A list of puns related to "Pelican Related"
How many picks do we have this year
Why is BI so underrated. Like seriously Iβve heard people say he canβt be a third option on a championship team when weβve seen Jrue, Caldwell-pope, and, vanvleet do it the last 3 years.
Are herb and tm3 actually that good
If weβve improved defense and three point shooting whatβs our problem
And when is Zion coming back
Hi.
So I recently purchased a pelican 1510 carry-on for travels I will be making in the future.
Pretty heavy-duty bag, I love it. The only issue with me was that I didn't know in the corner there were wheels blocking the way so I kind of had to put leftover foam in the bottom layer.
Here's my setup.

I'd like to ask you guys, How do you guys travel w your gear on a plane?
The main issue for me is that I will need to travel with this pelican case, a tripod, and a backpack for my clothes, and some leftover cables. The last time I traveled from Chicago to NY, they made me check my camera bag and tripod and my tripod broke...
Cheers
I've been using Pelican Postal Service in my multiplayer save for a few weeks now with no problems, but a few in-game days ago, it just stopped working (no error messages, but nothing happens when I press the access key). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mod to no avail. I even tried copying the mod file from my girlfriend's computer to mine, and still nothing.
What's weird is I created a new save to troubleshoot and it seems like it works fine in that save. For some reason, it just won't work in my existing save. Is there a reason why a mod would work in some saves, but not others? Has anyone else had a similar issue?
Edit: Solved thanks to u/Jonqora
Could be something interesting about the bird, an encounter or a story related to our city. :)
Hope everyone is smiling today!
There have been rumors of a possible expansion, so letβs imagine it does happen, but the NBA decides to only add one new team to the league (sorry Vegas), bringing back the beloved Seattle Supersonics. The Sonics are back babbyyyyyyyy!
Now the Sonics need to build their team from ground up, starting with the expansion draft, and following it with signing players in the off-season.
Here are some simplified terms of the expansion draft:

I've seen people ask for directories and/or general recommendations for boutique pedal builders before, so I thought it might be nice to share the list I've been keeping over the past few years.
Included are boutique and big companies alike, as well as some DIY kit sellers, cloners, and custom builders. Some of the companies listed do more than effects pedals, but all should have a least one pedal or pedal-related device in their line.
The list is not exhaustive (and probably poorly alphabetized). Feel free to reply with any builders not listed. I can't guarantee every link is current or that every company is still in business, but you'll at least have a brand name.
Suggested use: When you have at least 10 WAY more important things to be doing, scan the list until you see a company you're not familiar with, then spend several hours reading about and watching demos of their pedals. (Sorry.)

Xbox Dynasty is our first major source of information for the game, sharing that the game will have a $500 million USD budget! The article is referencing a podcast where game producer Ralf Adam is having a discussion and is asked specifically about the budget, to where he also confirms that the budget is only accounting for development costs - not including any marketing. This was apparently overheard at GDC, which he allegedly triple checked that it was true.

