A list of puns related to "Shelly Name"
I've recently been discussing our show with other VAs and I've decided to do this after hours of consideration, ask away!
Name:
Shelly - "Shelly's spread-fire shotgun blasts the other team with buckshot. Her Super destroys cover and keeps her opponents at a distance!"
Shelly's name containing the word "shell" is a reference to bullet shells, which is appropriate because of the weapon she wields, a shotgun.
Gadgets:
Fast Forward - "Shelly dashes ahead, skipping a few unnecessary steps!"
This one is pretty straight forward; Shelly moves "forward" "fast". It's also a reference the "fast forward" feature on videos, allowing you to skip through certain parts of the video faster, similar to how Shelly skips a few steps using this gadget.
Clay Pigeons - "On activation, Shelly's next main attack focuses the fire to a smaller area and increases the range."
Clay pigeon shooting is a sport in which people compete to see who can hit a far-away clay target. The sport is called clay pigeon shooting is because, originally, live pigeons were used as targets. After these contests were made illegal, people began using clay targets However, the idea of using birds stuck, and so the competition became known as "Clay Pigeon Shooting". This contest measures accuracy with a gun, which is what Shelly is hoping to achieve by lengthening her attack and making it narrower.
Star Powers:
Shell Shock - "Shelly's Super shells slow down enemies for 4.0 seconds!"
"Shell Shock" is a phrase coined during World War I, used to describe the PTSD soliders suffered during the war. It can also be used to describe surprise or shock in general. Opponents who are hit by Shelly's super are traumatized, or simply surprised, by it, causing them to slow down and lose speed. This name also works because of the "shell" reference mentioned earlier
Band-Aid - "When Shelly falls below 40% health, she instantly heals for 1800 health. Band-Aid recharges in 15.0 seconds."
A band-aid is a a type of adhesive bandage applied to wounds in order to cover them up and protect against infection. And while they don't have any direct medical properties, they do ultimately make you healthier by protecting wounds and letting them heal, which explains why it heals Shelly in-game. However, band-aids take time to be applied and for their effects to reap any benefits, which also justifies the charge-up bar Band-Aid requires.
Okay, that's everything! Were there any name origins you didn't know about? (Let's face it, nobody knew Clay Pigeon's) Were there any origins that surprised you? (Guess what guys? Ba
... keep reading on reddit β‘Not sure exactly what happened, but apparently all of my shelly devices got new entity_ids in home assistant after the latest update. I first updated HA, then the shelly discovery script. Not even sure what went wrong and if it's something specific to my setup or not,, just wanted to let you guys know.
Now I'm off to renaming the devices again, but this time only the friendly name, not the entity id. Then updating the automation scripts.
EDIT: I just realized, all devices were added again under their original names, for example: Shelly Plug S ABC123. I also tried to change the custom mqtt prefix to the device name I want to use in HA, but they're not added although I can see the mqtt messages under the topic shellies/#. I'll investigate further this evening.
EDIT2: Disregard the claim about the 0.110. update. It was actually related to the shelly script 0.19 version, no idea why I didn't see it in the changelog. But it seems that I have to recreate all devices anyway. Hopefully this helps someone ;)
Sooo, it's been mostly quiet on the Shelly front, sure she's had visitations and has caused a bit of drama, but overall, things are pretty good. This is how just the other day she decided that she abandoned her lease and has decided couch surfing is the best way for herself forward.
So, a couple days ago, mom got a text from Shelly's new number, that said she was moving out of the room she is renting and going to stay with niece's aunt on her couch. She claimed that the landlord was going into her room, moving stuff around, and threw out a box of her tax documents. She then said, when she has to she has another friend that will let her stay on their couch. Mom replied and said that she should think of the future consequences of her doing this and how it might be hard to find a new place with an abandoned lease on her record. She also said that she doesn't want Shelly to wind up homeless over this and that it's a real possibility for what she is planning on doing.
Then, Shelly left, and the landlord called mom, told her off about Shelly abandoning the lease, and then went on to bitch out mom for letting her daughter smoke drugs and drink so much. Mom snapped back about how both alcohol and cannabis are legal in Canada, and there's nothing she can do to stop an adult from doing such things. So now, Shelly has left that place, and has moved her furniture into niece's aunt's house and she is living on their couch. Niece's aunt is about as unstable as Shelly is, and is engaged to a 30 year old and she is 19, and they like to party, get high and drunk together. Soooo, we'll see what happens with this whole thing in due time.
Now, on to the niece thing. On monday, niece was home from school sick, so I was watching her. She was feeling better with medicine, so I decided to take her to the playground, so she would take a nap for me and give me a break. While at the playground, niece said, "Hey, let's pretend you are my dad", and then she called me "dad" the whole time we were at the playground. This has continued when it's just me and her, and when she is outside with her neighborhood friends. She refers to me as "dad" in front of them. When it's me and mom, she calls me uncle. So I don't exactly know if this is a healthy thing or not, but I'm letting her lead the way with how she wants to call me, because I do know that I play more of a father role in her life than her actual dad does.
Also, every morning when I put her in the car to go to preschool, she tel
