A list of puns related to "Philby"
Ive won the English civil war and just coronated the queen but I see these options for Kim Philby
Operation Valuable/Fiend
British foreign secretary Ernest Bevin approved the MI6 operation to overthrow the Hoxha regime in February, 1949
The Albanian regime change was a rollback operation meant to “detach” Albania, a “captive nation”, from the Soviet bloc. Strategically, the UK and US objective was to establish a strategic presence on the Balkan peninsula
The US Joint Chiefs of Staff wanted to use Valona as a potential forward naval base for NATO to establish US control of the Mediterranean.
NATO member countries agreed to support the overthrow of the Hoxha regime in Albania and to eliminate Soviet influence in the Mediterranean region
From October 1943 to July 1952 several operations (from Valbona Valley, Korfu, air drops, etc. etc.) have been twarded by the communist regime.
Philby made sure to inform the communists in Albania.
The US and the british recruited members of Balli Kombëtar, Legaliteti and other groups.
They were trained in Germany, Malta and Greece.
The most fatal thing:
>Winston Churchill stated that the only criteria of support was whether the guerrillas were killing German soldiers.
>During the war, it was only the Communist forces that were perceived as fighting the German and Italian occupation forces.
>Part of this misperception was due to Communist sympathizers and double-agents such as H.A.R. “Kim” Philby (double agent of the USSR) who consciously and purposefully sought to create this image of the Communist resistance as the only genuine resistance against the Germans.
If only all the groups were united in their fight against the nazis and the Yugoslavs, Albania would look different today.
If only the communists (under serbian influence) didn't betray the albanian people....

This book is a fascinating history of his life and relationships with other MI6 agents, Russian spies, and his wives. I still have a couple of questions about it, but I was really struck by the long and deep relationship he had with this best friend and colleague, who ultimately is tasked with confronting him and bringing him to justice. Unbelievable how many people he conned and the ripple effect it caused. I also can’t believe Philby essentially trained the CIA before it existed. Crazy stuff!
