What does "Partially Self-Fertile" mean?

What does it mean when a fruit tree is "partially self fertile" - does that mean that alone it will product a small amount of fruit, or that only some years it produces fruit, or something else?

Context:

I would like to plant a European pear in zone 4 and with my limited space was hoping for a self-polllinating variety. It looks like they pretty much all need a second tree, but found one called "Colette Everbearing" that is "partially self fertile." I don't need an insane number of fruit, but I do want it to be able to produce fruit. Would this be alright to plant by itself?

Does anyone know is Stark's Hardy Giant Pecan is actually self fertile?

Stark Bros lists it as self fertile. I have found posts online saying it overlaps itself nearly 100% as well as found pollination charts stating it overlaps itself nearly 100%. I have found many articles stating pecan trees need a type 1 and type 2 tree though. My question goes will it actually pollinate itself?

Fouquieria columnaris (Boojum Tree) self-fertile/self-compatible?

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know if Boojum trees are self fertile/self-compatible? I have a Boojum that produced a bunch of viable seeds this year, even though it was the only Boojum flowering (I have another one that didn't flower). The only other Fouquieria was a flowering Fouquieria fasciculata. Now I am wondering if I have hybrid seeds or still pure Boojum seeds. I searched all over but could not find any info...which is strange.

How to tell if Muscadine is self fertile?

Northern VA, I bought a muscadine vine and planted it last year (probably from Lowes). Didn't grow much last year but this year it had a lot of growth and a half dozen small sprigs that looked like wee grape clusters maybe but they never did anything. Looking into them seems some muscadine's may need a partner to make grapes, and I'm wondering if this is the behavior of a partnerless female muscadine or if it's just a young vine that needs another year or two to produce.
