A list of puns related to "Serious Eats"
:D
Trevor loved tractors. And I mean, really loved tractors. Forget any obsessions or high-level interests you may have, chances are they pale in the face of Trevorโs love for tractors.
Every day Trevor would get up, in his tractor-themed bedroom in his tractor-themed house, with its tractor-themed wallpaper and tractor-themed carpets, and he would make his bed with its tractor-themed duvet and tractor-themed sheets. He would go downstairs in his tractor-themed pajamas into his tractor-themed kitchen, with its tractor-themed tiles and cupboards, and he would eat his breakfast while perusing the latest tractor-themed magazine or annual.
Trevorsโs degree in Agricultural Engineering hung on his living room wall, along with a copy of his thesis, which centred around (you guessed it) tractors. The living room was decorated with all sorts of tractor-related trinkets, including die-cast models, paintings and drawings.
The hedges in Trevorโs front garden were trimmed in the shape of tractors. His lawn was vividly decorated with tractor-driving garden gnomes, and his garden furniture was constructed from various parts from vintage tractor designs.
Trevor just had one thing missing from his otherwise tractor-centric life; he had never actually owned, nor driven, a real tractor.
Not for his lack of trying, of course. Trevor had been to many tractor shows over the years, and visited many farms with friends of his, but none of the tractors he had seen had ever been quite right. Trevor was so knowledgeable about tractors that every single one he had come across had possessed some hidden trait that he wasnโt keen on. His first experience of driving a real tractor had to be perfect.
One day, Trevor was flicking through one of his favourite publications, Powertrain Quarterly, when there was a knock at the door. Trevor answered, and it was his friend and fellow tractor enthusiast, Jeff.
Trevor welcomed Jeff in, and over tea and crumpets served on tractor-themed crockery, they discussed the merits of aluminium drawbars and front-end loaders. Eventually Trevor pressed Jeff to explain the reason for his visit.
โWellโ said Jeff, โAs Iโm sure you know the convention comes to town laterโ.
The convention. Trevor had been thinking of little else the past three weeks. The neighbouring town annually threw a convention for farmers, particularly farmyard machinery. There would be combine harvesters, lawnmowers, and of course, tractors.
โYes of courseโ replied Trevor

Dad: "My chips!"
Kid: "OK. But, what flavor are those chips?"
Dad: "My chips!"
Kid: "Seriously dad, what flavor are those chips?"
Dad reaches down, grabs the bag of chips, holds them up, points at the label and says: "I said they were my chips. See it says clearly on the bag Nachos."
Once upon a time there were three little pigs, Pork Chop, Hambone, and Bacon.
The boys lived at home with their mother. One day their mother said, โI no longer have enough food to feed you boys, you need to go out on your own and find your fortunes.โ
Not wanting to upset their mother they left the house together to seek their fortunes.
Several miles into their journey Bacon, the little pig everyone liked best, said, โLetโs build our houses here! This seems like a great place to start making our fortunes.โ
Pork Chop and Hambone agreed. So they all began building their houses.
Pork Chop, the laziest of the bunch, decided to build his house out of straw, which he apparently stole from a nearby field. It was not a very sturdy building material, but Pork Chop didnโt care. All he wanted to do was play all day, and he didnโt want to spend too much time building.
Hambone was willing to work a bit harder and he decided to build his house out of sticks which he procured by de-limbing every tree within a 300 meter radius of their homestead.
Hambone and Pork Chop were happy. Now all they had to do was to play and sleep the rest of the day.
Now Bacon was a hard worker. He knew that his brothers had used bad materials and shoddy construction methods and he wanted to build the best house he could. He found several tons of bricks stacked in neatly ordered pallets in the forest which he decided to use for his building material. It took him several days, but when he was done Bacon had the best house on the homestead.
The next day a wolf, Scott Howard, happened upon the pig brothers and their new homestead. He spied the straw house and smelled Pork Chop inside and began to think to himself that Pork Chop would make a mighty fine meal, so Scott went and knocked on the door.
Scott said, โLittle Pig! Little Pig! Let me in!โ
Pork Chop replied, โNo way Josรฉ! Not by the hairs on my chinny chin chin!โ
Scott, undeterred by the reply says, โThen Iโll huff, and Iโll puff, and Iโll blow your crappy straw house to the ground!โ
Scott began to huff and puff. He was evidently having some sort of asthma attack, but after a few tugs from his handy dandy rescue inhaler, he was able to muster enough wind to blow Pork Chops straw house to the ground.
Pork Chop narrowly escaped Scottโs massive jaws. Scared, and now homeless, Pork Chop ran for the nearest shelter he could see. Hamboneโs house.
Scott, undeterred, chased Pork Chop to his new hiding place. Scott was very pleas

