Warm winter day range trip, the ruger super blackhawk and 1851 navy and 1860 army. With a cigar in the middle someone gifted me. My wallet hurts a bit from the 44 mag. But the cap and ball guns went over Smoothly for a change no cap jams and 40 shots from each with cleaning at the halfway point.

Ruger Blackhawk locking up only when decocking with the cylinder in it. Please help.

Disclaimer: I have not fired a single round through this gun and it is already unusable. To say I'm pissed is an understatement.

So I bought a new model blackhawk in .357, and it is now locking up. when decocking from full cock, after the hammer is let back down, the hammer locks up completely. It will go halfway to one click then just stop.

If I remove the cylinder, and push the base pin back in, the gun functions 100% normally and will allow me to decock, and dry fire with zero issue. But once the cylinder is back in, and I try to decock, the hammer just locks up tight as shit and nothing will happen until I remove the cylinder again and dry fire.

What the hell is going on with this gun?? Really cannot afford to take this to a gunsmith, and I want to try and fix this myself before sending it to ruger where it will be for 2+ months.

I have a question. If I wanted to get a functional replica of LUCKY (Fallout New Vegas) how much would getting this kind of engraving/custom work cost? I'd probably use Ruger New Model Blackhawk Blued as the base, unless you have suggestions for that too.

Wheel gun wesday new pickup ruger super blackhawk 475 bucks tax included she isn't a show gun. A 1973 production year when I get home she's getting stripped down cleaned up. Ruger super blackhawk grips first try. I have them fitted to the frame now it's not perfect but compared to making grips for the colt I'm still working on.
