Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl came out on the 19th and it has had several documented bugs, such as gamebreaking softlocks in certain areas, games crashing and other graphical errors. A well known glitch known as the Glitched Menu allowed people to clone their rare Shiny or Legendary Pokémon, as well as cloning rare items. Some people even used glitches to reach areas that are locked behind currently unreleased events such as catching Shaymin and Darkrai.
Yesterday an update was released that fixed several of the game's bugs, including the Glitched Menu. This lead to several arguments about whether or not cheaters ruin the game or that Shiny Pokémon have been devalued by the brief swarm of duped Pokémon.

Some Switch owners have already got hold of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
As a result the game has been datamined. A popular Pokemon dataminer retweets this tweet every time he gets a new game and begins the datamining process.
So beware from now on from possible spoilers! (just in case you want a 100%% free spoiler experience)
I have a younger sister who’s birthday is today(15) and I’m gonna get her her first Pokémon game. Should I get her Sword and Shield which I have and could play with her or should I get her the new Diamond and Pearl which I don’t have?
I like Sword and Shield and could play it with her but I believe that Diamond and Pearl is a better overall game.
Opinions welcomed!
Edit: I have decided to go with Shining Pearl. I believe it will give a more classic Pokémon experience that we all fell in love with. I will mostly get her Shield for Christmas. Thank you to everyone who commented and help with this decision!

I recently got Pokémon Shining Pearl and caught a Geodude. I then evolved him into a Graveler. Online it tells me that in order to evolve it into a Golem I must trade to evolve. Does this mean I’ll trade my Graveler away for some Starly? I would like a Golem on my team but not trade him away to someone I can’t trust. No one else I know has Pokémon Shining Pearl. Is there any other way to get Golem or must I trade him away and risk not getting him back?
