amidst it all... Hwi and Duncan’s horny shenanigans. Fuck me it’s embarrassing. I probably had to sit through a dozen POV chapters of Duncan pining for Hwi and feeling emasculated. Additional note, the idea of making Duncan homophobic was hilarious, I want some of that spice Frank was having.

The stain on the story was not worth the return at all to me:

What actually was achieved in the end? Duncan wasn’t acknowledged once by Hwi in her last chapters.
Will she, won’t she pregnant with Duncan’s child??
Then: She dies anyways lol doesn’t matter.
What strikes me the most is that Duncan had the audacity to blame and straight up murder Nayla for following his own plan to blow up the bridge. Did it not occur to him the cortège of a wedding party might... include the people being wed, together?

Duncan also seemed to not be affected by the death of Hwi enough, already holding Siona’s (who was somehow absolved of blame for Hwi’s death) hand and thinking about giving her babies.. LOL

The endpoint of the whole affair of Hwi and Duncan resolves in Duncan (potentially) learning consequence and responsibility for his actions? What a shit payoff, I say and for reasons above it feels very empty and easily avoidable in its melodrama.

Mourning Leto II rn. And shoutout to my boy Moneo for being able to find his peace in the end, in spite of being killed by his own daughter.

Was it necessary or was it Leto becoming an abomination like Alia and making a deal with Harum an autocrat and dictator who wants to be worshiped and wants to rule with an iron fist akin to Alia’s deal with the Baron?

At the end of Children of Dune, he says, "When I was asked if I was abomination, I answered in the negative. That was my first treachery."

He also talks about having formed a community of his ancestors one that he leads along with Paul, his grandfather who was killed by the infamous bull and of course Harum.

Leto also says "I am not, in truth, Harum. And I am not my father. Then again, I am not the second Leto."

Is that not an abomination like the BG feared?

Who is Harum?

Interesting Harum who is described as a God King aids Leto to become the God Emperor to lead a group of people across his imperium who are easily kept in hand and led by Leto’s order/peace and a superstitious sublime group of bred individuals in the fishspeakers.

Could Leto have been wrong about the Golden Path? It is argued about the nature of prescience whether the oracle sees the vision or creates it. When Leto talks with Paul in the desert Paul states that he did not see humanities extinction if the Golden Path was not followed or taken. Leto also states that Paul’s oracular vision is better than his. It can be argued how far Paul chose to look down the path after the Jihad and toward his terrible purpose but he admits to Leto his auditor that he did not see it.

Could the reason Paul warns Leto from the Golden Path is the same as when he offered his aid to Alia, that he could see that Leto was being possessed by an ancestor, that he could see his madness? Harum was an ancient king who wanted to be worshiped and was charismatic and Leto openly allied with him and allowed him to dominate his personality. How much of that conversation in the desert was father and son and how much was Harum convincing Paul to die for him s

Looking to see what people's best generically good as well as specific cards in decks/strategies have been this year.

Some of mine are;

Kaldheim

[[Spectral Deluge]] - good boardwipe if you run enough islands.

[[Kardur, Doomscourge]] - has always performed when got him out and especially if able to recur the goad effect.

[[Starnheim Courser]] - good artifact and enchantment reduction in white.

Strixhaven

[[Resculpt]] - decent exile removal.

[[Plumb the Forbidden]] - either in response to a boardwipe draw a load of cards or in the right kind of deck is just so much value.

[[Access Tunnel]] - doesn't go in every deck but in ones that want it (for me, Feather/Veyran) having another Rogue's Passage is great.

[[Golden Ratio]] - It's floor is low obviously, but I have never not drawn at least 3 cards for 3 mana. Underrated IMO.

MH2

[[Ornithopter of Paradise]] - 2 mana ramp. Might be gobbled up by a boardwipe later but will do job in early game.

[[Liquimetal Torque]] - This over-performs in my red decks that has a fair amount of artifact destruction. Again, 2cmc ramp with upside.

DnD

[[Moon-Blessed Cleric ]] - Cheap enchantment tutor, always performed well in decks that draw cards well (for me Brago/Siona)

[[Priest of Ancient Lore ]] - Good for card draw in a blink deck.

[[Eye of Vecna]] - this card draw has been surprisingly useful, comes down early with a card and invest whatever mana you can later to get a bit more advantage. Repeatable card draw at a fair rate.

Midnight Hunt

[[Rite of Harmony]] - an enchantress effect for 1 turn.

Crimson Vow

[[Reckless Impulse]] - more card advantage help for red early game.

[[Kessig Flamebreather]] - another burn style creture in Guttersnipe/Thermo Alchemist/Firebrand Archer vein is always useful for those decks.

Paul's (et al) prescient abilities being seen as 'psychic' or 'extra sensory' always bothered me a touch as they seemed more 'magic' when everything else was quite grounded and scientific. So, I argue that Paul's prescience is simply being able to predict possible outcomes with frightening accuracy with the data available to him with his evolved mind via BG breeding program, mentat training and exposure to the spice. Just like a seasoned sports fan can call a play or a result, they aren't psychic, they just know the game, the players, how to spot the signs etc. Paul just has the most advanced mind at this point in time and is able to predict with accuracy the long reaching consequences of his actions. Maybe that's how everyone else sees it too. Opinions?
