A list of puns related to "Physical Therapy Team Name"
Hi guys, a while ago I came across a short video (most likely YouTube, probably via a /r/todayilearned post) about a certain dog breed that has higher body temp than other breeds and it was used to treat sick people by cuddling with them (something along the line of "I have stomach-ache so Ima put this dog on my lap and its heat makes me feel better").
The dog in the video looked kind of like this (as per rule #2: pic of Ridgeback breed), as in same body type and similar size, but iirc with not so floppy ears. It had a "dirty white" color with brown specks on it, though it kind of looked like a street dog so idk if that's breed-specific.
I tried searching for this subject myself, without success. All my search attempts ended up being understood as me looking for solutions as if my dog had high temp or a fever. I just hope I haven't hallucinated the whole thing.
Any help in identifying this breed/video would be greatly appreciated. Sorry I couldn't be more specific, and I also don't know much about dogs at all. If I remember something useful I'll edit this post and add those details.
Thanks for taking your time to read this.
Please someone tell me Iโm not the crazy one!!!
So my ex and I have been divorced for a little over 3 years. During that time I took her off all my accounts etc but couldnโt take her off my health insurance until the end of the year. Well I forgot (my mistake) and fast forward to the beginning of the year where my ex fell and broke her arm pretty bad. I donโt speak with her unless it has to do with our daughter, otherwise we donโt talk.
So she needed metal plates and screws along with physical therapy. What caused me to remember sheโs still on it is, I got a bill in the mailโฆ.yup sheโs still using my insurance. Told her Iโm promptly taking her off where she started screaming at me saying I canโt cause she doesnโt have her own insurance and needs the therapy. I told her sheโs had over 3 years to find a job and get her own insurance and that she is no longer my responsibility to look after. Well she continued to yell and cuss. I hung up and had her removed from my health insurance. Got a bill a few weeks later showing how much she owes (ouch) told her and was told that I was heartless and how can I just do that to the mother of my child. Told her donโt dare use our child as a barging chip. That youโre an adult, start acting like it and hung up. Now my phone is blowing up from her and guess her friends saying Iโm such an AH for not taking care of her.
WTF, I canโt be the only one that thinks this is absurd, right?
Edit: so my ex broke her arm in June. I had to wait till November 10th before I could remove her. I let her know in June that Iโd do it. Guess she didnโt believe me.
My mother had a stroke and the doctor strongly recommended a rehab center. Otherwise my mother would have only had 1-2 times a week of physical therapy at home.
I had assumed my mother would have physical therapy every day but apparently they donโt do it over the weekends here. Is that normal?
Unfortunately I had very few choices of rehab centers due to short staffing and covid.
I want to hear from the european PTs for reference. Im ending my first year of PT school and have very big plans in mindโฆ im from Spain and live in Spain.
All the posts in this subreddit as of late is about how bad PT is in the US both as education and as a job in generalโฆ so iโm getting scared. In my country with my IB average i could go for free to a public university but i chose to go to private school to get a better education and job opportunities (still costs like 5-6k a year) My father is paying, student debt is very uncommon here.
What about the job? in europe ive heard physical therap has multiple uses other than rehab and traumaโฆ like esthetics, and ginecology and urology and stufโฆ How true is that? how good/bad is the working conditions in EU?

Feel around and get familiar with yourself. Where is the pain? is it inside the labia and outside the vagina? that is the VESTIBULE, not the vagina! You are not crazy, the pain is 100% real with real physical proof. You need a cotton swab test not a pelvic exam.
Iโve been shedding hair for 7-8 years and the texture of my hair has changed dramatically. I recently went to a dermatologist who asked me a bunch of questions regarding emotional health, and they believe I have chronic telogen effluvium (caused by stress,), for most they go through a massive shed for a few months after a traumatic event, but for some it can last years and thereโs no known cure. Iโve done 6 sessions of MDMA therapy in the last 9 months and Iโve made improvements in my mental health, but still have a long way to go. Iโm just curious if anyoneโs healed from any physical ailments they had through this type of work that doctors maybe didnโt have an answer for.
Iโm about 5 months post op now (21 weeks) and just had my last physical therapy appointment earlier, but I donโt feel confident enough to continue on my own because of several reasons:
โข I donโt even have full extension yet. I can reach 0 degrees, but my good leg has -5 hyperextension. I also have to stretch to reach that 0 degrees. I feel like most of the times, my leg is bent at around 2 degrees, which causes my limp.
โข I donโt have full flexion yet either. Heck, they didnโt even measure my flexion or extension today so idek where Iโm at now. Last time they checked (back in the end of November), my flexion was around 128-134 and extension 0. Iโm not sure what my flexion is now, but I think Iโm 10-20 degrees away from my good leg.
