Hello Friends!
I am considering applying for membership in the RHSC. Is anyone here a member? How good are the periodicals and journals? Many thanks!
I'm up here in Toronto, Ontario Canada. The great white North. Things have gotten out of hand here, but what I say today at the grocery store spelled out to me that things have gone wayyyy out of hand. We have mask mandates up here (although as of late I've been going to certain stores without a mask on and barely anyone ever bats an eye). Today while shopping I saw a couple and their daughter who couldn't be more than 3 years old. ALL THREE of them - including the little girl - were DOUBLE MASKED. Yes that's right - not one but TWO masks is something I'm noticing on people. When will Canadians, Aussies, UK, Dem states in the USA wake up and realize this is NOT how the vast majority of people on the planet want to live? Quebec just announced that you will need THREE DOSES of the Vaccine to be considered fully vaxxed soon. I am double-vaxxed (Reluctantly because of my job which mandated it), but three is where I put my foot down. I REFUSE to inject unknown substances into my body every 3-6 months, and at this point I don't give a fuck if my position gets me fired. I will be leaving this country if it gets to that point.
Honestly, there's absolutely zero downside to hodl AMC and GaMEr right now. This is a slam dunk investment. We're gonna be rich!!
Dave McKay spoke at a Reuters Newsmaker event back in September. While the RBC CEO claimed that he doesn't think Bitcoin is fraudulent, and that it hasn't misrepresented what it is, he says that it doesn't solve a need in society today, at least, not a a legitimate need in society that is. The head of Canada's largest bank suggests that what Bitcoin is solving is that it provides a mean to hide the transactions of value from person to person, and therefore aids money-laundering and terrorist financing efforts.
The links to the CNBC and Reuters articles are below, and I strongly recommend watching the entire 69-minute conversation available on Reuters. This provides a detailed look at what RBC's public position is regarding Bitcoin specifically, and Blockchain technology more generally, as well as fielding questions regarding AI technology in the industry. It shouldn't be a surprise that while he suggests that Bitcoin doesn't 'solve a need in society', he touts the benefits of a centralized Blockchain to serve the needs of the centralized banking system, of which RBC is currently sitting atop in Canada.
Dave McKay does say that he doesn't see the need to regulate Bitcoin out of existence, just that it needs to be regulated. In all fairness then, I feel obligated to now point out how RBC was linked in the Panama Papers, and how the CEO responded at the time saying "he couldn't comment on the specific information leaked. But he said the bank is reviewing its files in an effort to verify to determine whether any wrongdoing took place. This information ... goes back 40 years," McKay told shareholders. "So you can imagine how difficult it is to go back in your file 40 years."
With that all being said, I also want to direct people to the response that Andreas Antonopoulos provided when questioned by the Canadian Senate, specific to the question of anti-money laundering and terrorist financing, also relevant however would be tax-evasion. >Mr. Antonopoulos: Absolutely. I believe that there is a great misconception in the idea that bitcoin use is anonymous or that the network itself is anonymous. On the contrary, the central public ledger allows any participant to observe all transactions that occur on the network. Those transactions are not always tied to a speci