> The Raptors' recent win streak has ended rivals' speculation Toronto could once again consider opting for a rebuild, as it did prior to the 2021 draft. Chris Boucher, in the final year of his contract, is considered available for a trade, however.
Regarding Myles Turner:
> Myles Turner appears the likeliest Indiana player to be traded before the deadline, with a list of suitors that includes Dallas, Minnesota, New York, Sacramento, Charlotte and Portland. Toronto was also mentioned by several league personnel as a team to keep an eye on for Turner's services. The Pacers' asking price is said to include multiple first-round picks.
And for people who like to keep up with former Raptors:
> Roughly a dozen teams pursued Powell ahead of last season's deadline, when Portland acquired him from Toronto. The 28-year-old's five-year, $90 million contract is considered relatively valuable among several league personnel polled by B/R.
> There's some belief that Powell would be open to a new destination. Negotiations over his five-year deal to re-sign in Portland this summer hit several snags, according to league sources, and Powell certainly eyed other destinations, such as New Orleans. The Pelicans do happen to be searching for significant upgrades in their quest to rebound into the play-in tournament, sources said, although McCollum would seem to make more sense as a target for New Orleans.
Man that sucks for Norm. I'm happy he got paid but it doesn't sound like he's very happy in Portland.
Edit: Just realized I didnβt include the source, so here it is
I think they have been relatively under the radar. After a disastrous start, with Ingram's return from injury, they have gone 17-17--a perfectly decent .500 team in the West just like the Clippers and the Lakers. Now that it seems like Portland will drop down the order, the Pelicans will surely get the 10th spot. I'm wondering, depending on the timing and the way of Zion's return, if they have a chance to steal a playoff spot. If they do, how dangerous could they be with a healthy Zion and a possible trade?
Check out Part 2 here after reading! (https://www.reddit.com/r/Superstonk/comments/rqpup4/the_big_short_again_the_auto_loan_asset_backed/)
Hey all! Welcome back to another DD but this time on a different type of Asset Backed Security. You probably know me now as the 'SLABS guy' (Student Loan Asset Backed Securities) due to my recent 5 Part DD Series on SLABS, but I figured at the request of many comments I'd take a deeper look at the auto market.
As many have pointed out, there are a ton of different collateral markets for different types of loans. Credit cards, medical, auto, student loans, etc. I am of the belief that these ABS markets are all inherently risky, as the regulatory measures like ratings have been corrupted in the pursuit of money. I decided previously to look into the Student Loan ABS bubble because of how big the market was - about $1.6T in student debt is held by the USA total. I didn't even realize that the auto market has about the similar amount of debt outstanding - approximately $1.3T. Wow. Time to go down this rabbit hole for a bit. SLABbit hole? ALABbit hole?
This is the first time I've ever really looked into auto loans and the securities market associated with them. So take this with a grain of salt. We're all still learning here.
With that said, let's go! This is gonna be a fat DD. I'll include a TL:DR at the bottom, but I'd still recommend reading the whole thing.
First of all, the structure of Auto Loan Asset Backed Securities (ALABS) functions very similarly to how SLABS work, or Mortgage Backed Securities worked back in 2008. This link (https://www.stockmarketloss.com/securities-law/auto-loan-backed-securities/) explains: "Subprime auto loans have been and are being bundled into auto loan asset-backed securities (βABSβ) and sold to the public as solid, income-producing debt investments similar to corporate bonds. Theyβre marketed as secure products offering above-average interest. But while a bond may be backed by an issuing companyβs income and assets, these auto loan ABS products are backed solely by a pool of auto loans.Β The loans are bundled and the rights to receive the payments generated by the loans are sold to investors.Β Those rights are divided into tranches." Tranches? Subprime loans? Asset backed securities that are

