A list of puns related to "S&p Cnx Nifty"
I started this study to find out which one is better between Nifty 50 or S&P 500 (in INR) for LONG term (10yrs). Basically better returns with less risk.
I got 17 yrs past data and took 10 yr rolling returns. I found out that the average returns comes out to be same and the risk (volatility or standard deviation) is also very similar π
So now I wanted to know if they go up and down at the same time.. if they don't (if they are not 'correlated'), I can safely put half money in Nifty 50 and half in S&P 500 to make sure that the journey is less bumpy. I did that and I can see negative correlation (-0.35) I was surprised to see this. Am I doing anything wrong? The study is below
Nifty P/E ratio was 40.43 on 30 March 2021 and fell to 33.2 on 31 March 2021. Why did this happen? and what does it imply?

Index fund is recommended as a safe and passive style of investing, and we know from a bet made by Warren Buffett, that the S&P 500 was able to beat the returns offered by Hedge Funds.
In India, can we say the same for Nifty? Because the S&P 500 covers 500 companies, and can be said to be an indicator of US Economy. However, the Nifty 50 is only an index of 50 large-cap companies.
In this way, does it make sense to index in Nifty 50? Or do I add Nifty Junior to the list and make peace with the top 100 companies?
Recently made some significant upgrades to my lenses and need to clear out some space.
