A list of puns related to "Process Improvement"
I say this because I am at a base that has been getting wild amounts of snow and we have yet to have any late reporting/early release. As I drive into work and see multiple cars on the side of the road and people trying to get unstuck, I wonderโฆif instead of living a block away from work, what if the Wing CC or Vice CC actually had to make that long drive too?
A lot of days Iโll feel like Iโm not improving or Iโm stagnated or something. Today I ended up checking out my original pgti score as yesterday I hit a pgti hs. Over the last six months my pgti has multiplied itself by 5, 310->1623. For reference bronze is 700, plat is 1600.
Saw a post complaining about the callout process and I agree. One of the few things I liked about working at Walmart better was that there was an app for calling out and it was super simple and easy, target could definitely do this easily but for some reason I don't see them ever doin it.
Some women I've come across dating still come up blank even though I thought I explained simply enough. I guess they are easy non tech words but hard to correlate with them to work. Just find it funny๐
Hello,
I am an Industrial engineering graduate with 5 years of work exp. in the manufacturing domain as a Process Engineer. My job requires me to wear a lot of diffrent hats. To briefly describe my job role: I identifify bottle necks in the manufacturing process (Use SAP, analyze data), manage improvement projects (work with vendors, maintainence), support APQP, quality, production team for NPI, help quality team resolve problems.
I have recently accepted a new role in a bigger organization as an Industrial Engineer II. They like that I have an IE background (I took up SCM, data science, Prod. planning & inventory control courses during grad school) and work exp. as a process engineer.
I will be working with the materials manager and mostly be dealing with materials management, projects to reduce WIP products and so on.
I am not sure if this is a good reason to pursue either CPIM or CSCP but I thought it will help me relearn the concepts of inventory control and materials management.
What are your thoughts, which course do you think I should pursue first?
I already ordered a CPIM part 1 book off of Ebay to start my self study. But I am having seconds thoughts about which course to pursue first since CPIM has 2 exams.
Thanks and sorry about the long post.
Working to get our firm out of the dark ages in providing documents / invoicing / signature forms electronically and wanted to see what the current best practices are. Using Proseries for tax returns, docusign for e-signature, and portals/secure email via leapfile. The roadblocks that seem to come up are as follows: In order to get all deliverables to the client, they have do do the following:
Receive docs from docusign via email for endorsement.
Receive return copies either via secure email or upload to their portal
Receive invoice either directly from QBO or via email from our office.
At a minimum, they need to deal with three contact points under current system, trying to see where to consolidate and make the client delivery experience much smoother and less cumbersome. I know some tax software can use Safe Send and that seems to fit the bill, but Proseries doesn't and not sure ready for a change as of right now.
What are the best ways to handle the delivery of all needed documents for tax return filings and how can they be automated / consolidated.
Thanks
In other words, you've gone through the cycle of analyzing business needs, processes are changed to match requirements: certain roles have new responsibilities, etc.
How often do you see processes being audited afterwards to ensure compliance by relevant stakeholders?
E.g. (random example) a manufacturer is tracking cash to cash cycle with an emphasis on inventory: they want to measure, for a select class of high dollar raw material, the number of days between when goods are received and put into production, with the goal of minimizing that time to improve cash to cash.
As a result they make a slew of changes: the inventory is now placed under lock and key, with only a select group (say production supervisors) being able to access it. They are instructed to barcode scan the inventory out when it's moved onto the production floor.
But, the analysts understand how easily the process can be cheated: so they make documentation of what needs to be audited: check the docks to see if goods are actually being received into the system as the come (no goods on the dock that are unreceived) and they want to make sure that the checking out of inventory coincides exactly with the material being put into production (audit the mfg'ing floor for items taken out of store room, and marked as placed into production, but actually still waiting).
...
In this scenario, how often are you seeing audits put into place, and if so, what is the person's official title? Is it an internal auditor with an accounting background who's role is expanded to include this? Or is someone else completely? What kind of background does this person have?
As a follow up question to that, what types of consequences do you being put into place these audits occur and reveal processes out of compliance?

Hello Everyone,
So i work as a Sr. Tax Analyst and I usually have to prepare state extensions for every state and estimates in a quarly basis. However, our calculation for taxable income is mostly manual and some excel calculation. since our tax software isn't set up by february i usually have to go to the state's website and pull the extension paper forms.
Does any of you work in state taxation and would like to give me any tips, examples, advice, etc on how to improve our process for extension and quarley filling? or anything state related so i can stand out in my job.
