A list of puns related to "Roland Tr 909"
Looking to unload some classics that arenβt getting enough attention around the home studio lately. Prices include shipping in the conus for the TR-909 and the Machinedrum, the SH-101 is local only. Everythingβs in great functional shape. Possibly would consider trades / partial trades with cash for an Access Virus TI2 Desktop or 37 key, a second gen Modor NF-1 or a Moog Sirin. Feel free to shoot me other offers for higher end synth gear or rare effect pedals, but thereβs not too much else that Iβm aware of that Iβm looking for at the moment.
Located in between Milwaukee and Madison, WI. I have a bunch of verified trades on the pedal trade sub and a Reverb shop with about 200 five star reviews for credentials.
Cheers!

Here me out, guys, here me out.
The most important thing to think about here is this: disco music is when synthesizers started to be widely used.
Not only that though, but drum machines. But first? A little music history.
July 17th 1979 was the day disco died... Except it didn't. Disco did a fusion spell with the tr roland 808 and 909 drum machines to create two genres:
Disco house, and what I like to call disco rap.
For now, let's focus on disco rap. It doesn't last for long, and rap quickly evolves into old school rap. Heavier reliance on the tr roland 808 drum machine, and old drum breaks. Old school evolves into "mid school," and mid school evolves into one of the largest and most profitable music genres, or new school rap. So that's one half, so what about the other?
Disco house consists of the tr roland 909 drum machine, and you guessed it, disco (big surprise).
Disco house goes to chicago, where it becomes chicago house. From there, what we now know as modern electronic music starts to form. Chicago house goes to the uk to create uk garage, and also sticks around in the us to create electro, and techno. From here, we start to see early 2000s electronic music.
Pay attention to house though, because around the 2010s, it's going to make a comeback.
Anyways, electro and techno are the springboard for everything from eurobeat to hardstyle to phonk to poopcore to psytrance. (And sometimes, rap and edm merge to create trap!)
House comes back, And makes edm probably the most popular and profitable music genre.
Most chart-topping music can't technically be considered edm per se, but most songs take a whole hell of a lot from edm, whether it's fidget house or jungle.
TL;DR:
Disco -> house -> modern edm
Disco -> old school rap -> new school rap
Edit: many other genres of music exist, be I think you can see my point
At first I've planned to get a MFB Tanzmaus, but I'm bit worried about reports of faulty units and bad customer support from the manufacturer side. Most drum machines I know sound too soft and too much TR-808 alike. Do you know some interesting drum vsts that can be good for Acid Techno/Hard Trance/Gabber?
Can anyone give some recs?
One I did about one of my favourite pieces of equipment for my blog, the Roland TR-909.

The Roland TR909βs contribution to Techno music canβt be understated, it is undoubtedly one of the most influential pieces of hardware in the history of electronic music. If you want to see that machine pushed to its absolute limit, watch a Jeff Mills 909 solo at one of his shows, he is to the 909 what Jimmy Hendrix was to the electric guitar. As an instrument, he takes it to a whole new level.
My first encounter with the machine was when I booked Jeff for the first time in January 2012. I toyed with buying the machine that time and regretted not doing that for years after. That show was the launch of a club concept I developed called βApocalypse Nowβ. It was essentially a monthly countdown to the end of the world, as some people genuinely thought the world would end that year, via a cataclysmic collision with Planet X, a massive solar flare from the sun or an alien invasion. These were the theories we built our artwork and visuals around. It was an extremely inspiring and fun project to work on, a lot of the people I brought in to help me with that project are still some of my closest friends today.

It wasnβt until October 2016 that I finally made the move and got my hands on a 909. I was doing a show with Jeff at the Bord Gais Theatre, his first ever orchestra show in Ireland. I felt if I didnβt get one then, I never would so I invested in it. Watching Jeff work that machine through rehearsals to the orchestra show itself was an unbelievably inspiring experience. It changed how I looked at live performance. Since then, any time Jeff has played in Ireland he uses my machine. I even had to travel from Dublin to Belfast and back for his show at the Telegraph Building. Itβs a rare commodity in Ireland, I traveled from Berlin to Dublin with it for his show in District 8 on October 12th.

When I started learning the 909 it was the most fun I had with a piece of equipment since I first got my Technics 1210 turntables. It became a cornerstone o

The drums are big part of the song, I always wondered if 909 was a reference to something and I stumbled upon the Roland TR-909 drum machine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_TR-909
The song appears in the list of notable songs produced using it in the 90's, but I can't find any real source for it.
Do you think it's definitely related?

Selling an original Roland TR-909 in very good condition. It includes a power supply (not the original). The unit is in really solid condition and functions perfectly other than some slight crackling on a few of the level knobs. I imagine this could be fixed pretty easily if you have the knowledge to take it apart and clean the pots. It is currently listed on reverb.com for $3,249 but I am open to offers here. Let me know if you have any questions!
The gear above will be used mainly for studio use and not live performaces. So does the 250β¬ difference worth it?
