A list of puns related to "Paul Anka"
I just rewatched season 6 ep 8. The scenes where Lorelai is upset about Paul Anka being sick hit so hard this time around. I am a ball of emotions and ugly crying. I got my first dog this year and when sheβs crying I bawled my eyes out. Her saying things like βI should have taken him to the best doggy day care even if itβs in Seattle!β Are so relatable as a doggy mom. On every rewatch I always have a new POV!
He's cute. Like WAY cute.
But why did he have to be so damn quirky? It was just so tiresome hearing what new thing Paul Anka hates or what makes him yodel or how he likes his food prepared. He likes to be given human utensils or he won't start eating?! They just came up with the dumbest characteristics for this dog. No canine has ever been so insufferable.
We get it. Lorelai is so quirky and fun, she couldn't POSSIBLY have ended up with a normal dog. No, he had to be scared of watches, didn't like the letter "Q", needed the stairs covered so he could go down them and he could open, close and lock car doors without aid.
I love that Lorelai got a pet, but I really wish it had just been normal. It feels like lazy writing that they had to come up with "funny" things about the dog as their comedy bits for that episode.
I love dogs. Dogs are great. The dog who portrays Paul Anka is probably an awesome dog. But Jesus, I hate the way they wrote him.
Anyway, no one talks about Paul Anka, so there you have my take on him. What's yours?
I wonder what actually happened when the real Paul Anka met the dog Paul Anka? π€ π€£
Does anyone else think it was incredibly hypocritical of Lorelai to get Paul Anka without asking Luke? Literally the episode before, she'd told him that from now on he had to run all major life decisions through her (after he told her he'd bought the Twickham house). That's a perfectly fair thing to ask, and is an important boundary to set in a relationship, however Lorelai just ignores her own request.
At this point, they were literally engaged, and yet Lorelai didn't even consider consulting Luke about whether he wanted a dog. Luke doesn't even like dogs, and Lorelai knew this about him, yet she went ahead with it anyway. A dog is a huge life decision, as it's usually a 10-15 year commitment, and you have to adapt your whole lifestyle to be able to look after it properly.
I love Lorelai, but it really felt like it's one rule for her, another rule for Luke.
I think Lorelai would be a really bad vet client. Don't get me wrong she lives him very much and would do anything for him, but all his quarks would be easily fixed with some training and meds. But I guess then you wouldn't have a Lorelai in dog form if Paul Anka wasn't a little weird.
Recently I have been exploring pop music from the mid-to-late 20th century (thanks to a nearby record store that sells classic vinyl for only $3!). Last week, I picked up Paul Anka's 1974 album "Anka".
The first track, titled "Bring The Wine", is an amazing introduction to what I consider to be a pretty good album overall.
However, here's where I'm stuck: The chorus of "Bring The Wine" sounds eerily similar to another song that I've heard, but I can't nail a comparison. Am I just totally vibing with the track's nostalgic feel, or does it remind you of another song too - either modern or classic?
I really loved the scenes with them together, especially the scene where Paul Ankaβs sick, and Lorelai is sitting at the foot of the bed watching him. Such a mom thing to do.
The scene is supposed to symbolize her and Roryβs relationship, right? And sheβs finally just caving from the stresses that have piled up. If youβre that close with your daughter, not speaking to her for months at a time would definitely take a toll on her.
And how, as a mother, she probably had a checklist of Roryβs allergies, foods she didnβt like. Paralleled with her keeping a list of things Paul Anka is afraid of on the fridge.
βI tried so hardβ gets me every time.
I wish Paul Anka joined the show earlier. Season 6 is way too late!
