Before the advice of French Films here's my Top Ten French favorite Films of all time !
- "Cyrano de Bergerac" by Jean-Paul Rappeneau with Gérard Depardieu, Vincent Pérez, Anne Brochet and Jacques Weber.
The greatest French Film ever made in my opinion. The fluid adaptation, without any downtime of the legendary piece by Edmond Rostand. Depardieu is at the top, and will forever change the way Cyrano is played. Jacques Weber, the actor playing the Comte de Guiche, had also played Cyrano at the theater a few days ago. Scenes with many extras extremely well managed, a work of goldsmith by the director of photography Pierre Lhomme.
- "The Red Circle" ("Le Cercle Rouge") by Jean-Pierre Melville with Alain Delon, Bourvil, Yves Montand and Gian-Maria Volonté
A Great Film of rare coldness, this coldness being seen in the games of the actors (the silent Alain Delon and Bourvil, the latter playing totally the opposite of the comic roles they used to play at the time, he will die before the Film is released, Yves Montand playing a former alcoholic policeman and Gian-Maria Volonté playing a runaway criminal meeting the character of Alain Delon). An exemplary robbery scene in terms of staging, Melville's masterpiece.
- "The Last Metro" ("Le Dernier Métro") by (and with his voice) François Truffaut with Gérard Depardieu, Catherine Deneuve, Jean Poiret, Andréa Ferréol and Heinz Bennent
Paris, during the German occupation. Lucas Steiner, a German Jew who took refuge in Paris, hangs out at the theater with his tough wife, Marion Steiner (Catherine Deneuve). He hides to avoid the Gestapo. Then comes a young actor, Bernard (Gérard Depardieu). His links with the French Resistance will put the chip in the ear of the Pétainist authorities. Little by little, Bernard and Marion will develop a romantic relationship. Everything is there in this classic of Truffaut, great popular success (more than 3 million tickets sold in cinemas in France): the voice over at the beginning and end of the Film, the "bubbles" (like comic strips) in the Film , the staging, the careful photography of Nestor Almendros (the DP of "Days Of Heaven"), the relationships between women and men, childhood (Truffaut discovered cinema during the German occupation), love , the great performances of Deneuve and Depardieu at the peak of their art.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
