A list of puns related to "Satish Shah"
Does Satish Shah have kids? Just finished SvS take 2, and heβs so great at portraying a fun grandfather. Can only imagine him being the same in real life, since he said Indravadhan is him in real life!
Satish Shah is celebrating his birthday today. He was born on June 25, 1951, in Mandvi Kutch, Gujarat. He started his career in 1970. The actor has acted in several Marathi films and television serials besides Hindi.
I just came across his old interview (published in 2016). Excerpt from the interview -
Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai was so popular, but still there hasnβt been any talk about a sequel or season 2. Why is that?
Let me tell you something, we did the serial as a weekly. However, at that time it was not publicised much. By the time people got to know that itβs a good serial and started watching it, it was taken off air due to lack of TRPs! It was the first failure of my career on TV. I felt bad. Later, the show was re-run as a daily. Thatβs when people got hooked on it.
The irony is Sarabhai was a big flop when it was released the first time, otherwise it would have been still running. And that was one show for which I had compromised on my remuneration, too.
Was the character of Indravadhan Sarabhai close to you?
Producer JD Majethia and writer Aatish Kapadia had come to my house to narrate the script. When they left I told my wife (Madhu), they have just described to me what I am in real life! Thatβs how similar Indravadhan was to me. Whether it is the humour, wit or one-liners, he says exactly what I would in a situation. I am also at heart a South Bombay guy (Kemps Corner) because I was born and brought up there.
Tell us about your cool chemistry with Ratna Pathak Shah who played your wife in Filmi Chakkar and Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai?
Ratnajiβs mother and my fatherβs younger sister were best friends. Her mother got married in my auntβs house. At that time we were not into acting, but we knew each other. When we met professionally, we just hit it off and have a great comfort level. Her husband (Naseeruddin Shah) is my best friend and my wife is her best friend. Hum dono screen par aate the toh really husband-wife ki tarah the. That is chemistry.
What was the best thing about doing this show?
The best thing about Sarabhai was all the characters were important β adrak, mirchi, nimbu milake ganne ka juice gahazab ka hota hai β and all of us gelled well together. We used to eagerly wait to go on the sets. Thatβs why even after a decade, we all meet once in two-three months at somebodyβs place.
I am an easy going person. I donβt have airs about me being a senior artiste. I make the other person comfortable, so that he can

We can start by placing things into context.
To do so, we need to understand the political situations in the Mongolian Empire and the Delhi Sultanate during the period between the death of Chinggis Khan and the last major Mongolian invasions into India. This period spans the tenure of two dynasties at Delhi, the Mamlukes and the Khaljis. But let's start with the Mongols first.
BACKGROUND
MONGOL EMPIRE :
When the Great Khan Chinggis or Genghis, died in 1227 CE, he left behind an Empire that spanned the modern day regions of Mongolia, to the Hindu Kush and North eastern Persia. He was succeeded by his son Ogodei in 1229, after an assembly (quraltai) of the tribes. And it wouldn't be until 1241, that they first attempted an incursion into the territory of the Delhi Sultanate. During the reign of Ogodei we see 3 major events that not only built up pressure on the border between the Sultanate and the Mongol Empire but also resulted in the first confrontation between a Sultanate force and the Mongols:
In 1235, after the first quraltai roughly 20,000 Mongol troops advanced on the Qarlughids, a small Turkic tribe which controlled Ghazni at the time. The Mongols advanced into Kabul, Ghazna and Zabulistan and the ruling Qarlughid, Hasan Qarlugh was forced to accept a Mongol resident at his court.
In 1235, after the second quraltai in the same year, Mongols moved further troops into the region. They sacked Kashmir and attacked the Qarlughids a second time although they were their tributaries now. Further, they invested Uchch and conquered territory on the very fringes of the Sultanate. In 1241, attacked Lahore and took the city while Bahram Shah was the Sultan of Delhi, whose response was very disappointing for the army and the nobles.
In 1245-6, the Mongols attacked a third time, taking Multan from Hassan Qarlugh who had taken the province during the lull in hostilities. The Mongols once again invested Uchch but this time a force of the Sultanate. This force was commanded in part by Ghiyasuddin Balban (more on him later)
What followed after the death of Ogodei in 1241, however was a period of turbulence, intrigue, uncertainty and fratricidal conflict within the Empire until finally in 1260, the Empire broke into civil war. The fragmentation of the Empire was only resolved in 1304, when the Western Khanates namely the Ilkhanate, the Golden Horde and the Chagatai Khanate, accepted the nominal supremacy of the Yuan dynasty