I thought about linking the state's website where the extensions are in a excel workbook so it can be more stream. any other ideas would be appreciate it
Appreciate in advance
So as my manager continues to spout their love of the lean process in management/quality improvement while our short staffed dumpster fire of a unit burns to the ground, it took all I could not to email this study to them.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4833201/
Conclusion While some may strongly believe that Lean interventions lead to quality improvements in healthcare, the evidence to date simply does not support this claim. More rigorous, higher quality and better conducted scientific research is required to definitively ascertain the impact and effectiveness of Lean in healthcare settings
As healthcare workers and systems we should be using evidence based care. So letโs stop using management and quality improvement models that have no evidence of effectiveness as an excuse to cut corners and basically torture our staff with busywork.
K, thanks.
Overview
Interpersonal Skills I'm able to mesh with anyone very well. I can make even the most uncomfortable conversations comfortable.
Meticulous Attention to Detail My current job requires me to find even the smallest issue with any clinic. I find considerably more infractions than the other surveyors.
I was responsible for 55 clinics this year, and all but 3 of them met or exceeded their goals, which means we were reimbursed considerably more (tens of thousands of dollars, minimum).
I visit clinics on-site to verify or correct anything that is out of compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, Rural Health Clinic, AAAASF, and similar bodies.
Create/update policies to ensure we remain in compliance with those same bodies.
The docs raves about me and how I went above and beyond. This is how I got my current position.
Did this in conjunction with scribing to pay student loans from college. Management experience.
The Issue My current supervisor hired me because she was unable to improve the clinics. I had everyone meeting their annual goals after 6 months.
She refuses to acknowledge any of my successes thus far, and I was written up this morning because my first draft of my presentation was not to her liking.
Furthermore, on the HR form she wrote that this was the "fourth" draft we've covered to make me look worse.
I love this position, but I think she has her heart set on getting rid of me. I'm open to moving to any State in the US, looking for my opportunity to do so.
Thanks for reading, Marshal
Hi Reddit,
Looking for a couple of different ideas and hoping this sub can help.
I have 10 years of work experience doing financial statement audit/preparation, business/data analysis, and process design/improvement/semi-automation mostly in healthcare. That includes about ~4 years of SQL/SAS experience, 10 years of Microsoft Office, and some other various technologies. I also have some minimal experience in corporate and personal tax analysis/preparation. I have an active California CPA license, masterโs in healthcare administration from University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from CSU Sacramento.
I have a varied background and can learn most anything given enough time and resources.
Iโve topped out in my current area/profession at $95k a year. I live in Grass Valley, CA (95949) and am looking to supplement my current income instead of trying to network for a higher paying job or move/travel. I also like the company I work for, there are a lot of non-comp benefits I donโt want to lose.
Iโm hoping for a remote job I can either do after hours/weekends, concurrently with my job if itโs low impact/flexible or an in-person job I can do that pays at least $20 an hour but preferably would like $30 or more.
My availability is below;
M-T 5 pm to 12 am
F 3 pm to 12 am
S-S All day
My regular job is 8 am to 4 pm but there are no meetings before 9 am and a paid lunch period from 12 pm to 1:30 pm so that frees up some availability too. I am not a morning person so before 7 am is not something Iโm interested in.
Iโd like to avoid customer facing/delivery type jobs if possible or ones where I start my own business/freelance/unsteady income and have significant non-production time. Iโd also like to avoid anything that has me doing significant commuting or traveling.
Iโm hoping someone on this sub is looking for someone like me that is okay with me keeping my regular job or knows of resources for people like me to explore.
Anyone else not able to see their current seats? Canโt really make any changes at the moment and the ticket office phones are off.
My names Arfreezy, and last year I started streaming educational jungle content. I was able to hit D1 a few times in the recent years, but to hit Masters it felt like you needed to be significantly better than everyone else in Diamond because of the MMR walls you run into in the 1st division (negative LP gains). I played TONS of games, and because I was streaming educational content and had to explain all my jungle macro, I also had to think about the game at a higher level to justify my decisions. Eventually this led to a break through recently where I started noticing I could play games in D1 and consistently win or go even in jungle regardless of how my lanes did.
