A list of puns related to "Sheikh Mujibur Rahman"
In a meeting with two pioneers of the communist movement in Bangladesh, Rashed Khan Menon and Haider Akbar Khan Rano on 20 February 1975, Mujibur said,
>I have decided to go for socialism. Come with me. I am the one who had chased away those Punjabi capitalists, now I cannot allow those Marwari capitalists. I will not let the country go capitalist. I will make it a socialist one
What exactly do you think he meant by "Marwari capitalists"? Was Bangladesh in debt trap of India or what?
I read this "On 10 August 1971, Indian Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi sent messages to all heads of state of the world about the release of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In that message, she expressed fear that Sheikh Mujibur Rahman could be hanged in the wake of the secret trial. So she urged everyone to put pressure on President Yahya in taking practical steps for the peace and stability of the region" and was wondering if it exists on the internet in some form or another?
Thanks.
Mujib assumed Bangladesh premiership in Jan 1972, Mujib appointed the Awami Leaguers, their relatives and friends at important positions in the government. The hoarders and smugglers always escaped the government because high officials and Awami Leaguers themselves were involved in hoarding. Corruption had reached such an unprecedented height that PM Khaleda Zia's statement in the Parliament on 13th Aug 1992, quoted late President Mujib as "Where is my piece of Kambal (Blanket)?". Mujib right hand Ghazi Gholam Mustafa, Chairman of Red Cross, had been called Kambal Chor -- Blanket Thief.
In an informal discussion Dalim asked Mujib about the corrupt Awami Leaguers, he replied that: "Didnt my people suffer during Pak regime? Didnt they undergo losses?.
Didnt they lose their wealth and properties? If today they get some benefits, what is wrong with it? I cant remain indifferent towards them. If anyone is unhappy about this I cant help."
In Mujib's 3.5 year tenure, 60k million taka worth of goods -- jute, food grains, and other imported materials -- were smuggled out of the country. Mujib had predicted that after independence rice would sell at half the cost of Pakistan. It was selling at a price ten times higher in 1975, even higher than during Yahya tenure. The smuggling increased after Mujib opened borders with India. More thn 2bn $ had been pumped into the Bangladeshi economy but by early 1974, Bangladesh was bankrupt. Abu Musa, a journalist noted that "He (Mujib) promised everything and he had betrayed everyone (common man)". Mujib surrounded himself with sycophants, one of the conspirators in Mujib's assassination, Tahiruddin Thakur was the Minister of State for Information, sycophantically started the ritual to touch Mujib's feet. Afterward, Mujib "took severe note of those who dared not to touch his feet."
Mujib sent his son Jamal to the army to hold a high position in the coming years. He sent his son to the Yugoslav Military Academy, which was unable to complete and returned abashed. Jamal's incompetence did not deter Mujib from enrolling him in another military academy, this time Britain's Sandhurst Military Academy. The Academy admitted Jamal on the condition that he would pay the training fee, thus 180k taka were secretly channelled to it. Law and order situation deteriorated, even the capital city Dacca was not safe from gangs freely roaming around markets to loot jewelry shops, cash, and any precious item. And Sheikh Mujib played a crucial role for the freedom of his people. He was genuinely loved by the people. He is regarded as the Father of the Nation. Then why did they orchestrate a coup and brutally murdered him along with his family?
It doesn't make sense to murder the loved Father of the Nation who lead the country to independence within 4 years.
Bangabandhu' Sheikh Mujibur Rehman is the first president of Bangladesh.
He is the father of Sheikh Hasina, the Bangladesh Prime Minister. Hasina is the longest serving PM in Bangladesh and the most powerful political figure.
Rehman was shot dead in his home on August 15, 1975
Junior army officers invaded Rehman's home in tanks. He was asked to step out with his guards before they shot him. Sheikh Hasina and sister were saved because they were in Germany. The killers were granted immunity by Bangladesh. Five escaped and became international fugitives
Cut to present: Few weeks back, Abdul Majed was caught from Bengal after remaining a fugitive for 20 years. 73-year-old Majed was well settled in Kolkata, had a 42-year-old wife and had all "valid" Indian documents like Aadhar card, passport and Voter ID
Bangladesh executed Majed 10 days ago after intense interrogation. Majed revealed that Moslen also stays in Bengal and is a Unani physician. He has assumed a Hindu name to escape detention and even bought a home in North 24 Parganas. It is believed that Moslen shot 'Bangabandhu'.
It is interesting how this man quietly sneaked into India while an entire nation and many intelligence agencies were looking for him for decades. He forged documents and assumed a Hindu name called Dr. Dutta and became an Ayurvedic doctor. He had a pharmacy called Unani Pharmacy.
RAW & Bangladesh Intelligence planned this operation and made sure that Bengal or its police don't get to know. Even though he had spread a rumour that he has died, a team of RAW, NIA and NSI (Bangladesh) soon located him and arrested him. He was quietly handed over to Bangladesh
Rumours are abound that NSA Ajit Doval (He is the boss!) has actually clinched a prisoner swap and India has got the custody of a well-known Bangladeshi terrorist. The wanted man was handed over to Bangladesh at an unmanned checkpost at India-Bangla border
Flawless operation & execution by RAW and NIA. Bengal Police and state government are stumped that such a big operation was pulled off by Ajit Doval right under their noses without them getting a whiff. Great work! But the worry is: Terrorists from Bangladesh have swamped Bengal.
Bengal has become a safe haven for Islamic terrorists who freely operate between the two countries. In fact, the border districts of Bengal have become a safe refuge. I had written an article on how this is happening. Read it if you have the time.

My family are typical religious conservatives and used to say that he was a dictator, corrupt, etc. But when I became an adult, I studied history and I discovered a new-found respect for him. I think that his leadership of Bengali Muslims was legendary, something that is unthinkable for a normal human to do. When Bangladesh became independent, he enshrined the fundamental values of secularism, nationalism, socialism and democracy. I think that was a very far-sighted step and those values are just as relevant and important today as they were 50 years ago. Compared to some other countries like Pakistan/Sudan/Saudi Arabia which are changing their constitutions now to make it less overtly religious. I feel that secularism allowed us to keep extremist mullahs in check and allow female education and empowerment, which has contributed a lot to our nation.
Yes, Sheikh Mujib did some dictatorial things, but the nation was in a very tough position back then, and Sheikh Mujib was a human with human limitations after all. When I look at the typical leader in the Middle East/Pakistan, I feel so thankful that we got a heroic nationalist like Sheikh Mujib who never sold this country to the USA or Russia or India, who kept the nation united and enshrined progressive values which allowed us to avoid becoming a failed state like so many Middle Eastern and African countries. I think any Arab country would willingly give up all their oil just to get a leader like him.
What do you think?
