I'll cut to the chase, I don't think power scaling as a numerical ranking really makes sense the way I've seen it so far. Styles make fights, and the whacky bullshit happening in one piece makes that even more true. Instead of a ranking of who is objectively the strongest, I think it's more accurate to say there are levels to this.
So for example, Luffy, Kaido, Big Mom, Shanks, Blackbeard, and the admirals (plus Garp) are all on that level where if they have a fight anything can happen. Where Luffy on his best day can beat any of those guys on a medium day or a bad day. (For a real-world example Mike Tyson losing to Buster Douglas in 1990 in the Tokyo Dome, or James Toney getting a robbery decision against Drake Thadzi.)
It's also important to understand that just being able to fight these guys doesn't mean that you're as dangerous as them. You might have some trick up your sleeve that gives them fits and is a bad stylistic match-up for them.
So for example, Yamato being able to stall Kaido is pretty good, but we never saw her fight anyone else. It could just be that she knows the timing, distance, and rhythm of all of Kaido's attacks because she's seen them a million times before. Which is an advantage that most people aren't going to have. If you want a real-world example of that, just look at Manny Pacquiao fighting Juan Manuel Marquez. Those two fought 4 times for a combined total of 42 rounds or a little over TWO HOURS. By the 4th time, they fought JMM understood Manny well enough to knock him out. But that doesn't mean they're the same. Manny could demolish guys who beat JMM easily.
Also trying to stall and trying to win is different. Yamato explicitly said she wasn't trying to beat Kaido, she was only holding him up. That distinction is important because it means she wasn't opening herself up for attacks. She was just doing enough to keep him from steamrolling. She's a level below Kaido and Luffy, but that's still strong enough to cause problems. In honor of the first meaningful Patriots game in Buffalo in some time, I decided to go back through the years and recap all of the Patriots games in Orchard Park, NY since Bill Belichick took over this New England team. But first, some stats.
The 2-4 Patriots, struggling to deal with the loss of Tom Brady, hung tough with the division-leading Bills, only to lose on a Cam Newton fumble with 30 seconds left on the clock as the Patriots were driving deep inside Bills territory.
Josh Allen is picked off by J.C. Jackson twice before leaving the game early in the 4th with an injury. Bills QBs throw a combined 4 INTs, and the special teams chips in with a TD in this defensive battle.
The last Monday night matchup in Buffalo between these 2 teams was a slog-fest. Both teams traded FGs through 3 quarters until the Patriots finally put the game away in the 4th wih a James White rushing TD and a Devin McCourty pick six.

We just came back from a 5-day trip to Costa Rica, and I wanted to share my experience driving with Uber.
A bit of context: we stayed in San José (San Bosco). We didn’t feel confident enough to rent a car, so the plan was to make 3-4 day trips to the places of interest (parks, beaches, coffee plantations) using taxi services.
We also heard a few warnings against using local cabs, so we decided to just Uber everywhere.
Now, here are things that have happened:
Twice upon arrival a driver would tell us he only accepted cash. Okay, that’s no biggie, although inconvenient sometimes.
Once a driver said his Uber app wasn’t working properly, so he switched it off and just put Google maps. It was supposed to be a trip to Braulio Carillo park, but as we started approaching the park, he lost signal (so did we) and said he wasn’t sure where to go. Then he added it might be dangerous for us to go there by ourselves, even if he would wait for us at the entrance (that’s in case we find it) because tourists often get robbed there. Long story short, he convinced us to go back to the hotel. That was 3+ hours in a car and 35000 colones cash (although the view from the window was breathtaking!)
Another driver also got lost despite the app navigator, so instead of spending 2-2,5 hours on the way to Manuel Antonio, we spent 5+ hours, and it was off-road (again, the views were incredible though!) Oh, and during that ride, we were briefly chased by a man with a machete after trying to ask him for directions.
Whenever we tried to call Uber from around a bus station, drivers would often cancel before arriving. We were then explained it was an unsafe place for them because local drivers hanging out at the bus station sometimes are aggressive towards Uber drivers.
At some point, we found a nice and friendly uber driver who offered his services to drive us around and wait as long as needed. We agreed, but during the ride I got paranoid because I found 2 plastic zip ties behind the backseat. Because it was also in the area with no signal, I freaked out and canceled further rides with him. Perhaps, I overreacted, but if you’ve read the previous paragraphs, you may understand why.
Now, I understand that it’s our responsibility to plan rides more thoroughly and probably we should have printed maps and probably we should have rented a car in the first place.
But damn!
Did we make some fundamental mistake or were we just unlucky?

