TIL Over 140 Polish pilots flew in the British Air Force during the Battle of Britain, making them the largest non-British nationality in the force. 2nd was New Zealand, and 3rd was Canada. Nearly a quarter of the pilots that fought for the RAF and RN in the Battle of Britain were not British.

Jerzy Eligiusz Glowczewski, 97, who was born in Poland, fled when the Nazis invaded, joined Britain's Royal Air Force and flew 100 millions with the No. 308 "City of Krakow" Polish fighter squadron. He was the last surviving member of the squadron, and died in Manhattan.

What if Hitler had in rebuilding the Germany army and air force had also put as much treasury/training into his navy? Would this have produced any different results in the war? Such as in Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain or Operation Torch?

11 year old Tadeusz Jeziorowski receiving the Polish Cross of Valor from Jรณzef Piลsudski. He was one of the youngest defenders of the city of Pลock, during the 1919-21 Polish-Soviet War. He later became an air force pilot and was killed in an air combat during the 1939 invasion of Poland. (1921)
