A list of puns related to "Sichuan Normal University"
I will be living in that area of the city soon and was just curious what sort of stuff is within walking distance of the school.
Hi everybody,
I know it's pretty late considering that exchange deadlines are November 1st, but I was wondering if anybody has taken part in the exchange to Sichuan University and if so... where they got a list of their offered exchange courses? I have literally tried everything, even reaching out to the school themselves, and I can't find any specific information.
It would be super helpful if anybody could provide me with course start dates as well as specific courses offered at the University for the 2022 winter term. Thank you so much.

Today I made some mapo tofu, one of my favorite comfort foods, but I might've ruined it by trying to add toasted ground sichuan peppercorns. I recently got some sichuan peppercorns to try and use in other dishes but the first time I used it, I thought I put in too much because one bite of my dish and all I tasted was floral soapiness and the usual mouth numbing. It was so bad I had to trash the whole dish and restart.
I thought, maybe today will be different and I put about a teaspoon of the pepper into my completed dish and tossed everything. Seemed okay during a taste test, but once I sat down and ate a whole bowl of it with rice, the floral soapy taste hit me like a truck. I was so disappointed because I really wanted to incorporate this new seasoning into my usual Asian cooking. I cook very Asian American and I tend to mix and match flavors from all different Asian cuisine (I'm half Thai, Laotian, and Chinese for context).
I googled what the problem might have been and some say it's the quality of the peppercorns. But I think it was how I toasted and ground them. Someone said that to remove some of the flavor (the soapy floral flavor is its natural flavor - nothing wrong with it, just not for me), you have to only toast and grind the shells. The peppercorns I got from the Asian store were whole with the inner seeds and little stems still attached.
Does anyone else have better luck with sichuan peppercorns or similar anecdotes? Even when I added salt to the grounded peppercorns, it was still too much floral flavor for me. Oh and some say it's similar to how people don't like cilantro/coriander but I have no issue with cilantro.
Hello everyone, I'm considering attending the Chinese language program at Sichuan University starting in the fall semester (assuming things will be opened up for foreigners by then) and I would like to know if anyone has had any experience in the program.
Some background on myself: I passed my HSK 4 exam back in October with a pretty good score, and I've continued studying since then. I've been to Chengdu before, and it's absolutely my favorite city in China, and I have several Chinese friends who live in the area.
Is the Chinese program at Sichuan University preferable over similar programs at other universities in the Chengdu area? From my research, it seems that private language schools in the city would be a better option for individual, expedited learning, but the tuition cost for Sichuan University makes that more attractive for me.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on SU and learning Chinese in Chengdu!
I was in the process of dropping some of my subjects when I was asked by my school to provide a letter from my parent/guardian and their ID.
Is this normal? Just asking because I'm surprised by it. I don't know how this is necessary when I'm of legal age. Is it because I'm in my 1st year?
Iβm taking classes at a community college that isnβt in my area because of a deal where I get a tuition waiver through my job that only works for the one school.
I have been accepted into a 4 year university and have selected a major. I already am a transfer student and want to take a few classes before actually starting school because Iβm not getting a full 2 years from my associate degree.
I am taking 3 classes this semester, and they told me they would transfer. I need to take 2 next semester but one of the courses I need the most for my degree has never been transferred into the school by anyone.
I was told they could not tell me if it would transfer in or what course it would transfer as. All I got was a guess by the transfer lady that it will transfer but she didnβt specify what course I would get credit for.
Iβm worried because I need my schools General Chemistry 1 to equal the new schools General Chemistry 1 and the new school has a variety of lesser Chemistry electives.
Iβm already taking a General Chemistry 1 prerequisite that will only transfer as another elective and another prerequisite this semester, so Iβm really taking 5 courses to get credit for 3.
Would you just keep going and take it? Iβm just upset because I feel like I should be provided with the service of transfer evaluations before taking the course. They evaluated all my other credits I have taken, which matters less to me because Iβve already done the work.
Iβm 43F taking another course that will help me on my career path. Itβs basically a course that helps me get points. Once I accumulate enough points through education, volunteering and mentorship I can become registered and have the career that I should have had at 25.