โข I canโt even walk properly most of the times too, I still have a noticeable limp.
โข I can barely jog and canโt run at all.
โข Walking down the stairs still feels weird to me. I canโt really walk down the stairs normally. I have to walk down sideways with my good leg stepping down first, then my bad leg following it.
My PT thankfully gave me some exercises I can do on my own and at the gym, but how and when do I stop those exercises and move on to different ones? How do I prepare myself to run again? Iโm so scared to do all this on my own cuz Iโm worried I might do things that Iโm not yet ready for, since my leg still doesnโt feel good enough. I donโt even feel like I really graduated from PT. They kinda just let me go cuz of covid limitations and since I went over their protocol of 16 weeks.
Iโm thinking of going to another clinic just for once a week, even if itโs online. I just really want guidance cuz I feel lost on my own. Should I go for it?
TLDR I think my dog recovered faster from knee surgery than anticipated, at this point the vet is doing physical training not physical therapy, further appointments are pointless; wife is trying to push me into it anyway
Around this time last year our vets figured out Pepper (a now 3.5 year old beagle/plott hound) needed surgery in both her back knees or she'd keep popping out her kneecaps/eventually walk bowlegged (hastening arthritis developing). Scheduled the first surgery for October and before then ran her 500 miles (about 4 daily most of each week). For the first week after I sat with Pepper all day, and for the first two months we followed her home PT to the letter.
Inside of a couple weeks she had full extension and range of motion in the knee, and by December had lost all told half a centimeter in her leg circumference--the vet was flabbergasted. Never seen a dog recover like that. Furthermore, things went so well they don't think she even needs to have the second knee surgery.
After the third physical therapy appointment I was convinced Pepper is fine. This dog is as healed as she is going to get. She plays with her sister (terrier pitbull) just fine, don't even see her compensating for the surgeried leg anymore. I told them that and to give Pepper the most difficult possible time at her last appointment 3 weeks ago, which they did, and she performed top marks all around.
I'm done taking this dog in for physical therapy because it is obviously unnecessary. The vet absolutely wants to keep their money from the estimate so they are of course keen on finishing it out. Much more inclined to take her back for a check up on her knee before we start running again in the spring, and they can keep whatever extra money from that--after all they did a great job with my doggo.
My wife however insisted on scheduling another appointment. When she did so I looked her in the eyes, made sure she heard me, and was very clear that this was her thing now. Fifteen minutes ago she tried chewing me out for not taking the dog to her appointment today, and she wants me to call to cancel it (which I am also not going to do).
Am I the asshole?
I'm doing some physical therapy for a sport injury I have, and it involves acupuncture and electrical stimulation.now because my body can't stop keeping the fucking score my body feels triggered by the pain, I'm so scared I'm gonna freeze mid therapy or flinch the way I used to do. What can I do to manage it and to calm down later?
I saw a PT this past semester (Iโm a college student) who was awesome at her job but clearly overworked. The last time I saw her before going home for winter break, she told me she was quitting. Despite working 12hr days she was only only making $800 a week (full time at minimum wage in our state would be $570/week before tax), with NO benefits, and sometimes didnโt even get her paycheck on time. The other doctors at the practice, including the owner, were salaried whereas she worked only on commission. Definitely a mix of ageism, sexism, and straight up capitalist greed.
I want to name the practice and its owner SO badly but I donโt think itโs my place. I do, however, want to make sure any potential clients know that he thinks itโs acceptable to take advantage of his employeesโ labor. Are there review boards for this sort of thing that he could be reported to? Or should I just leave honest reviews on google/yelp about his scummy business practices?
My mother said this to me. I just told her the 3rd medical professional told me (without me asking about it) that they think I have EDS and should get tested (two different orthopedists and one occupational therapist, the latter of which was so confident she just told the other OT thatโs what I have and put it in my chart). My mother said she doesnโt understand why I want to bother getting any testing since the doctors said it wonโt affect the treatment for my joints. I know I donโt have an official diagnosis so maybe I donโt belong on this sub but I just want to ask WTF kind of logic is this??
I have a teen character that, due to needing open heart surgery and complications requiring a medical induced coma, they spent about a week on a ventilator before the were finally weaned off.
I read that depending on how long someone was on a ventilator, they might require physical therapy or at least need time to get regular movement back.
Does anyone have a guess on how long it would take for them to be able to stand and walk, for example?
Are there additional things anyone wants to add to this discussion?
Also, subreddits and sources that would help with research is welcome too.
I'm struggling to get specific information on a good timeline that they can move more. I'm aware that after such as a surgery, it's unlikely they'll be fully recovered for weeks. I'm more wondering because there are a lot of scenes before they reach that time period.