She enters a ward full of patients, and notices that theyโre all dressed in street clothes and have no obvious sign of injury or illness. The Queen approaches a patient and greets him. The patient replies:
โMy heartโs in the Highlands, my heart is not here, My heartโs in the Highlands, a-chasing the deer.โ
The Queen is confused, but smiles and moves on to greet the next patient. The patient responds:
โSome hae meat anโ canna eat, And some wad eat thaโ want it, But we hae meat anโ we can eat, so let the Lord be thankit.โ
Even more confused, and smiling even more broadly, the Queen moves on to the next patient who immediately begins to chant:
โMy love is like a red, red rose thatโs newly sprung in June; My love is like the melody thatโs sweetly played in tune.โ
Now very confused, the Queen turns to the accompanying doctor and asks, โIs this a psychiatric ward?โ
โNo, Your Majesty,โ replies the doctor. โThis is the serious Burns unit.โ
I have a scrawny, little, younger sister and we always have a seafood buffet for Christmas dinner.
Sister: "Hey, dad can you pass me the shrimp and I want some mussels too please?"
Dad: "Here's the shrimp, for mussels you're gonna have to go to a gym and do some exercising" [continues eating his food without ever passing the mussels]
Sister: "Hey, dad....."
Pops: "Hay is for horses, this is seafood."
This was especially funny due to the fact that he kept a poker face the entire time and never made eye contact with my sister, being completely serious and never cracking a smile. These exchanges happen at least 7X a day.
This has been eating away at me, and all I've reached are dead ends.
Seriously though. Any suggestions?
So we were at a certain popular buffet chain, and when my dad 54-year-old with a long white beard went up to pay, the Spanish cashier asked if he was eligible for the senior discount, for ages 65+.
He strokes his beard and says "Nope, I'm not quite there yet.
I was standing behind him waiting to go eat, and I said "Well maybe you should try talking Spanish? Then you will be a seรฑor!"
She gave us the discount, everybody around us cracked up laughing, applause was had, and the Albert Einstein behind us gave me $100. (Seriously though, they both laughed, she gave us the $0.59 discount, and Dad tells this story every chance he gets.)
Towards the end of the year we were listing certain errors we learned to correct throughout the course. Someone raised their hand and said "fixing repetition". So later I raised my hand and said "fixing repetition". The teacher at first was serious and said "we already have that on-...." And then she saw me crack the biggest shit eating grin and the whole class groaned as I started laughing uncontrollably.
Before dinner last night, I was teasing the kids about how we were going to have them for dinner. My daughter (4yo) had a moment where she was afraid I was serious and might actually cook her in her sleep, so I took a moment to assure her that we would never, ever eat her, and it was always just a joke.
Relaying this to my wife during dinner (partly so she'd know to be a little extra careful when making that kind of jokes for a bit), she told me "Making jokes about eating the children is in... wait for it... poor taste."
We are at the dinner table, eating dinner. My six year old daughter asks if she can be excused from the table.
I told her no, and she says "But..." and I cut her off saying we do not say potty words at the table, and that she needs to use the word Bottom instead.
Cue serious six year old confusion as she assesses the situation, mom rolls eyes.

My status: Any tips on how to keep raccoons from eating my corn crop? I'm all ears. But seriously raccoons are assholes.
Dad friend responds back to back.
"There's a kernel of truth to that statement!"
"But shucks, poor guys can't help it."
"Maybe get your dog to start stalking them."
(we are about to each lunch)
Mum: Should we eat on the table outside?
Dad: No (in a very serious voice)
Mum: Why not?
Dad: We can't eat lunch sitting on a table, we need to sit on chairs
I work at Panera and my manager was in the back eating a slice of Gouda cheese. He says, "man, I love Gouda cheese, it's seriously the best kind of cheese there is." I proceed to turn around and hit him with "one might say it's the GOUDest cheese."
I was holding my month-old son after dinner and he kept ripping ass (seriously, this kid farts so loudly I get blamed for it). My wife comes up behind me and asks, "so, are you surviving his... ass-ault?" and gives me this shit-eating grin. I groaned, the baby farted, I changed his diaper (as is my duty.. heh heh... duty).
I left my phone in the bathroom at my work(which is a thing I tend to do). My events coordinator came into the back with tears down her eyes, laughing hysterically, with it in hand.
"What happened?"
"You left your phone in the bathroom and I texted your dad saying this phone was left in the bathroom and to please call the restaurant."
"You shouldn't have texted my dad."
"I know! He called the restaurant and said that this was they phone number of his daughter that died three years ago by choking to death while eating here!"
"Oh my God..."
"I know! When I asked if he was serious he said "nah, she's just the ditzy Asian girl that leaves her phone everywhere.""
Man: I would like a 10 lb ham and a whole smoked turkey breast please.
Me: Will this be all for you today, sir?
Man: dead serious tone Oh no! This isn't all for me. My family will be eating it too.
Took me a second to realize that I had been slapped with a dad joke.
I had to run a couple of errands between then and now, so my memory might be a bit fuzzy, but I'll do best.
Friend 1: "Sarah"
Friend 2: "Shawn"
Future dad: "Sam"
Sarah: There is no good way to eat a taco. (There is a dismembered taco sitting on her plate.)
Shawn: I know, right? It's seriously the worst-designed food, like, ever.
Sarah: Back in [hometown], there's this restaurant that sells authentic Mexican tacos. There's no grease or anything, just chunks of chicken with guacamole and salsa and a bit of cheese on top, and it's SO GOOD. I really shouldn't even talk about them, it's just making me homesick.
Sam: You mean you shouldn't taco 'bout them?
While my wife was in the kitchen fixing a snack, (after putting our little boy down for a nap) she says:
"Did you seriously eat all the peanut butter and then put the jar back in the pantry?"
Me: Damn Skippy
As her groans became stronger, I exited stage left
Dad spends 35 dollars on tickets for him and his family to see Divergent.
As the group approaches the ticket drop, I hear the dad ask the mom what half of 35 is. She says "17 and half" and the dad gets this big shit eating grin. I rip their ticket stubs and the dad puts on a serious face and says "All right, I'd like $17.50 back please."
The whole family proceeds to groan and tell him to stop as I reluctantly play along and pretend to find some cash.