The instructor had us all write 4 paragraphs about ourselves. Who are we? Where are we going. I wrote about my cult experience and how I wasnβt allowed to pursue higher education and also that I want to gain confidence etc.
7 out of 8 other students are younger than me and have lots of letters behind their names. They talk about their degrees in counseling, psychology or horticulture.
I feel quite intimidated. How do you guys get over the insecurity of feeling like you are so βbehindβ in education?
Any helpful tips would be helpful.
I answered I'm not sure, on one hand I love Chinese, but on the other I love Chai, niece.
Pretty much the title Iβm worried about averages needing to be high to mid 90βs for programs that used to be high 80βs before Covid (McMaster Life science, McMaster Kinesiology, etc)
All in person classes etc?
Im first year btw
Edit: All my teachers*
Do you know or have any classmates that is age 26, 27? Is it perfectly normal? Do people get judged at for going to University slightly later than the rest of the 19-21 year old peeps
I am planning to go for Computer Science course. So was wondering if there would be any "older" age group there
Cheers
obligatory first post/mobile apology!
Hi, I'm a trans man (18ftm) and I just started T (injectable testosterone cypionate). I looked up my dose, 20 mg/week, and most of the answers tell me that's the microdose, and the typical initial dose is 50 mg/week. To any other trans men out there who also use t-cypionate, is it normal to be put on the microdose in the beginning?
thanks guys!
I'm a HNitec Year 1 student, planning to go Poly after completing my HNitec. I was thinking of applying the ITE & Poly back to back Sponsorship. So total bond would be 6years. Then after that qualify for OCS by own merit, then wait 3years then go Uni then after that serve my bond. (Let's say I will also have a Uni placing)
So I will enlist army at ard the age of 21 year old. Then +2years of NS then 3 year bond, then ard 26,27 year old liao
Also, do you all recommend this route?
Always interested to hear how it is at other universities. I think it's nice lecturers are passionate about the subject and want to share their knowledge.
Is it normal for someone in thier mid to late 20s to be a university student, and therefore engage in typical univerity student behavior? (ie partying/socializing/drinking, within the realm of reason and responsiblity, while aslo acheving thier academic goals?)
Ps. By partying I dont nessisarilly mean totally crazy, balls to walls, all out frat parties.. but sufficently enjoyable social events where people partake in thier substance of choice in a responsible and mature way.
Bars and clubs scenes are also a factor in this question depending on campus culture, country and laws surrounding the drinking age.
Hello
as you can see by the prompt, i'm really interested in playing around with a University Setting but with Monster Girls. so here are my Ideas
Setting 1: I am a normal student who shows up to a monster girl university. i was born to a Wolf Monster Girl mother and a Normal Human Male father, i defied the odds and was born as a 1/1000 chance of a monster girl giving birth to a Human Male child. So due to having a partial amount of monster girl DNA in my blood i can register for this University. You see me when i enter on my first day and you're intrigued. now the freedom is open to you! you can play whatever monster girl you want. there a few that i won't be too keen on but send me who you'd like to play. when you see me are you rude to me, do you feel sorry for me, do you want to be my friend, maybe you just are curious about me then dont care. you can play this however you like. im excited to hear what you come up with
Setting 2: Basically the same setting as the one above but this one is more of a narrator role. instead of playing just one monster girl you can play the entire university. play as many or as little characters as you want and make my life either harder or easier at this university. the freedom is all yours. only thing i ask is to include a few monster girls i do like such as Cat Girls, Scylla, Lamia, Slime Girls, centaurs, etc.
Setting 3: A Monster Girl at a Normal University. so this one is about you more sticking out in a normal university. its similar to the first one as you can write up whatever you character you like, just i would like to agree with you on the monster girl you choose that's all. you can be mean or nice, tall or short, big or skinny it's completely up to you. i want you to have fun building an awesome character that you love to play.
Really happy to hear from you all, let me know what you think and what you want to get out of this roleplay as well. it doesnt have to be explicitly hyper sexual. i just think this would be a fun setting to enjoy.
