A list of puns related to "Philippine House Of Representatives"
With the last poll had come to an end, itβs time of the year for another poll in The Pacific Renaissance. This time, it will be for the House of Representatives elections where it will be a first-past-the-post voting for the constituencies while a proportional representation system for the PR seats based on the turnout of the votes for region. Itβs going to be different as the Republican Movement is now involved since the 2029 presidential elections and in a twist, some new parties that will participate in this poll. After this, I will be planning to do a follow-up poll to this one. For now, letβs get into the new poll right away!
FIRST HALF OF THE GATCHALIAN ADMINISTRATION AND RELATIONSHIP TOWARDS SOUTHEAST ASIAN NATIONS FOR AN INTEGRAL FEDERALISM
The first half of President Win Gatchalian was started with the focus on educational reforms and infrastructures, so that these will be flourished with the Filipinos wanting to see a better progress in the years to come. Also, Gatchalian addressed the small business system that need to be improved, thus he made a law that each business must have the fair price to run with least 2 million pesos and above due to the inflation rate had been increased to 6%. During a extraordinary Congressional session, Gatchalian, alongside Senate President Mark Villar (New Reformists, Metro Manila) and House Speaker Edcel Lagman Jr (New Moderates, Albay), had been motivated about how the Philippines have been running with better changes ever since the Sarah Duterte-Carpio administration had been paid off, mostly from the reforms, and believes that the Philippine may become a stable democratic country despite skepticism from populist politicians from Coalition for Change and Republican Movement.
In 2031, during the ASEAN Summit in Hanoi, Vietnam, leaders of the Southeast Asian nations have considered about forming a federation with all Southeast Asian nations will be part of it, which Gatchalian said that it would be βsomeoneβs dreamβ to make Southeast Asia more developed and more integrated due to the current progress in the region even better than the previous decade. Also, he said that the Philippines could possibly join the proposed Federation of Southeast Asia if the Filipinos will be opportunistic to support the ideal way of bringing ASEAN as a progressing region. Eventually, Gatchalian talked with the leaders of Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia about that matter before ending the Summit with a big announcement
... keep reading on reddit β‘I assume this was the subject of much discussion in the lead up to the 1987 constitution, but as I don't speak the languages involved I can't really read about it. It seems very unusual and given that there's apparently been constant debate and issues over filling the seats it seems it wasn't clear at the time it was initiated what the system should be.
I appreciate the full story would fall foul of the 20 years rule, but anything of the story up to 2001 would be fascinating to me.
This is the current composition of the House of Representatives. Representatives are elected through Parallel Voting: 80% through FPTP, 20% through 3-cap limit party-list exclusive for protected groups.
While our party-list system is not as good as those in Europe, our focus for this post is the Single-Member District. I don't know how long it has been since the last electoral reform but there is still multiparty systems. The 6 major parties in Congress are: PDP-Laban, Nacionalista, NPC, Liberal, Lakas-CMD and the emerging NUP. This results in coalition with the majority consistently supporting the president.
My hypothesis is that the party support is concentrated regionally. Although there may be other factors I am not noticing.
Should we be concerned by adopting a Pro-Rep system soon or should we wait for some sort of sign? Which Pro-Rep system is the next step for imrovement?
Today, the US House of Representatives is considering a resolution to formally censure a member of the House. Last week, Republican Congressman Paul Gosar, who represents Arizonaβs 4th Congressional District, posted a video on his Twitter account which depicted an animated version of him using a sword to strike fellow member Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat. The video attracted widespread criticism and condemnation from Democrats, as well as a call from House Republican leader Congressman Kevin McCarthy, after which Gosar took the video down and issued a statement saying that he did not condone violence.
Should the House formally censure Gosar, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has also pushed for Gosar to be stripped of committee assignments. Congressman Gosar currently sits on the House Oversight Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee. The House took similar action earlier this year against first term Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was removed from the Budget and Education and Labor committees, for apparent support of political violence against Democrats. In that vote, 11 Republicans joined all Democrats to vote to strip Greene of her committee assignments. So far, Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger and Congresswoman Liz Cheney have indicated they support Gosarβs censure.
