A list of puns related to "Silesian"
I had a question regarding Γ΄, the Silesian letter from the ΕlabikΕrzowy szrajbΕnek (the relatively newer alphabet that was created by the Pro Loquela Silesiana organization).
Does it always represent the [uΜ―Ι] sound? Or can it sometimes be pronounced as [uΜ―o]?
I have submitted the application for summer semester exchange at the SUT Faculty of Chemistry in Gliwice. I have received "positive feedback" on my application and I'm now waiting for the departmental coordinator to approve my application.
The positive feedback reply was just before Christmas and I still haven't received no new info and I'm starting to worry. Is this step just a formality or can I be rejected at this point and on what basis? I'd really love to spend a semester in Poland. Thanks ahead to anyone who replies.
Hey guys!
So i just got into a relationship with my girlfriend and her family is Silesian. Hope this is the right subreddit to ask.
Next week I'm gonna meet them and I just want to make a good first impression.
So could you help me out with some easy vocab? Stuff like "Hi my name is EduanGiddbert, nice to meet you."
"Thanks" and "you're welcome" would be nice as well :)
If you've got any further ideas, I'd be thankful.
I have a question regarding pronunciation in the Silesian language.
How is this pair of vowels pronounced, "iy?" Is the sound similar to the inclined "e" from the Middle Polish language (so something along the lines of [e])?
Here are few words that feature "iy."
Also, are there any good resources where I can listen to the Silesian language (i.e. videos, audio recordings, internet radio broadcasts). Please let me know.
Guys I'm very curious. As far as I know these two are proper minorities of Poland. There are obviously others but these have sizable populations. Are they ethnically distinct minorities? I wonder cause I'm a Turkish citizen but ethnically Kurdish. Is the case similar to us or they are somewhat Polish?
Hello! I am a Silesian from its Diaspora. I would like to write a course for the Silesian language (or ethnolect, dialect, who cares). I really need help from people that actually are from Silesia and speak the Silesian Language. Please go to r/Silesian or r/szulaslunskiego (my subreddit, I know, the name is too long, I'm dumb)! Thanks!
I am going to travel to Moravian-Silesian region in business for few days in next week. There will route through Ostrava - Opava - Olomuc. Suppose, I will not have lot of time for tourist attractions.
Could you advice what region kitchen I should to taste, except of knedliki and vepΕove koleno, of course, and where to buy it?
Maybe some other advice? DΔkuji.
Hi Germans,
My mother who is now deceased was born in Bytom, Upper Silesia in 1942. I want to know what your opinion of Silesia. I realize its no longer German, and all of my family were displaced persons, they left for Koeln and Berlin, then NY. Was this area considered a far away rural area? I plan on going there eventually just to see where my family was from.
In the US, we have stereotypes for people from the South as being country folks aka hillbillies. Would this apply to Silesia? I am just trying to get an idea how Silesia is seen.
For the Conquer Silesia mission as Prussia I still needed Ratibor, Vratislav and Opole. Austria however went on a reunification war with Bohemia. Now I can't attack Bohemia without losing my strongest ally. And the claims of later mission on Poland is also difficult;
How would you fix this? Prepare and Wait for the religious wars?
##Occupied Silesia ###July, 1946
What we all knew what was brewing has come. The Poles have begun expulsions of Germans in Pomerania and Silesia. The Deutsche spirit has not yet been broken, and we will not go down without a true battle. The Bolshevik scum has occupied our homeland after years of grueling war on the Eastern Front. No longer shall this be the case starting July 4th, 1946. We will remind the Bolsheviks what the Eastern Front was like for them just as it was for us. The Reich has been shattered, destroyed, broken, and occupied by an international coalition. Much of Eastern Europe is in ruins, and until the occupation ends it will remain so. The now Volkdeutsche east of the Oder-Niesse River are facing a life or death situation, and we will remind them what the stakes are. The coming months will determine whether we live, or die.
Silesian Werwolf units will begin going door to door, informing Germans of what is happening, and instructing them to leave their homes before the Poles arrive and leave for mountains or forests, where or recruiting them outright into the several bands of Werwolves that will take on this task. Our partisans will distribute whatever supplies we have and will build shelters for the refugees. Our aim to is fully control popular support, which is ripe for the picking since the deportations have begun. Unsere ehre ist treue!
