I've been listening to a whole lot of rugby podcasts and YouTube content throughout the 6 nations. Stuff made by English people, Irish, Welsh, South African, New Zealanders. Even French perspective stuff. But there is very little Scottish representation. Maybe one guest one week if you're lucky, and I didn't find anything where the main host was Scottish. Hamilton on the Rugby Pod was the best I could get, and honestly, I don't really like his style (he talks about himself rather than the rugby).
No offense to the people that make them, but the level of not-careing that many of them had towards Scotland was down right disrespectful. There is one imparticular where they couldn't even be arsed learning the names of the players who played outside the English league. They went on a rant about how Redpath only chose Scotland because he thought he wouldn't be good enough for England, and they were shocked, shocked, that Hamish Watson had a good game against England, giving him a number of back-handed complements as they talked about that match. How ignorant of rugby do you have to be to not know about Watson, and the the arrogance of saying patronising stuff like he's really good, for a Scot or for his size he is pretty decent right after he (and the rest of the Scottish team) has demolished your team.
But for the most part they barely mention Scotland. It's all England are shit becoz they lost to Scotland or Scotland put 50 points on Italy, let's talk about why Italy should be kicked from the 6 nations or France did a France on Friday, now let's talk about why Eddie Jones should not be sacked.
And the number of times I've heard people say that Finn Russell has had a shit tournament simply because he was used in a different way to prior years is just depressing.
Here's a challenge for you: find 5 rugby podcasts that talk in depth about the Scotland-France match. It's harder than you'd think.
Anyway, rant over. Do you know of any good Scottish rugby content? Other than GLove, obviously.
