A list of puns related to "Public Utility Holding Company Act Of 1935"
Introduced: Sponsor: Rep. Jim Renacci [R-OH16]
This bill is in the first stage of the legislative process. It was introduced into Congress on September 10, 2012. It will typically be considered by committee next.
Seeing that Wordpress has bowed down to HK's National Security Law in order to censor a pro-democracy website, I feel that the Feds should from now on see them as more of a 'public square' and thus treat them as public utilities.
Like a lot, I used to fan-girl on them when they were new and they were seen as a potential to revolutionise our world and shaping a bold new future. That's just like how we see Elon Musk and Space X today. So they were held as sarcosanct and infallible, unlike traditional relics like the govs and Feds that we feel are holding us back.
Buuut, this is no longer the case anymore. Now they are just as evil as anything else, perhaps even more so than some of 'old relics'. They are just as fallible unlike whatever illusions some of us we'd still held on them.
Even more worse, we now do pretty much everything else on the internet because of the pandemic and the new normal. In the old normal if a person was booted off Facebook if one of the admins working in the company doesn't like what he say, such as 'UFOs are real!', then he still has the recourse of setting up a booth on the sidewalk and say whatever we want there. But when the new normal had set in, the recourse is no longer possible with all these lockdowns and curfews. What's the point with the double whammy of the pandemic-related lockdowns and Kafkaesque social media giants that can simply unperson you if they just rather don't like you?
As seen in my given example, Wordpress nuked the site rather than simply geo-restricting it. If they can do that, what's to stop Facebook or Youtube from cowering over and doing the same by cutting you off? Worse of all, AirBnB theoretically can do that too; let's see below.
