I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
In Destiny's 2nd debate with Larry Sharpe, he listed 4 examples of good US interventions:
These are almost always the go-to examples to justify how US intervention can be a force for good in the world. In this post, I'll argue that the 3rd example - the Bosnian War - should not be considered a good US intervention.
tl;dr The conventional narrative is that the US intervened too late in Bosnia and that lives could have been saved if the US had entered earlier. However, the US actually did intervene from the beginning: it scuttled two proposed peace plans for Bosnia, the first of which was before the war started; and both of which were before the Srebrenica Massacre. A diplomatic intervention is still an intervention; and while counterfactuals are always debatable, it's entirely possible that the Bosnian War would never have happened but for the US's early intervention.
First, I'll state what I believe to be the widely held argument for Bosnia being a good US intervention.
The US stood on the sidelines for too long, while the Europeans were either unable or unwilling to end the war.
Then after a horrific number of people had been killed, the US finally stepped up and led the NATO bombings, which ended the war.
Punchline: If the US had stepped up earlier, countless lives could have been saved.
In reality, the US did not stay on the sidelines until the NATO bombings; and the Europeans were not feckless bystanders.
Before the Bosnian War began, the predecessor of the EU - the European Community (EC) - dispatched two diplomats (Lord Carrington from the UK and Jose Cutileiro from Portugal) to come up with a peace plan that was amenable to all sides. There is no question that this was an incredibly difficult endeavor, as Bosnia has three major ethnic groups:
all of whom have long-held historical grudges and grievances (to put it very mildly) against the others. Amazingly enough, Carrington and Cutileiro managed to get all three leaders to sign a preliminary version of their plan at Lisbon. The preliminary proposal was that Bosnia be split into 3 sets of cantons by ethnicity:

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Hello everyone Iβm new to this community and Iβve been working on an alternate history of the world for a while now. Please leave feedback in the comments
Ireland- after the Easter uprising Eamon De Valera takes power in Ireland and gets his wish of a United Ireland with its capital at Dublin. He disassociates himself from the IRA and seeks closer ties to America. There would likely be massacres up north commited by the IRA and while de Valera wouldnβt publicly condemn them, he would disassociate himself from the group and Britain, still recovering from World War One, would be too weak to respond. Despite fervent anti-British sentiment in the country, they would not join the axis at the start of World War Two and de Valera likely still promise Britain that Ireland would not be used as a base for any potential German invasion. They would remain neutral despite a lot of support for the axis within the country. This would be owing to their ties with America (de Valera himself was an American citizen) who would be vital allies for them. Valera still dominates Irish politics until his death and Ireland blossoms into the same liberal, diverse country it is today. Really the only changes are that de Valera would be remembered as the countryβs founding father and there still would be existing tensions in the north but it wouldnβt become the troubles.
France- during the Napoleonic wars, Napoleon annexes Andorra and after the war the allies deem it to small and insignificant to pay attention to. Itβs eventually becomes a department of France under the Frankicised name Andorre and the annexation would remain a point of contention within the department today. After the wars France also gain the southern half of Belgium, giving it a coast on the North Sea and the potential to grow even more powerful than in our timeline, though this would be hampered by the constant revolutions up to the Franco-Prussian wars. The capital of course remains at Paris.
Iberia- after the collapse of their respective empires, the crowns of Spain & Portugal decide to unite in an attempt to regain so lost prestige. This doesnβt work, although the long coast makes it an important trading hub between Europe, Africa and the Americas. Despite being ethnically similar peoples, ethnic tensions still flare up most notably in the revolutions of 1848 when the Portuguese push for independence but donβt get it. They again flair up when the concept of the nation state becomes popular in Europe i
