A list of puns related to "Plymouth, New Hampshire"
Alberta Leemanβs family has spent 43 years looking for closure after her mysterious disappearance in 1978.
On Friday morning, the Gorham womanβs daughter and grandchildren gathered along the edge of the Connecticut River in Lancaster as a New Hampshire Fish and Game dive team searched a silt-filled Pontiac LeMans found overturned in water 14 feet deep.
After decades of wondering if she was dead or alive, they hoped to finally get some answers.
βYou never give up,β said her daughter, Nancy McLain.
The day-long search in the area of the car that authorities believe belonged to Leeman resulted in the discovery of human remains, Fish and Game Lt. Robert Mancini Jr. confirmed early Friday evening.
The remains have not yet been positively identified, but the discovery is the closest Leemanβs family has come to ending the decades of pain theyβve endured. They have spent years following up on possible sightings and reports of human remains found elsewhere β only to learn that they werenβt related to Leemanβs disappearance.
Her granddaughter, Roxanne McLain, was 16 when she vanished. She and other family members live in Gilman, Vt., which is just a few miles away from the site of the submerged car.
At the time, her grandmother was living 40 miles away in Gorham.
βWe never thought she was here. They had looked in Maine. They were getting sightings in New Hampshire. β¦ The sightings were terrible at the time. They spotted her everywhere,β said Roxanne, who is Nancy McLainβs daughter.
Leemanβs family learned Thursday night that a vehicle registered to Leeman was found last week by a Fish and Game remote-operated vehicle with an underwater camera and sonar team during training.
Mancini said a dive team conducted an initial search of the river Wednesday and matched the vehicle. The license plate had fallen off, but was still sitting nearby.
The exhaustive search was the result of efforts by Fish and Game Conservation Officer Joe Canfield, who found a vehicle submerged in the Androscoggin River in the Errol area a few years ago using the specialized technology.
Since then, he learned about Leemanβs case and has undertaken regular search missions in the Androscoggin and Connecticut rivers along areas close to the roadway, Mancini said.
βHeβs taken time, along with other team members on the sonar team, and theyβve taken their training days to come up here and search portions of the river. And last week they came with that sonar and the underwater camera, and th

I found these posts so helpful during my planning process - I hope someone finds mine similarly helpful! For privacy reasons I wonβt post photos or identify vendors by name, but if any New Hampshire Wedditors would like more information, please donβt hesitate to PM me! There was only one business I would not patronize again, and it was not in New Hampshire.
Location: Lakes region of New Hampshire, where my parents live. We planned from Raleigh, NC, where we both live.
Overall vibe: Classic, midcentury-inspired garden wedding with a highly edited guest list (we invited 57 and 43 came) and knock-your-socks-off flowers. Planning every last detail wasnβt important to us (we definitely ceded control to my parents in a few areas and didnβt mind), but some things were priorities for us and we held onto those. Keeping our guest list small was important not only for COVID-19 precautions, but also to make the most of our budget.
What went wrong and how it impacted the day: There were two major events the day of my wedding that impacted the day, and one event before the wedding. Pretty much everything I wish had been different about my wedding had to do with those three things - and they were all completely outside my control.
It began raining HARD halfway through our outdoor ceremony. After the first reading, I looked out at my 43 guests, huddled under umbrellas and looking thoroughly miserable, and stopped the string performance of our musical blessing to move everybody onto the nearby veranda. Embarrassing at the moment, but necessary! The rain didnβt spoil our day, though it did cause some disappointment re: photos (more on that below). It also made our wedding video, recorded on my husbandβs GoPro, one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Hearing the guest commentary on the video after the fact helped me relax about it; everyone was of good humor.
My parentsβ dog spent the wedding weekend in and out of the emergency vetβs office, and sadly had to be put down the day after the wedding after a very brief cancer illness. (Rest in peace, girl.) Apart from the emotional toll on my family, this affected the day-of timeline because my mom was at the vet the morning of the wedding while we were getting ready.
Finally, our 3-year-old ring bearer tested positive for COVID-19 two days before the wedding. This meant one of my closest friends dropping out of the wedding, too.
Financials: My husband and I paid for most things, but my parent