In a previous post I put forth a theory that Elden Ring is the Dark Souls of alchemy, adapting and literalizing concepts and symbols from the Hermetic tradition of alchemy, specifically the magnum opus or Great Work, to form the basis of its world and lore.
The release of the story trailer and recent Edge interview motivated me to revisit these connections and elaborate on my initial theories. The previous post can be found pinned in my profile, but I will recap some of the key points and sum up the additional points below:
The Elden Ring logo can be compared to alchemy-related diagrams such as the Ripley Scroll, which illustrates the achievement of the fabled philosophersβ stone.
The playerβs journey from lowly Tarnished to golden Lord corresponds to alchemyβs Great Work, where lead is literally or metaphorically turned to gold.
The βbloody wolfβ identity of the Tarnished mirrors that of alchemyβs βgrey wolfβ (antimony), a βcooperative metalβ capable of purifying gold.
Various sections of the Ripley Scroll seem to correspond to key lore concepts in Elden Ring.
Happy Solstice!
In honor of Winter Solstice for the northern hemisphere, I've made an updated list of popular lights. Today is the day you're most likely to need a flashlight if you live north of the Equator.
There is no best flashlight, so this is an amalgamation of what enthusiasts have been buying and recommending to others lately along with the author's arbitrary preferences and biases. To search more lights by their attributes, try http://flashlights.parametrek.com/index.html
Where possible, official manufacturer URLs are linked here. Sometimes the manufacturer offers good deals through direct orders, sometimes vendors have the best prices. There are coupon codes available that apply to many of the lights listed.
Some people have asked if they can give me kickbacks or gratuities for maintaining the list. I have two options for that now: I'm hosting a version of this list on my own site with affiliate links, and I've set up a tip jar. Please don't feel obligated to use either.
There is a global supply chain disruption as 2021 comes to an end, so some popular lights are temporarily or permanently unavailable. In many cases, this list reflects current availability.
All of the lights in this section come with a rechargeable battery and have a charger built in to the light. The battery will be a standard size you can buy online from third parties, and the charger will use USB as its power source, though some options do use a special cable. Aside from the A4, all have very good color quality compared to the average LED flashlight, improving your ability to see details. In this section, I've linked good places to buy the lights rather than the manufacturer.
This section is strongly influenced by what is available for purchase within the US. Changes from last time reflect current availability and may be updated before the next list as that changes.
TRIGGER WARNING: The discussion will include themes of suicide, mental illness, and grief.
SPOILER WARNING: If you do not wish to be spoiled for end-game theory content, please turn back now. :)
In playing Stardew, we've all come across Secret Note #11. While less exciting than our note leading to the Solid Gold Lewis or the bush escapades, Secret Note #11 provides a crucial clue to what currently stands as Stardew's most open question: who is Mona?
For a refresher, Secret Note #11 outlines two people who look very similar to Marnie and Jas, while being a grainy, sepia image meant to signify that the image is older and outdated. Given Jas's age, it's highly unlikely that the person meant to represent her in the photo is actually Jas, as this photo was likely to have been taken in Marnie's barn prior to Jas being alive. However, Marnie's presence in Secret Note #11 is plausible, as we know she's old enough to have consenting relations with Mayor Lewis and is the eye of affection for Marlon. If it's plausible to theorize that Secret Note #11 is Marnie... then who is meant to be Jas? To that, dear Stardew Valley Theorists, I give you: Mona. Mona is Marnie's little sister, present during her childhood in this photo, and as a result, Shane's mother. Let me explain.
We do not know how old Mona was when she passed, however, given that Abigail visits her on Wednesday nights, we know that Mona must have been alive recently enough to have had a relationship with Abigail. Perhaps, rather than being Abigail's mystery parent or the Witch (as others have theorized), their relationship was more simple. Abigail, while regularly out wandering Cindersnap Forest as her mother used to, would walk by Marnie's and see Shane with his mother, Mona, and would play with them on occasion while Pierre was running the store. Assuming this is the case, Abigail's avoidance of Jas and Shane would now make sense: they represent the damage resulting from the loss of Mona, the quasi-aunt that she spent so much time with play-fighting monsters as a child.
Unfortunately, this gets darker. We know through Shane's 4-Heart and 6-Heart cutscenes that he suffers from alcoholism, suicidal ideation, and depression. While some of these can be attributed to personal experiences (such as the loss of his mother), I invite you now to pull up the image for Secret Note #11. In this photo, you can see Mona looking down towards the gr

