We give credit where credit's due. David Chase created the world and characters we all love. He built the foundation and none of this exists without David Chase. But...after watching the movie, I agree that there's definitely too much packed in for a movie and development of a lot of things was lacking. I wonder if having the input of all the great writers from the series would have made the story a lot better. Many of the great stories and memorable lines we all love from the show came from these writers.

• When someone's going to die David Chase brings them into the office and tells them, Joe Pantoliano took it pretty well

• The judge at the trial is an assistant director on the show, Junior's lawyer is Dan Castleman, a consultant on the show and the assistant prosecutor for the city of New York

• The bow and arrow game is something Mitchell really did as a kid. That's how you write, you use every memory you have. Nothing bad ever happened to him, but don't play that game

• Most tv shows have two main stories and a smaller one, they all merge. Every scene is a "beat" that moves one or more of the stories forward

• There's always a writer on set. There's not really any improvising because there's no time and people on set don't like it

• Robin called her brother and asked how they test for dementia, it's called a Folstein test, they changed it in dialogue to Holsten (someone turn that into a clue about what happened in the final scene)

• The Sopranos is unique because every character has a specific voice. On some shows you can take dialogue and put it in anyone's mouth, The Sopranos characters are too defined. But as J.T. tells us at the Cleaver after party, you write for everyone

• They were researching horses at a racetrack when the planes started flying into The World Trade Center. Every aspect and role of the show is heavily researched

From 1999-2006, Robin Green and Mitchell Burgess were credited as executive producers on 58 episodes of The Sopranos, and they were also credited as writers on 21 episodes according to IMDB. I believe those totals are second only to series creator David Chase during that timespan. In the intermission between S6 part 1 and 2, Green and Burgess left the show and were replaced as executive producers by Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider, who previously worked with David Chase on a show called Northern Exposure. Green and Burgess later created Blue Bloods, but that show didn't begin airing until September 2010, more than three years after production wrapped on The Sopranos. Is it likely that they left The Sopranos early to start working on Blue Bloods, or is anyone aware of another reason for their departures? It's something I've been curious about for a while.

with the exception of david chase (and perhaps terry winter), there were no two people more responsible for shaping the show over the course of its run. credited as writers from season one, and EPs from two on, according to matt wiener they were abruptly fired after a huge falling out with chase before the show started its final season.

now i know chase notoriously fired writers left and right, but these two obviously made the grade...so, i guess i'm wondering if there's any gossip out there or rumors that now (years removed) i may have missed.

There have been rumors of a possible expansion, so let’s imagine it does happen, but the NBA decides to only add one new team to the league (sorry Vegas), bringing back the beloved Seattle Supersonics. The Sonics are back babbyyyyyyyy!

Now the Sonics need to build their team from ground up, starting with the expansion draft, and following it with signing players in the off-season.

Here are some simplified terms of the expansion draft:

1. All 30 NBA teams will have the right to protect 8 players on their roster. Anyone on the current roster is protectable, including restricted free agents. If a restricted free agent is left unprotected by his former team, he is available for selection by the Supersonics, who would then hold his Bird Rights for the up-coming off-season. Teams will typically have 4-7 players unprotected. Unrestricted free agents can neither be protected from nor selected in the expansion draft -- they are essentially ignored.
   Players who are likely to be left unprotected by their former teams include aging, overpaid veterans, unproven bench players, players who do not fit in financially with their team, or who disrupt team chemistry.
2. The Sonics may only select 1 player per team.
3. The Sonics must work within 2/3 of the normal rules of the NBA salary cap, so there will be salary-related restrictions which apply to the team's selections. The team’s salary cap for the 2022-2023 season will only be 2/3 of the league cap (112.414 million), meaning 74.93 million. The minimum team salary is also 2/3 of the leagues' minimum team salary (101.173 million), meaning 67.449 million.
   The expansion draft occurs after the conclusion of the 2022 NBA Finals, but prior to the 2022 NBA Draft. The Sonics do not participate in the lottery, but automatically get the 5th and the 35th pick of the draft.
4. There are no restrictions on player positions during the draft.
5. The Sonics must select at least 14 players.

TL;DR: OUAT is ultimately a show that’s meant for entertainment. Did it’s storylines get a little odd towards the end? Yes. Were some characters completely redundant? Yes. BUT did the show entertain me throughout? YES!!! And to me, that’s what matters! So the next time you rewatch it, just tell yourself it’s literally a show about magic and almost requires you to suspend all belief. Skip the episodes that are boring and characters that you dislike (for whatever reasons) and enjoy it for those characters you love <3

CONTEXT: I started watching OUAT in Jan 2014 before going into Uni and was HOOKED (pun intended) - binged what was available in a week or so and watched each half-season as it was released till end of 2017… I think I tried to watch 7B but was so confused about what was going on and just put it off. I still felt like OUAT was one of my fav shows but did feel like a hypocrite considering I didn’t finish the last 10 or so episodes lol. My favs were Hook, Regina and Rumple back then.

So 2 weeks ago I decided to watch the pilot on Disney+ as I had time to kill and ofc could not control myself and binged the 7 seasons in 2 weeks - TBH I found some stuff worse than I remembered (sadly) but MOST THINGS WERE BETTER!!! Here’s my breakdown of each season:

SEASON 1

• I remember comparing everything to S1 when I first watched the show, thinking it was the “best” at that time — well, that’s changed!
• Found it a little slow (maybe cos it was one entire arc) and I could not get past the episodes of characters that weren’t that important (sry Cinderella and Dr Hopper) cos I knew it wouldn’t add much… skipped most of that.
• Got kinda annoyed with David & Mary Margaret’s “relationship” (esp since I knew that would eventually get tgt…)
• Loved Emma’s arc and how she gradually started to believe. Henry was so pure too.
• Forgot how evil Regina was!!! Honestly love her as an actress for being able to get most of us to empathise with her later on despite the shit she does in S1.
• Overall, I honestly would rank this in my bottom 3. In terms of the overarching storyline of the show it’s more of a teaser to each character. I may even skip it (barring a few key eps) in my next rewatch.

SEASON 2

• I would like to preface this by saying that Colin O’Donoghue’s handsomeness has me completely biased towards & in love with Captain Hook so forgive my inner fan girl…
