In modern north american metropolis' like New York and Toronto, how come major buildings are not built in the style of Romanesque revival or other architectural styles which require elaborate brick/Stone exterior designs? [Ask]

I speak specifically about toronto. I feel as if slowly the city is turning into a series of residential and commercial skyscrapers which are built in the same lifeless style, wherein the exteriors are exclusively comprised of glass and windows, with slight use of metals for exterior. Very monotone and modern. Is it just cheaper? Why are styles of roman revival or Victorian revival or Gothic used more in modern north america?

Help finding a name/word that will summarize Gothic and Romanesque Architecture

Dear all, I'm a huge fanatic of old architecture and I'm running a combined Pinterest board where I collect pictures of Gothic and Romanesque constructions (castles, abbeys, cathedrals or anything else that's built in those styles).

I'm facing a difficulty in that I don't know what title to give to the board. Looking for a name that will summarize/combine these buildings/constructions and those 2 distinct styles together under one word.

I was thinking about "Romano-Gothic Architecture" but that will be misleading, as Romanogothic is a separate style on its own.

Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