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Something I've often seen come up in discussions on places like r/nba is the difference between a Franchise GOAT and the best player to ever suit up for a franchise. At first glance, there may not seem to be a difference, but here's an example to illustrate: Michael Jordan, as we know, won six championships with the Chicago Bulls and is without a doubt Chicago's franchise GOAT. He was the heart and soul of that team and absolutely put the Bulls on the map. That said, after his Chicago tenure, he actually played a few comparatively lackluster seasons with the Washington Wizards after being well past his prime. In doing so, he arguably became the greatest overall player to ever suit up for Washington, but that doesn't necessarily make him Washington's franchise GOAT - they didn't even make the playoffs either of those seasons!
There are a few other basketball examples of this: Hakeem Olajuwon, who won two championships for the Houston Rockets as far and away their best player, spent his last year with the Toronto Raptors, and might just be the best overall player to have worn a Raps jersey despite only being there for a year. LeBron James might be the best player to ever suit up for the Miami Heat, but Miami's franchise GOAT is probably Dwyane Wade - and so on.
Naturally, I got to wondering how this would translate to the comparatively much younger league we follow here - in other words, I asked myself: Who is the franchise GOAT for each team, and, separately, who is the best overall player to have suited up at any one point for each team? The league only existing for four years plus frequent roster turnover has made this distinction less clear cut and the picks not super obvious, but I decided I'd try to put some names forward and thought it could give us something new to discuss while the outside world continues to go up in flames during this long, plodding offseason. Sometimes the names overlap; sometimes they don't. Some of them I have no idea about and would be keen to hear takes on.
Please note that I'm not counting players signed for Season 5 but who have yet to play for a given team re: the 'best player to suit up' distinction.
So to start with -
Philadelphia Fusion
This one is arguably the easiest. Carpe has been Fusion's franchise player from minute one and he's been there for every incredible high and heartbr

Chuck The Condor (LA Clippers) I have no idea what this Toucan Sam doppelganger is doing to represent the clippers its kinda in the same boat with stuff very approachable not much going for him.
G-Wiz. (Washington Wizards) He fits the bill of looking like I wizard but If you have ever seen a picture of the muppet gonzo that's exactly what he looks like.

Franklin the Dog. (Philadelphia 76ers) He is kinda the same as boomer nothing wrong nothing right, but I think he looks very approachable but not very intimidating.
Clutch the Bear. (Houston Rockets) Clutch the bear is just plain adorable. The only problem is he not intimidating at all. The name Cluth also doesn't represent the rockets well because they haven't been that for a while.
Champ. (Dallas Mavericks) It's a perfectly fine mascot but it doesn't really say too much in its design or his name.
MoonDog (Cleveland Cavilers) I think Moondog is pretty cool and I think dogs are just perfect mascots. He is approachable but a little intimidating, his very cartoonish eyes are strange but that's my only problem with him.
Burnie, (Miami Heat) I don't really know what Bernie is but I really like him he isn't very intimidating but the basketball for a nose makes up for it!
Lucky The Leprechaun. (Boston Celtics) he is a classic mascot and his design is right but you could just pick up a person off the street of Boston give him the outfit and there is your mascot.
Jazz Bear (Utah Jazz). Jazz bear is a great-looking mascot I really like his headband and the design, but Why a bear shouldn't it be something like Jazz related.
Grizz. (Memphis Grizzlies) He is very similar to Jazz Bear, but I have the same beef with him why is it a bear I haven't seen a grizzly bear in Tennesse before.
Hooper. ( Detroit Pistons) Hooper's design is nice and as you can tell he is a horse like you known horsepower that comes fro
Ilkthar reread the document before him for the fifth time. The human, C'Leena Thomas, had drafted it far faster than he had expected. The document, as a whole, was well written, to the point, and held no loopholes for either party to exploit. At least, not that he could see.

