Three iconic grunge stars (Kurt Cobain, Layne Staley, Shannon Hoon) died before their time and were all born in 1967.

COINCIDENCE? Yeah probably lol, I just found it interesting. Also I know celebrities are often going to appeal to a younger audience, and they’ll seem younger anyway (for example MJ, Prince and Madonna appealed to Gen X but they themselves were obviously Boomers), but even without that, all three of these grunge stars seem quintessential early Xers.

And tbf, while Chris Cornell (rip) and Eddie Vedder would technically be the last boomers, culturally speaking, I don’t think anyone would call them as such.

I know I’m just rambling but I’d like to hear your thoughts.

I think shannon hoon was molested, which led to his eventual suicide, It's in almost every lyric he wrote, but I havent found anything written on this.

I'm not even projecting. I can only imagine this is like having a war buddy I imagine. The subtleties in the subtle songs. Most are blatant.

It's a, you had to be there experience. I dont have the time now to make a thesis on it, but if you want to ask specifics, I've listened to his albums for 20 years.

We are Danny Clinch, Taryn Gould, and Colleen Hennessy, the filmmakers behind ALL I CAN SAY, a new documentary about singer Shannon Hoon. Also with us are Christopher Thorn and Rogers Stevens, original members of Blind Melon. And a very special guest, musician Nico Hoon. Ask us anything!

The late lead singer of 90s alt-rock sensation Blind Melon carried a camcorder with him for the last five years of his life. He filmed everything around him, from his band's meteoric rise to fame, to cultural milestones of the day like the LA riots, the birth of his daughter, and his struggles with addiction. He only stopped filming a few hours before his untimely death at age 28. It's taken several years to create ALL I CAN SAY, and it's available now to rent via Virtual Cinemas at allicansay.oscilloscope.net. Also, Blind Melon is making new music! You can find that at the band's youtube page. Thanks for coming and we're excited to chat!
