I’m an eighteen year old boy. My favourite of the four mentioned is Romeo and Juliet and my least favourite is Merchant of Venice. Please keep in mind that it’s for personal enjoyment and I don’t have a teacher over my shoulder explaining jokes.
I own all the plays through my mom so I don’t need to worry about finding them.
(Reason why I ask: saw a smug argument about it for one specific interpretation, so I thought „why not ask my favourite aromantic subreddit here?“)
Not really that serious on the poll from my side there, but curious about your opinions if you like to share them in the comments.
This year I'm teaching English I. I am required to teach Romeo and Juliet. My students are mostly very below level. Reading the play in class is just not going to happen. Is there a good recorded version we can watch?
Preferences include: original language, filmed on stage, and no boys in tights (this is the most immature group I've ever had - some of then will shut down completely...)

Romeo and Juliet is perhaps William Shakespeare most iconic play. As such, it has adapted numerous times for the big screen. Which one do you like the most?

Shakespeare has multiple masterpieces in both historical and fantastical plays. Hamilton, Macbeth, The tempest, and a midsummer nights dream to name a few and for some reason they teach Romeo and Juliet in every middle school English class? Hell even The Taming of The Shrew was a better love story and they were both tricked into their relationship.

Can anyone write a version of Romeo and Juliet in the same time period in Verona Italy, but it's gay? Like, Romeo is a woman and Juliet is a lesbian, or Romeo is gay and Juliet is a man
In the scene where Friar Lawrence is marrying Romeo and Juliet, he's not disgusted by Gay Marriage, he's like "Finally, a Gay couple!"
Then before Romeo could commit suicide, Juliet wakes up, and they run away to Mantua to live their gay life!