"That's right, Huycv!" A rather muscular and shirtless Nyymeian male said excitedly, almost giddy, "As most of you already know, the Dantrixst System has been contested for many cycles between the Grenjels and the humans' closest neighbor, the Gloipty."
Huycv interrupted, "Wasn't this Humanity's first military campaign after first contact?"
"Right you are, Huycv," he said, "It's absolutely amazing that in a single battle they ended that conflict!"
"But, Derz, I thought Humans and Gloipty had border skirmishes all the time! Why would they help them?"
"We all know humans are crazy, right? Well, those skirmishes are true, they happen almost every local planetary rotation, but the humans call them 'war games'! What's worse is that the Gloipty see logic in such, uh, games and willingly participate in them! Not to mention that they are Humanity's biggest trading partner despite all those skirmishes."
"How barbaric!" The female exclaimed, "what sort of horrid super weapon did these humans bring to end the conflict so quickly?" She asked.
"They didn't bring a super weapon or something unknown to the galaxy," he replied, still excited, "they literally dropped their army on top of the Grenjel from space. As of 1:27 AM CST on 1/2/2022, there are currently eight highlight posts on the front page of r/nba. Six of these eight were posted by CP3_for_MvP. Yeah, six. That includes the top three, and particularly the #1 post currently: DeMar's amazing game winner at the buzzer from the corner. It was an absolute masterclass of a night from CP3_for_MvP.
I think highlights are the most important component of r/nba. It's a very glaring omission on subs like r/CFB and r/CollegeBasketball (in my opinion) and it's certainly a more core aspect of the forum than those silly stats posts. The problem is that you need people willing to go through the effort of uploading highlights for the community.
Unlike the topic of my previous post, I think the people doing this are having a truly positive impact on the subreddit as a whole (posting a Woj tweet in one second instead of thirty seconds really does not matter) and they deserve to be recognized. I guess all the upvotes and gold they get is recognition enough, but I'm bored and don't want to go to sleep so I'm doing this.
On September 4th, 2019, it was announced that highlight posts would be required to include a [Highlight] tag. Thus, this post will only analyze data for the [Highlight] tag era of r/nba. We'll be including the 2019-20, 2020-21, and ongoing 2021-22 seasons. Not quite as long as the six year sample size of my last post, but oh well. Standardization matters.
I scraped every post beginning with [Highlight] that wasn't deleted/removed and was a streamable link since September 4th, 2019 to today's date, January 2nd, 2022. Well, almost every post. I noticed that somehow the most upvoted highlight ever (Luka bubble GW vs LAC) was missing. I do not know why and I could not find any other missing posts. > The doctors Williamson has been working with had not cleared him to participate in contact drills until Tuesday. But the team has not handled this well from a public relations standpoint. It kept the injury and surgery quiet, sources said, out of respect to Williamson and his preference for privacy. Then instead of announcing a complete timetable, it did incremental updates that made it seem like he was having setbacks whether that was accurate or not. That strategy may have helped with the front office's relationship with the franchise player, but it hurt the team's credibility with its fan base. It has made it challenging to accept subsequent updates at face value. > > When did the Pelicans actually know about this injury? > > The Pelicans had a strength and conditioning coach with Williamson in Los Angeles for summer workouts, sources said, so they were aware Williamson was hurt. Perhaps being vague about the timing of the injury -- Griffin has said both "early in the summer" and "before summer league" -- was to honor Williamson's request for privacy. But that did invite speculation of whether the team was in the loop, which is naturally a sensitive topic.
> Did the Pelicans know he had surgery? > > It is true Williamson had a non-team doctor -- Dr. Richard Ferkel did the surgery -- but this isn't unusual. Ferkel is a go-to surgeon for NBA players with foot injuries and made a name for himself for successful care of Stephen Curry's ankles. Griffin said the Pelicans were aware throughout the process and that the Pelicans' team orthopedist, Dr. Scott Montgomery, consulted. They have still not said when the surgery was. > > --- > > The Pelicans have poured resources, time and energy to protect Williamsonβs health. They have changed members of the staff and even changed some of their culinary practices in an attempt to support him. They have talked with him about protecting his body from extra hits. Griffin has stood up for him privately, sending video clips to the league to illustrate how Williamson was getting beat up. When that didnβt work, Griffin ripped NBA referees publicly for not protecting Williamson and was fined $50,000.