I'm French and I just saw a video of an american female youtuber who lived in France for 10 years. She recently did a video about perineum reeducation after giving birth and many American women commented that they didn't know it was possible. They just thought that after giving birth it's normal to pee yourself.
It was appalling for me. In France it's standard to have perineum physical therapy with your midwife up to three years after giving birth. It's also covered by the social security.
I thought I will share it on Reddit bc of the large American audience. Perineum physical therapy exists ! Sorry if everyone knew this and if my post is stupid.
Just need to rant. We pull into this new physical therapy place that advertises w being wheelchair accessible on their site. And donโt get me wrong, technically they are, but not practically.
The accessible entrance is on the street side where there is only parallel street parking on a very busy street. There is no chance I can park and get my chair out safely parking there. So instead I parked in the lot behind the building which has its own back entrance right next to the handicap parking. I get out, get my chair, and get inside to see 2 large steps going down to the rest of the facility. Fuck.
So we try that trick of doing a wheelie to go down (which honestly was extremely stupid on my part I shouldโve just transferred out and moved my chair) and I end up falling completely on my back down the stairs. Physical therapist swarmed around me and weโre all very panicked and when I asked about accessible entrances they said my options are to either walk around the whole building or call them every time I arrive so they can let me in the accessible emergency exit.
This is NOT accessible or ok. Itโs a large building on a big city block, not like a single small unit thatโs easy to go around. The sidewalks are a death trap that Iโm scared will knock me over too but this time in concrete instead of carpet.
Why canโt medical offices just be accessible? Why canโt most public places? I canโt tell you how many businesses and restaurants are โwheelchair accessibleโ with several steps to get in, weird side entrances that make me feel like scum they donโt want in their business since they canโt make it accessible, small doors that my manual chair will never fit through, uneven floors that I will get caught on, completely crammed in spaces that make it impossible for me to navigate the business without knocking everything over, etc.
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE???? WHY ARE CRAPPY โAcCeSsIbLe AcCoMoDaTiOnSโ PRAISED AND ACCEPTED WHEN THEY STILL EXCLUDE THE COMMUNITY THEYRE MEANT TO HELP?????
This is the 3rd medical office/place I have had access issues at in the last 2 weeks alone. Now Iโm just sat here waiting, no one is talking to me or working with me or telling me whatโs going on. Itโs been 45 minutes since my scheduled appointment time and Iโm still just sitting here with no idea whatโs going on. I fucking hate the medical system with a fiery passion.
My TMJ background - clicking on both sides, very loud on right. Had this since 1991. Clench and grind teeth night, have awful jaw pain and headaches all day. In the past year my jaw has started locking. Interestingly enough, I got to physical therapy after going to the ear doctor for ear problems. They felt clogged like when you are on an airplane for months straight, but it never went away.
The PT examined my jaw and afterwards asked me the following question: Are you flexible? (Huh? Weird question, but whatever). I told her yes, used to do gymnastics. Then she asked me if I was double jointed. I had no idea. She had me do a move with my thumb and turns out I am.
So, long story short, this TMJ is caused from me having "hyper mobility". My jaw opens and moves way further than it is supposed to. This has messed up the tendons and muscles from too much movement. Never expected this as an explanation.
I have a terrible forward neck syndrome and I have been meaning to get a medical professional to look over it for a long time. I am currently a GSI so I should get the medical benefits. Am wondering if UHS have that type of service? Thanks.
Not a rant really just sharing. I had major knee surgery and only had so many sessions of physical therapy before insurance wouldnโt pay anymore. Now using YouTube to help after not working it out like I should for months. Feels kinda sad needing medical advice from YouTube when there is a professional 15 minutes down the road that could help me if I had more money.
I have lived a relatively privileged life and I thank this sub and others like it for being a light in the dark. It helps knowing that im not the only one that knows the system is just broken and everyone is ok with it because they have been thought to be. Thanks for reading. Fuck capitalism. Good day.
Recommendations for physical therapists, good with knees/torn meniscus? I live near Dripping Springs so anyone Southwest would be preferable. Thx
Edit: appointment tomorrow at TPTS, thanks all
Hello has anyone started physical therapy past the two week mark? I was supposed to see my doctor today but my appointment was cancelled bc he might have COVID, or was just feeling ill. And I was supposed to schedule my physical therapy today through him. This Friday will be my third week post op and I still havenโt been able to schedule physical therapy and Iโm worried about starting late.
So, my urologist recommended I look into pelvic floor physical therapy, as she believes this may be the key to relieving or even โcuringโ my IC. I never thought about how pelvic floor dysfunction could cause these symptoms as well as some GI symptoms I have. Has anyone here tried it? Have any of you had success? Any tips/pointers for me? Thanks!
