There seems to be general agreement that Peter Quince got his name from the word "quoin" which is a tool in carpentry. However, I can't find any authoritative source that says that "quince" was a variant of "quoins". All the other mechanicals have names that actually match their trade. Can anybody provide a reliable citation that "Quince" comes from "quoins"?
Just like I did for The Language of Thorns (analysis here) I set out to analyse the Lives of Saints in order to squeeze out as much information about the lore of the Grishaverse as I could.
The result is a semicoherent mess of conjectures, theories, deductions about grisha power and worldbuilding and interesting observations about the stories themselves and how they were concocted. Be warned that there is a full breakdown of each Saint's tale ahead.
With this effort I also intended to determine how these tales came to be within the grishaverse, my hypothesis was that the text was redacted by Ravkan monks, but I pretty much gave up on this particular effort once I came across the Saint of the Book, which screws up everything. You can read about it in the last part, but basically, you have to keep in mind that what we have in our hands is not the IIistory Sankt’ya ravkan kids know. Also, where I compared the myths of the saints of the Grishaverse with our Saints where I could, and I referenced the fairy tales that influenced the stories told here.
I suppose you should read my considerations about the nature of Saints based on King of Scars here, because i explain my views on the basic concepts for grisha power, the door to the making at the heart of the world and merzost, which are useful to understand what we read about in the Lives of Saints.
Bear in mind I still haven’t read Rule of Wolves. When I get round to it I will update all my analysis.
I just hope someone finds this interesting cause i put a lot of time and effort into this, and i’d love to discuss more of this stuff!

Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.

I stood in the FBI briefing room, facing my subordinates. I read from my notes and prepared presentation notes. I hit the button on my Bluetooth control which was connected to the screen on the front wall of the room. The screen revealed a photo of a burly Mexican man with a Mike Tyson style tattoo on his left eye. Tear drops on the right. Next to the photo was intel on the suspect.
‘Okay guys, Omar Quintero... You may remember this guy from our 2010 investigation into ‘The Swarm.’ Now, obviously thanks to our cybercrime, undercover and surveillance operations back in 2016, the Swarms commanding units were discovered and arrested. However, some of the smaller fish, so to speak, slipped out of the night before we reeled them in. Mr. Quintero was one of them.’
I pressed the button for a second time, this time showing photo of 10 individuals. Each with a name and sentence they were currently serving.
‘You’ll all remember these men. These 10 men orchestrated one of the most sinister, clandestine networks of organized criminals the FBI has ever investigated. 4 of them were killed in the raids, 6 are serving triple figure sentences in maximum security prisons. When the Swarm was disbanded, some of the hired muscle splintered off into their own smaller criminal groups.’ I said, clicking the button once more. This time, the screen showed a crime scene photo taken in 2009. The photo showed the remains of a black transit van, outside a warehouse. The vehicle was torched and next to it, lay 4 black body bags.
‘This photo was taken just outside Jackson, Mississippi in 2008. I’m sure a lot of the senior agents will know this photo, as I’m sure a lot of the rookies will have been told about this night. During an investigation in to a kidnapping, strongly linked to the Swarm, a surveillance team of fellow FBI agents were ambushed while staking out a potential contact point. 2 killed with serious gunshot wounds to the chest and head, the van then torched with a Molotov cocktail. The 3rd and 4th agent were killed with serious knife wounds to the throat...’
I pressed the button once more, now revealing two more photos of FBI Agents. Both had ‘DECEASED’ stamped on the photo.

I had to work late into the evening yesterday, and he was just going to bed when I got home. I had left home for the office nearly 14 hours prior, had a long day, lots of meetings, traffic, etc.
When I walked through the door, I was exhausted, run down, and starving. My wife hugged me and asked how my day was, and I replied, "Done. It was a good day, but has got me exhausted. I just want to grab a bite and go to bed. I'm hungry."
From my son's bedroom, I hear him shout, "Hi Hungry! Nice to meet you!"
Not only did it make me laugh, but I completely forgot about how hungry and tired I was. I went to his bedroom, and we laughed together about it. It was exactly what I needed.