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

New Zealand farm working dogs are supreme athletes that are crucial to agriculture in the region. The effects that low or high dietary carbohydrate (CHO) content might have on their interstitial glucose (IG) and activity during work are unknown. The goals of the study were to determine if the concentration of IG and delta-g (a measurement of activity) will be lower in dogs fed an ultra-low CHO high fat diet in comparison to dogs fed a high CHO low fat diet, and to determine if low concentrations of IG are followed by reduced physical activity. We hypothesized that feeding working farm dogs an ultra-low CHO diet would reduce their IG concentrations which in turn would reduce physical activity during work. We prospectively recruited 22 farm dogs from four farms. At each farm, dogs were randomized to one of two diets and had a month of dietary acclimation to their allocated diet. The macronutrient proportions as a percentage of metabolizable energy (%ME) for the high CHO low fat diet (Diet 1) were 23% protein, 25% fat, and 52% CHO, and for the ultra-low CHO high fat diet (Diet 2) 37% protein, 63% fat, and 1% CHO. Following the acclimation period, we continuously monitored IG concentrations with flash glucose monitoring devices, and delta-g using triaxial accelerometers for 96 h. Dogs fed Diet 2 had a lower area under the curve (±SE) for IG (AUC Diet 2 = 497 ± 4 mmol/L/96h, AUC Diet 1 = 590 ± 3 mmol/L/96h, P = 0.002) but a higher area under the curve (±SE) for delta-g (AUC Diet 2 = 104,122 ± 6,045 delta-g/96h, AUC Diet 1 = 80,904 ± 4,950 delta-g/96h, P< 0.001). Interstitial glucose concentrations increased as the activity level increased (P < 0.001) and were lower for Diet 2 within each activity level (P < 0.001). The overall incidence of low IG readings (< 3.5 mmol/L) was 119/3810 (3.12%), of which 110 (92.4%) readings occurred in the Diet 2 group (P = 0.001). In the Diet 2 group, 99/110 (90%) of the low IG events occurred during the resting period (19:00–06:00). In this study we demonstrated through analytic considerations and numerical studies that the mitochondrial fatty-acid β-oxidation can exhibit bistable-hysteresis behavior. In an experimentally validated computational model we identified a specific region in the parameter space in which two distinct stable and one unstable steady state could be attained with different fluxes. The two stable states were referred to as low-flux (disease) and high-flux (healthy) state. By a modular kinetic approach we traced the origin and causes of the bistability back to the distributive kinetics and the conservation of CoA, in particular in the last rounds of the β-oxidation. We then extended the model to investigate various interventions that may confer health benefits by activating the pathway, including (i) activation of the last enzyme MCKAT via its endogenous regulator p46-SHC protein, (ii) addition of a thioesterase (an acyl-CoA hydrolysing enzyme) as a safety valve, and (iii) concomitant activation of a number of upstream and downstream enzymes by short-chain fatty-acids (SCFA), metabolites that are produced from nutritional fibers in the gut. A high concentration of SCFAs, thioesterase activity, and inhibition of the p46Shc protein led to a disappearance of the bistability, leaving only the high-flux state. A better understanding of the switch behavior of the mitochondrial fatty-acid oxidation process between a low- and a high-flux state may lead to dietary and pharmacological intervention in the treatment or prevention of obesity and or non-alcoholic fatty-liver disease. Author summary: Obesity is a complex disease which is still poorly understood at the systemic level. Impaired capacity in fat oxidation may contribute to the development of obesity. In this manuscript using a detailed mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation computational model, we demonstrate that the oxidation of fat can exhibit bistability and hysteresis, implying that there is a risk that the pathway gets trapped in a stable state with low activity. We also identify the cause of bistability in the metabolic network and analyse which clinically relevant factors shift the pathway between the high-flux, healthy and low-flux, diseased state.

The liver is a crucial center in the regulation of energy homeostasis under starvation. Although downregulation of mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) has been reported to play pivotal roles in the starvation responses, the underpinning mechanisms in particular upstream factors that downregulate mTORC1 remain largely unknown. To identify genetic variants that cause liver energy disorders during starvation, we conduct a zebrafish forward genetic screen. We identify a liver hulk (lvh) mutant with normal liver under feeding, but exhibiting liver hypertrophy under fasting. The hepatomegaly in lvh is caused by enlarged hepatocyte size and leads to liver dysfunction as well as limited tolerance to starvation. Positional cloning reveals that lvh phenotypes are caused by mutation in the ftcd gene, which encodes the formimidoyltransferase cyclodeaminase (FTCD). Further studies show that in response to starvation, the phosphorylated ribosomal S6 protein (p-RS6), a downstream effector of mTORC1, becomes downregulated in the wild-type liver, but remains at high level in lvh. Inhibition of mTORC1 by rapamycin rescues the hepatomegaly and liver dysfunction of lvh. Thus, we characterize the roles of FTCD in starvation response, which acts as an important upstream factor to downregulate mTORC1, thus preventing liver hypertrophy and dysfunction. Author summary: Under starvation, the liver initiates a series of metabolic adaptations to maintain energy homeostasis that is critical for survival. During this process, mTORC1 pathway is downregulated to reduce anabolism and promote catabolism, ensuring adequate usage of limited resources. However, mechanisms underlying the downregulation of mTORC1 remain incompletely understood. In a zebrafish genetic screen aiming to characterize factors important for starvation response in the liver, we identify an ftcd mutation that causes liver hypertrophy and dysfunction under fasting. FTCD acts upstream to inactivate mTORC1 in response to starvation. Our work reveals previously unappreciated roles of FTCD in the responses to energy stress through modulating mTORC1 activities, moreover implicates a potential liver disorder risk of FTCD deficiency under the circumstances of starvati
