In one of the most unfortunate places where people were killed in an vigilante killing event, the Anus murders happened in November 23, 2008 in the Barangay Anus, simply known as Anus, which is located in the San Jose Batangas municipality. This case is just so unusual because it was forgotten even though police "started an investigation", but, you know, this was an vigilante killing where thieves were murdered, so I think it never made any progress.
The story of the Anus murders is as follow:
The victims, identified Alejandro Silvano, 38, and Junry Go Bursano, 32, both were residents of Barangay Pag-Asa of the Quezon City, and also another killed is Dominador Mendez, 31, of the Barangay Holy Spirit. With the third from Quezon City, other sources that the fourth may have lived in the Quezon City, meaning that all the victims lived in Quezon City. The first three were identified by identifications cards that were recovered from them.
The immediate report to the massacre came from a phone call to the police station from "an concerned citizen" regarding the discovery of the four bodies in the Barangay Anus neighborhood (one source mentions that the three were found under an Mango tree) around 7 a.m. of November 23, 2008.
The men were killed by a "group of vigilantes."
They discovered during the initial investigation that the unidentified victim was found lying inside a black Nissan Sentra (plate number ZEP-922) covered with three boxes for fighting cocks while the other three were just a few meters away from the car.
The victims were all tied up and had gunshot wounds to their heads, probably execution style method of killing, the officials of the Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) said. Also, only one empty shell of a .45-caliber pistol was recovered along with three boxes for fighting cocks, black clothes, one travel bag and 24 improvised fighting cock pouches.
"We have confirmed that they are the thieves of the seasoning chickens because of the ones recovered from the chicken box and cock pouch used in the theft so that the chickens will not be crooked," Police Chief Inspector Manuel Castillo of the San Jose municipality said. With the evidence that the victims had shown it was probable that they were involved in the robbery of fighting cocks, which was a fuse to the suspects to kill them.
