[TOMT] [Music] Russian / Jewish Acoustic guitar song
Hi Reddit, this is a challenging one - two weeks ago during a taxi ride in Russia I was listening to a song thatβs been stuck in my head ever since. It was on video, so I could see it was performed by two acoustic guitarists. The lead guitarist was an older man. The song seemed to be performed on a Russian tv show, but it was definitely not sang in Russian - I think it was in Hebrew. The chorus was the older man singing βAaaaah-aah-ah-ah ah ahβ several times. Anyone have any idea?

Members of "HaShomer" ("The Watchman"), a controversial group of young Jewish immigrants from the Russian Empire that was active in Ottoman Palestine in 1909-1920. Their stated goal was to protect Jewish colonies and farms that, at the time, used to hire Arab and Circassian guards.

Middle Grade - young Russian Jewish immigrant girl detained, loses her hair - WWII era
So I'm looking for a middle grade book where a girl immigrates to America with her family. The girl is detained (probably at Ellis Island), it has something to do with her losing her hair and the worry that no man would marry a bald woman so she would become a ward of the state.
The girl is a Russian Jew escaping the Holodomor or maybe the Holocaust, but I do remember it she was Russian in WWII era. While she is detained she ends up taking care of a much younger Russian boy who is also detained. I remember one of the problems was that the boy was a Russian peasant who was sent to get away from the war, and the girl is upset or jealous because she thinks people like her family deserve to seek refuge more than the boy. I might have some of the details wrong on that though.
I read this between 2012 and 2015. It was definitely middle grade but I don't remember if it was newer when I read it or not.
Thanks in advance!

[Russian > English] three Jewish names
These images are from a Russian revision list from 1851, and I would love some help with the names on them. The last name is a variation of Shackvitch, and these are the female children of the two families I posted a couple of days ago.

If you aren't familiar with Jewish names, this pdf with Jewish names in Yiddish and Cyrillic might be helpful.
Thank you so much for your help with my family history research!

I've been trying to research one of my great-grandfather's ancestry, but I've found it surprisingly difficult. More difficult than my Jewish Genealogy research surprisingly, he and his family/ancestry lived in Ukraine and were Russian Orthodox. More info below
His name was Ivan Vladimirovich Pivovarov (1919-2004). I have nearly nothing on his paternal side, his father was Vladimir Pivovarov (abt. 1885-1923), I know he fought in WWI, likely died of Tuberculosis and was born and lived in Ukraine, but I haven't found any records on him. My grandpa tells me that the last name was likely originally Pivovar. But, that's it, that's all I know
I've had a bit more luck on my great-grandpa's maternal side. His mother's name was Akulina Makarovna Pesyholovets' (1887-1967), there's not really a good English translation for her last name, in Ukrainian it's spelled ΠΠ΅ΡΠΈΠ³ΠΎΠ»ΠΎΠ²Π΅ΡΡ. I know she was born in Kobeliaki, Poltava, Ukraine and died in Sakhnovshchyna, Kharkiv, Ukraine. She likely had brothers, but all I know is she had two younger sisters named Grunya and Natalia. Her father was Makar Maximovich Pysygolovets born around 1840. Makar's father was Maxim. Akulina's mother was a woman named Pisisinia Nikolayevna, no idea what her maiden name was. I know she died after 1945 and lived to 106 years old, so she was born around 1840. Pisisinia's father was a man named Nikolay, but it's possible he was documented under the Ukrainian version of that name, so Mykola (ΠΡΠΊΠΎΠ»Π°).
But that's it, that's all I know. Any help would be wonderful. I'd assume there are some church records somewhere, but I've had no luck finding anything, the only reason I know these people is from family memory.
