A list of puns related to "Protestantism In Lebanon"
In Canada, this is fairly uncommon except when a Catholic marries a Protestant.
I've always been told that Scottish protestants consider flashy displays of wealth vulgar. Why is that? I've recently read a lot of academic papers which allege that Presbyterians in Scotland are partially responsible for, generally, aspects of Scottish culture being more dour than other countries. Why hasn't this aversion to wealth stopped Presbyterians becoming wealthier than people in a number of religious denominations?
For instance, could the protestant religion and centers of reform emerge in Spain, France, England, etc... instead of the German provinces we usually see? If its possible, how do I make it happen?
To start off, I'm aware that there is controversy in scholarship about whether the Cathars even were "a thing", but that is kind of immaterial to my question, as whether or not there is a direct genesis is secondary, and I'm more interested in how Protestant sects of 16th-19th centuries viewed what was recorded of Catharism and other alleged heretical groups, and how that influenced their own development, given that I feel they would likely have appreciated some connection being present in the challenge to Catholic authority both presented. Whether Cathars were real, or an historical misnomer, is secondary as long as those influenced by it thought they were real!
I'm planning a trip to rural Germany over the next week. I'm kind of interested in ancient German religious practices; are there any holdouts of paganism in the countryside?
For some reason they advertise to me on line, where I see: "ComeuntoChrist.org" in their ad buys. You click on these and you end up on a website that is completely foreign to a lifelong Mormon. The people don't look Mormon (they are extremely diverse), their are no Mormon topics. It is all pablum about God and Christ. You would not know you are on a Mormon website until you get to the very end, where they mention the book of Mormon. The church is ashamed of their unique Mormon identity and doctrine. Unchanging Church LOL. I don't even recognize this church anymore. In some respects that makes me kind of sad, It used to be about being proud of your Mormon identity and truth claims. Now it's rapidly becoming a pablumistic culty version of Protestantism.
I read that in WWI, the Russians helped out the Serbs who were Orthodox. The enemies of the Serbians were mostly Catholic: Austria-Hungarians are Catholic, and so were the French who suffered HEAVILY in WWI.
Today, Germany is 50%-50% Catholic and Protestant among those who profess to be Christians. So I was wondering did this impact WWI OR WWII in anyways?
I saw a documentary on YouTube which I enquirers about a few days ago, and it seems as if Berliners who are mostly Protestants view the Bavarians who are mostly catholic as being loud and excessive.
Did the Protestants if Germany resist nazism more or less?
If you look at a map showing religious demographics in Europe around 1600 (and even today), Northern Europe (Scandinavia, Britain, German speaking countries) are predominately Protestant. Ireland seems to be the one exception being largely Catholic. Why was it that the reformation never gained ground there?
Hey, so I recently started reading David Bentley Hart, Atheist Delusions, the experience of God, etc. I grew up Protestant but ended up becoming agnostic/pragmatic (Christian truth is still beautiful to me because it is so useful) but I am really curious about orthodoxy now. I was wondering what the main differences between Orthodox and Protestantism? Like is there a difference in how scripture is viewed or interpreted? Or how is God viewed if he is viewed differently? Etc etc
Thank you! :)
In the time the game takes place, there were many different forms of Protestantism, from Anabaptists to Arminians. In the current game, the reformation is massively simplified with only reformed and Protestant (Lutheran) denominations. While it is true that these were the most popular, especially in the beginning of the reformation, there were a ton of other ones that emerged later on. What do you guys think?
