Unlikely but still possible: Brady needs atleast 488 passing yards Sunday to break 2013 Peyton's record, a feat he has only done twice in his career (2011 opener vs Miami and SB 52)
Brady is currently at 4,990 yards and probably will be the only 5,000+ yard passer this season but Peyton's record is looking to stand for another year.
While Brady has a small chance of breaking the 8 year old record, There is a less than 5% chance happening due to all of these factors:
-Bucs will probably be resting a few players in the 3rd or 4th quarter once getting a lead with playoffs looming
-the Panthers have only given up 488+ passing yards once in their franchise history (503 to 2016 Matt Ryan and the Falcons Week 4)
-Panthers are the 2nd best passing defense and the most passing yards the Panthers gave up this season was 373 to Kirk Cousins Week 6 (Brady was 4th most at 232 2 weeks ago)
-Besides Joe Burrow against the Ravens, the closest any QB came this season to eclipsing 488 passing yards was Joe Burrow yesterday vs Chiefs at 446 and Dak vs the Pats with 445
-The only QB to throw 488+ in the final game of the season was 2012 Stafford vs the Packers at 520 (2000 Testaverde and 2012 Matt Flynn came close with 482 and 481)
With that being said, assuming Brady plays the whole game and gets his average passing yards per game (311) he will end the season at 5,302 yards. This would be the 3rd most in NFL history behind 2013 Manning (5477) and 2011 Brees (5476) and a career best for Tom Brady beating his 2011 season at 5,225.
One record Brady is almost sure to break this season though is Most Passes Completed: Currently at 456, he needs 16 to pass 2016 Drew Brees (471). For Pass Attempts, Brady will need 46 to pass 2012 Stafford (727) he is currently 3rd with 682 and most likely will pass 1994 Bledsoe in 2nd (691)
