Polish Lithuanian Puns

Hey guys, I’m from the US but studying in Poland. I have a polish residence card, meaning I’m legal. I usually come to Lithuania, by bus to visit my boyfriend but this time, I’ve been trying to take BlaBlaCar to go back to Poland because I’ve seen some options from Vilnius straight to my city in Poland and the bus is a little more complicated to get to the city I live in.. the problem is, is that every time I book a BlaBlaCar the person denies my request or they don’t believe that I have polish residence card… but I see on their profile that they are Ukrainian so I thought we’d both be on the same page and we both have let’s say “permission” to be in the EU… but I definitelyy understand the concern and 1000% respect their decision. You never know who to trust. So my question is, is it really that intense at the border? I’ve seen some articles but I’ve never noticed and when I take the bus we’ve never been stopped at the border. I’m genuinely curious

in 1592 Sigmund the third vasa inherited the crown of Sweden despite already being king of Poland and grand Duke of lithuania what if this continued then during the Polish–Muscovite War he is able to put his heir Władysław into the position of tsar of russia eventually unifying the three kingdoms?

What would happen after assuming all this occurred? Obviously there would be religious tensions? I expect prussia, the hasburgs and the ottomans to take action but since poland alone survived the deluge I think the super state could survive. Would they continue into siberia ? Will they expand into silesia and prussia? what other terrorties might they take? would this super state have any chance of being as rich in terms of gdp per capita as otl sweden is today? What are your guys thoughts

I just listened to a BBC podcast about the Polish-Lithuanian Republic. Renaissance-inspired democracy over a huge territory with Latin as an official language, at a time when Western Europe was still dominated by undemocratic Monarchies. You can have Austrian field marshall and all Czechoslovakian marshalls and generals when annexing those nations if you want to form Austria-Hungary. Why can't Poland and Lithuania do the same to each other?

I recently got my DNA results back and I was really surprised to see that I was only about 31% Polish and actually 17% Lithuanian. My mom’s family immigrated to the United States from Poland back in the late 1960’s and I know for a fact my grandma, grandpa, and even uncle came directly from Poland (my mom was the first person in the family to be born in the US, about a year or so after they arrived). I was expecting to be around 50% Polish as a result, but it seems there’s a mix of that and Lithuanian (I know the Lithuanian is not from my dad’s side either, the other 50ish percent of my results were Irish/Swedish, which tracks with what I know of his side of the family).

Is this some kind of mistake on Ancestry’s part, or would this imply I actually had ancestor’s who were from Lithuania in the relatively recent past? I do know my grandparents were both very young when the Nazi’s annexed Poland and that they were forced out of their respective hometowns and into work camps—is there a chance one of them could have actually come from Lithuania and just ended up living in Poland after the war, thus assuming they were Polish? My mom has no idea when I brought it up to her, and unfortunately my grandfather has passed on, but I hope to ask my grandmother soon. She doesn’t like to discuss her childhood or time in the camps very much though (it’s really upsetting for obvious reasons) so I wanted to potentially have some historical context to back it up first.

In the r/Poland subreddit a lithuanian was strongly negative towards the commonwealth (the post was a pic of the commonwealth) he said that the lithuanians were "used" "betrayed" and that Lithuanians were better off alone. Do other lithuanians share this opinion?

I was always taught that the commonwealth was a golden age for both nations more like a happy marrage than one having more power than the other.