For me personally, the #1 tip that got me through Diamond was to be able to accept small wins and small losses. It is ok to get a flash during a gank instead of taking a risky dive for a kill. It is ok to let go of first dragon if recall timings aren't favorable or your team needs to scale. It is ok to take just the inhibitor turret and not the the inhibitor. We don't need to force a skirmish for every objective on the map. Fight on your own terms and power spikes, and choose your battles carefully. Get into the mentality of smaller wins and smaller losses and you greatly reduce your GREED, which is what causes most macro mistakes I believe. Of course this doesn't mean let free kills walk away, but every case is different. Jungle, as a role, is about adapting to the game state. These smaller wins are high success rate and if you pool enough of them together, you will be performing well even when your team isn't.
Besides climbing ranked on my own, I have also learned quite a bit about the game at different levels thanks to all the free coaching I have done since I started 18 months ago. I've coached dozens of players of all kinds of play styles which puts me in a great position to have this AMA.

Improvement can be a very vague topic, and quite difficult to pin down into a process or line of thought. To most of us improvement is a simple impulse that powers us along our Siege Sessions, it's a very basic and simple feeling that we are not at our potential. The feeling is almost inherently about insecurity and for many players that insecurity about personal skill becomes worse and worse leading to toxicity, ego, stress and eventual burnout. The purpose of this writeup is to share my understanding of the process, in the hope that it can help you avoid the negative aspects of the game while you improve.
Stage 1: Ignorance
Ignorance is a word that has a negative connotation, but I promise you this is the word that does the beginnings of our process justice. Other terms like "lack of experience" or "being green" don't really encompass the absolute lack of knowledge you will have when starting this game. For your first 10-300 hours you'll have absolutely no clue about the depth of the game, through no fault of your own. But being ignorant isn't necessarily a bad thing, everything you will learn is new and exciting, there seems to be so much to discover and understand about the game. It's a stage of freedom and experimentation, you wanna main Tachanka in Bronze? You main Chanka in bronze, these earliest stages of the game are for fun. A lot of people forget that, they parrot opinions from youtube guides and reddit posts that they don't fully understand and try their best to become not ignorant as soon as possible. Don't force it, learning will happen, time is your teacher. Enjoy the whimsical side of Siege while it lasts.
Stage 2: Competence
Time has passed, learning has happened. And you're now standing on the foundations of your overall game knowledge, you feel very accomplished. One day a nice house will sit on these foundations. By now you're probably confident enough in your foundations to play ranked on a regular basis, your dedication to the game will help you climb initially through the earlier ranks. But eventually, you will encounter players are quite simply better than you. The how doesn't really matter, smurf or other wise this player has deeper foundations and a bigger house to boot. It's at this stage where toxicity begins to go rampant, players will t

3 years ago I was blindsided by my boss that I was being put on a Performance Improvement Plan. Although, I had hit or exceeded every metric measuring performance, I was being held responsible for a mistake my boss made. Despite pleading my case and providing tons of evidence, it didnโt matter, I had 30 days to โimproveโ or I was gone. The person who made that decision wa my boss (who I had just went above and blamed for the mistake.)
With that in mind, I started interviewing at other companies. I have always loved sports so I went for an interview with and up and coming sports and entertainment publisher. In my interview the hiring manager told me the salary of the position was slightly less than I was making currently based off her research but the opportunity to build something would be worth it.
I agreed to the verbal offer, and receive an email with a contract that was for 40% less than I was making. So I called the hiring manager, who assured me it was mistake. It took her 3 weeks to send me a new offer which was still 25% less than I was making. I was pissed off, and told her thatโs not what we agreed on, and she apologetically offered 20% less and 2 extra vacation days (12 total๐คฎ) with the agreement weโd meet in 6 months to talk about a pay raise. With my PIP expiring and rent bills due, I had to accept.
My first mistake was taking a pay cut, my second mistake was getting into media, but my biggest mistake was going to work for this covert narcissist well call Lynn. I quickly realized Lynn was a complete micromanager, who made our team stay later than anybody else in the office. She sent me piles and piles of work which I finished without complaint. I had sit downs with the President of the company who commended my work and spoke of many in the company taking notice of my work product. My success didnโt make Lynn happy.
Around the same time my Fiancรฉ was graduating from Law School, so I entered the graduation ceremony date into the PTO request system 4 months in advance. Also a few days later , I woke up to a foot of snow and decided to work from home (my job involved solely email, excel, and PowerPoint).
The next day Lynn called me down into a conference room to talk about my PTO request and work from home.
According to her, working from home was privilege and if everybody could just work from home whenever they wanted, then everybody would j