Recently, I strolled down the avenues of this niche little sub called r/ Chodi, and well, I came accross a post which claimed that it succeeded in exposing the "Greatest Heist in History". Now, this is apparently a multi-parter and covers the period from ancient to early modern history, but I came accross this part of the series (I'm aware of the rules of the sub hence I've provided a non-participation link here to the post)
Now there are obvious inaccuracies with the post and I think I've tried and cover all of them, while avoiding getting into correction of narrative since that would require me to address the underlying ideology behind said narrative which is rather a current political argument.
>Indiaβs first encounter with an Islamic ruler started when a douchebag named Mahmud Of Ghazni landed here in 1004 AD.
No, it was in 711 CE, under the command of Muhammad bin Qasim who conquered Sindh. And while this could be seen as the first successful conquest of an Indian kingdom, the first clash between a ruler of an "Indian" kingdom and the Arabs or as OP refers to them, "Islamic rulers" took place in 643 AD, when Arab forces defeated Rutbil, King of Zabulistan in Sistan.
>You might have come across this guy in your textbook as the dude who raided the Somnath Temple, a little over 17 times.
No, he actually led raids into various "Indian" kingdoms 17 times and expanded into modern day Punjab and Haryana. He looted and sacked Somnath only once in 1025 CE.
>Had there been a thesaurus.com in the 1st century AD, the first entry for the words evil, horror, despicable and other similar words, would have been Mahmud Of Ghazni.
The "1st century AD" would be the years 1 CE - 100 CE. OP here seems to be suggesting that this imaginary thesaurus would record events a thousand years into future and would record the names of people who would be born a thousand years later.
>And that he was evil is not something that is being made up. This was what his own biographer had to say
Interestingly, OP does not mention the biographer, therefore it's hard to ascertain whether he's talking about a contemporary source in Ghazni, or whether he's talking about Firishta's Tarikh-i-Sultan Mahmud-i-Ghaznavi, here Firishta btw was a man born in late 16th century. Ghazni died in the 11th century.
... keep reading on reddit β‘The exodus of Kashmiri Pandits of the Kashmir Valley is a result of being targeted by JKLF (Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front) and Islamist insurgents during late 1989 and early 1990. This post is a compilation of various articles, blogs, and other resources available online which chronicles the major events that led to the genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Hindus living in Kashmir. This is an important chapter in our history which is often overlooked to avoid fuelling communal tensions and continue the false pretense of 'secularism' and 'Hindu-Muslim unity'. I hope this post sheds some light on the story of the Kashmiri Hindus which has gone unnoticed for so long and their unheard cries get the justice which they rightfully deserve.
The cold, dark night of January 19, 1990, had stirred into life the worst nightmares of Kashmiri Pandits living in the valley. Screaming from loudspeakers and crowded streets was a message for the Sikhs and Hindus living in Kashmir -
Ralive, Tsaliv ya Galive (either convert to Islam, leave the land, or die).
The threats had been coming in for a long time, but the night of January 19 is said to have seen a demented assault of a different level. Even today, Kashmiri Pandits shiver remembering the night that forced them into exodus.
Several authors have penned down accounts and personal experiences of the exodus over the years. What remains common in these descriptions is the fright that gripped this particular night.
Here's an excerpt of Col. (Dr.) Tej Kumar Tikoo's (Retd.) book, Kashmir: Its Aborigines and Their Exodus, describing the fateful night:
>On Jan, 04, 1990, a local Urdu newspaper, Aftab, published a press release issued by Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, asking all Pandits to leave the Valley immediately. Al Safa, another local daily repeated the warning. These warnings were followed by Kalashnikov-wielding masked Jihadis carrying out military-type marches openly. Reports of killing of Kashmiri Pandits continued to pour in. Bomb explosions and sporadic firing by militants became a daily occurrence.
>
>Explosive and inflammatory speeches being broadcast from the public address systems of the mosques became frequent. Thousands of audio cassettes, carrying similar propaganda, were played at numerous places in the Valley, in order to instill fear into the already terrified Kashmiri Pandit community. Recalling these events, the former Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Shr
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Shah Rukh Khan and director Kundan Shah made one of the most beautiful films of their career, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, in 1994.
Kundan Shah goes back in time and reminisces about the actor who became Bollywood's biggest superstar.*
I am not in touch with Shah Rukh Khan any more but our friendship, or rather professional relationship, started when he was working in the serial Umeed. He did two episodes of the comedy show that was directed by Vikas Desai; I produced it.
Then, he did an episode in Wagle Ki Duniya. After that, he worked in Circus, directed by Aziz Mirza and me.
I was impressed with his work in Fauji but after I saw him in Lekh Tandon's *Doosra Kewal', I realised he can emote very well too. Doosra Kewal was based on the 1984 Sikh riots.
I called him, as I thought he had an acting range - he was full of exuberance and masti in Fauji and emotional in Doosra Kewal. When I told him I wanted to meet him, he was thrilled. He and his friends were huge fans of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.
By then, Circus was almost over and he was getting film offers. The first film he signed was Aziz Mirza's Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman.
There was no formality between Shah Rukh and me. I had finished writing script of Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and he wanted to read it. I told him I had to make some changes but he would not listen.
I needed the script the next morning so Shah Rukh read the script in one night and returned it to me the next morning.
But by the time we started shooting the film, he had signed five-six movies, including Hema Malini's Dil Aashna Hai and Rakesh Roshan's Karan Arjun. My producer got worried because Shah Rukh had only committed verbally to me; there was nothing in writing.
So we met him at the muharat of his film Deewana at Juhu Centaur (which has now become Tulip Star) with the consent letter. The room in which he was sitting was very crowded, so we couldn't talk. I spoke to him in the corridor when he left his room to give the muharat shot. I told him my producer was worried and if he could sign the consent letter.
There was no table around so Shah Rukh sat down on the floor, kept the letter on his lap and signed. We gave him Rs 5,000 as the signing amount. His entire fees for the film was Rs 25,000.
Shah Rukh later told me that he wanted to buy the rights of the film, as it was a very sweet movie, and he did.
**My film was ready even before 'Baazigar' and 'Darr' released but no distributor was buying it. In fact

The fragmentation of the Empire was only resolved in 1304, when the Western Khanates namely the Ilkhanate, the Golden Horde and the Chagatai Khanate, accepted the nominal supremacy of the Yuan dynasty
... keep reading on reddit β‘Recently, I strolled down the avenues of this niche little sub called r/ Chodi, and well, I came accross a post which claimed that it succeeded in exposing the "Greatest Heist in History".
