A list of puns related to "Second Messenian War"
Eochu Uairches 633-621 BC:
Eochu Uairches was an Irish high king, that is reported to have left Ireland for 12 years, during the second halve of the 600's BC.
Apparently he left Ireland in a fleet, to wage war and plunder neighbouring countries.
Now this might appear to just be trivial and unimportant legend, but, in actual fact, just this little snippet of information may be more indicative and consistan with the happenings going on in the world around this time.
And this is what i hope to highlight in this article.
> Eochu (or Eochaid) Uairches, son of Lugaid Γardonn, was, according to medieval Irish legend and historical tradition, a High King of Ireland. After Lugaid was overthrown and killed by SΓrlΓ‘m, Eochu was driven into exile overseas, but he returned after twelve years, killed SΓrlΓ‘m with an arrow, and took the throne. His epithet is obscure: the Lebor GabΓ‘la Γrenn says he gained it because of his exile,[1] while Geoffrey Keating explains it as meaning "bare canoes", because he had canoes for a fleet, in which he and his followers used to plunder neighbouring countries.[2]
Kaska invasion:
Now, it is likely that were Eochu Uairches went, is connected to a war which began in around 1450 BC with the kaska invasion.
As has already been established on other threads, the Egyptian pharoah Ahmose I, in 1549 BC, led a native Egyptian uprising against foreign rulers in Egypt, and expelled them from Egypt, and continued chasing them northwards, under Thutmose III.
In response to this, the Indo-Aryan Hittite empire came up from South Asia, and down from Northern parts of europe, and made Anatolia the base for their war on Egypt, when, for whatever reason, the Greeks seemingly allied themselves with Egypt, and began attacking the Hittit
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hello all. I'm trying to learn about the First Messenian War, I'm aware that the war was so far back that sources may be thin on the ground. From what I've Googled, Tyrtaeus and Pausanias both reference the war, is there anyone else I should know about? Also, I don't know anything about it outside of what I might find in these sources. I'm sure that I'll be missing a ton of archaeological evidence or wider context that would give me a more complete understanding. Is there any good writing from modern historians on it that you would recommend to a newbie like myself on the topic?
Heβs only got 40 more war until he catches manny Ramirez. Btw Just this year he passed Aramis Ramirez to become the greatest 3b named Ramirez as well
Everyone knows well at this point that the Devs want to make war costly in both lives and money, and that they also wish to better represent decentralized native nations with their own states, as is already visible on the map.
To my concern, it would appear that there is no visible Seminole nation in Florida, despite the fact that just days before the start date in January 1836, the United States and the Seminoles started a war with each other.
And this is not just some frilly, forgettable native war. The Second Seminole War was and is undoubtedly the most long and costly of any native war the US had ever fought. It lasted nearly 6 years, saw the deaths of over a thousand Americans and unknown thousands of Seminoles, and drained the US government of upwards of tens of millions of dollars.
Large numbers (~40k soldiers at maximum) of US troops were present, including the bulk of the regular army, thousands of irregular conscripts, the marine corps, and even the navy (which alone spent over half a million dollars on the conflict, somehow). Among the best of the army's commanders were sent to Florida, as well.
Despite all this, the Seminoles appear to not exist whatsoever despite others in the West being represented, and if that is the case the game appears not to represent the war either.
The war was also completely ignored in Vic2 (despite the fact that large portions of the army are correctly stationed in Florida at game start..?) with not even as much as a state modifier or flavor event.
What with the design pillars of the game Victoria 3 would be a golden opportunity to rectify this mistake and finally bring some attention to the US' most painful native war.
And before anyone dares suggest that it be made DLC content, absolutely not. You might as well be suggesting the Second Italian-Ethiopian War be completely absent from HOI4 and not to appear until Italy gets its DLC. It was a war. People died. Money was wasted. It is a conflict practically begging to be in the game.
The Second Seminole War cannot be ignored again.
I drove from Florida to Ohio, the distance being 996 miles, or 1602.91 kilometers. For reference, thatβs roughly the same distance from Paris to Warsaw. And goodness did I see some horrid terrain on this trip.
Imagine youβre an AUS conscript from Orlando, and youβve been sent up to fight in West Virginia. The sheer distance youβd have to travel in a time where the Interstate Highway System doesnβt exist is just mind-boggling. Once you reach the Appalachias, then oh boy are you in for a bad time. Just one artillery piece in those mountains would cause one hell of a headache. Gaining ground in any direction would be painfully slow, and any guerrilla warfare in the area would just be hellish. If you survive any of that, then have fun crossing the Ohio River into the urban centers of the rust belt.
All of this only takes into account what Iβve seen. The Mississippi & the Rockies are undoubtedly even more daunting. Man living in the US in any KR timeline would be beyond tumultuous.
