A list of puns related to "Reserve Forces Act 1996"
Introduced: Sponsor: Rep. Elton Gallegly [R-CA24]
This bill is in the first stage of the legislative process. It was introduced into Congress on December 5, 2012. It will typically be considered by committee next.
Hey folks,
I scrubbed the list of the 135 Representatives that voted against expanding Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits to servicemembers. Shockingly, I found that 36 of them are veterans. A few are even currently serving as reservists. If you are represented by one of them, or you go to drill in their district, I would highly encourage reaching out to them and asking them why they did not think your service was worthy of the Post 9/11 GI Bill.

Spoilers for those that still haven't seen it I guess. At the end of the film our hero, a policewoman, encounters a suspect in the act of putting Steve Buscemi's remains through a woodchipper. She identifies herself as a cop and he runs away over a frozen lake. He is unarmed. She shoots him as he flees.
It turns out she only hits him in the leg, which allows her to arrest him, but it's my understanding that shooting at all is considered lethal force, right? It takes place in 1987 North Dakota if that matters.
So was shooting in those circumstances lawful?
EDIT: the entirety of the incident

As far as I can tell, the telecommunications act of 1996 was a landmark bill as it overturned the communications act of 1934.
The bill resulted in the deregulation of media companies. Rather predictably, this led to more consolidation instead of competition among media companies. In the 80s I believe around 50 media companies owned the shares of all the programming/ movies people watched. Today, it is controlled by 6 companies. I believe the consolidation of power on the radio airwaves is the same deal.
Why did the bill have bipartisan support and was there any serious objection to it at the time from the public ? What was its effect on the dissemination of info and adoption of the 24 hour news cycle ?
I (24F) am considering joining the Air Force reserves and I am wondering what to expect, pros and cons, and if itβs generally enjoyable. I have some law enforcement related experience and a criminology degree and thatβs about it. Iβm really looking for something that will test my limits and help build my personal discipline without the commitment of full time service. Thoughts?
I had to go to the Emergency Room last night and was waiting for my turn in triage. I was sitting close enough to the Patient Registration Desk to hear an ENTITLED IDIOT demand the medical details on another patient. The hospital employee explained that HIPAA forbids that disclosure. Instead of accepting that answer regarding Federal LAW, the ENTITLED IDIOT replies: "I WANT TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE IN CHARGE!"
I'm rolling my eyes so hard that I could almost see my brains! I wanted to tell this FOOL: "DUDE, the Emergency Room Manager is going to tell you the EXACT SAME THING regarding HIPAA!! WHAT PLANET are you living on?!?
Shaking my head!!!!
[F 20] Hi everyone! So I am finishing up my sophomore year at my university, I did 1.5 years of AFROTC, but realized I didn't want to further continue with doing active duty. I realize I wanted to do either Air Force Reserves or Air National Guard. Today I went to the air force reserve and I really do want to be a part of it. My recruiter wants to set up my MEPS date. I am just wondering if anyone has advice before fully committing, pros and cons of both guard or reserves, any experience or information you would like you say. I REALLY APPRECIATE ANY FEEDBACK!
If your employer/management tells you you're "not allowed to leave" and your instinct is telling you it's not safe to stay-- LEAVE. They cannot physically hold you, that is tantamount to holding you hostage. The worst an employer can do is fire you, and almost zero jobs are worth your life.
(And if they do fire you for refusing to put your life in danger then you can sue the ever-living daylights out of them-- but not if you're dead.)
I (17M) am planning to join the RAF Regiment Reserves when I turn 18 (I wanted to join as an officer but theyβll only let me in as a Gunner). What does the initial reserves training look like- can anyone give me a full breakdown and what does the Regiment training look like after that. The RAF is terrible at responding and admin etc!!!
13S here. Since the Space Force Reserve is nowhere on the horizon, I'm looking for information on transferring from the SF to AFR. I know I can't be the only one trying to do this in the fall, as the 2-year ADSC will be up for all of us who transferred in the first wave. I'm guessing it will have to be processed like an inter-service transfer? Just not sure how that works when you're coming from AD (Space Force, Army, whatever) to the Reserves
