Was fortunate enough to visit Western Australia back in April when the borders allowed. Possibly my favourite day of the trip was this one where I took the ferry to Rottnest and cycled around exploring the island for the day. Still can’t get over how cute the quokkas were!

Wanting to find people who’ve worked on Rottnest Island for many years or have visited over multiple decades
I’m doing a small radio news package (sorta like a triple j hack segment) for an assessment at uni. I’m focusing it around the new 40 million dollar development on Rottnest Island, how people think it will reshape tourism of the island and also more generally what people’s thoughts are on the direction the island should go in, as in recent years its dark history has been more publicly understood and scrutinised. Im looking to interview anyone who’s worked/works there or simply someone who’s seen it change over the decades and would like to share some of their thoughts on the island and its future.
Being a radio news piece, I’d need to aurally interview someone, but this can be done over the phone and wouldn’t go any longer than 10-20 minutes. Answers and help is appreciated in the comments as well.

TIL in 1696, a Dutch explorer Willem de Vlaming named an island "Rottnest", which means Rat's nest, because he mistook Quokkas for huge rats.

What to do on Rottnest Island?
Howdy, we are leaving Saturday morning, returning Sunday arvo. My partner and 6 month old will also be by me side. So no bikes will be used. Mainly looking to relax and chill but looking to do 1 or 2 activities. Let me know! Cheers
